Wine shop; great that it was open when I went. Didn’t really look around, wasn’t that big.

Not only is this place convenient but it has the best prices around. They are cheerful and very helpful. Has a wide range of wine. Also the staff is very helpful and friendly. Willing to order what you want that they dont. Highly recommend.

My go to liquor store! It is in the perfect location in the north end and fair prices. There is a good amount of wine for us winos, that are good prices, a lot are 2 for 14, or 3 for 15(only warm bottles though). The staff is full of a bunch of funny and nice guys. They usually have tastings on fridays and saturdays, who doesn’t love free booze? The BEST part is they have a frequent buyer card for us Amy WineHouses of the world. YES, you get points and special sales for being an alcoholic.

Smallish liquor store right on Hanover Street in the North End. They have a decent amount of wines here — and I like the display the most. They have, along the back wall, your typical stacks of wine in wooden boxes but alongside each one is this cool copper-y wire thing holding a bottle of wine upright so you can easily see what’s in the box without having to pick up each one. I was able to quickly scan the wall and see stuff I recognize as well as some new wines I wasn’t aware about. Found an old-vine Zin-blend I didn’t know existed from this one vineyard who has done well with old-vine tech in the past. They sell other hard liquor too, and I found the prices of wine, etc, to be in line with stores outside of Boston — maybe a buck more but hey, this place probably needs the extra money to pay for… uh… «insurance»…

They carry a large selection of wine and spirits, and a decent selection of beer for a corner shop. Their price for a 6 pack of DFH60 minute IPA was consistent, especially for a city. Easy and convenient if your located in the North End.

I like this place. It’s dependable, has good service, a decent selection, and a nice range from the 2-for $ value bottles(which are not less good; just less pricey) to the top shelf goodies, and even some that seem rare. I haven’t yet figured out their hours; not posted online and haven’t caught them on the phone, but otherwise I can count on this place to have what I’m looking for and I’ll feel good about buying it because I get service with a smile.

Purchased a gift certificate for Hanover Wine and Spirits and they will not honor it. Very unethical shop. Stay away!

There are many good things about HW&S. It’s convenient. They have a pretty good selection of wine. They sell jugs of sangria that are delicious and cheap. Two of their staff members are really friendly and helpful. Despite these good things, and despite the fact that it’s a locally owned shop that I’m happy to support… I miss Martingettis, mainly because Martingettis had Strongbow cider and I was so happy to find a place so close to my apartment that sold my happy drink. HW&S doesn’t have nearly as much of a selection(at least of beers, ciders, and girlie drinks) as Martingetti’s etiher. There have been a few times when the staff(not the aforementioned two) have been less than helpful, but they did introduce me to Syrah wine, and that gives them extra points in my book.

I wish the selection of champagnes was a bit larger, but I suppose the size of the place doesn’t allow for much expansion. They have all the standards in stock, prices are lower than a lot of other spots in the neighborhood, and everyone that works here is always helpful when I am feeling adventurous and want to try a new wine. They also sell Sparks and beer by the can, and if whatever you are looking for is sold out on the floor, they’ll gladly pull it for you from the stock in the back.

When I moved to the North End this liquor store held an air of mystery for me because it was… closed. I always wondered if it was some ancient remnant of a liquor store that was pushed out by Martignetti’s or what. But it has reopened! The store is fully stocked with all of the standard brands of wine/prosecco. They have wine tastings on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5pm until close. I mentioned to them that I was going to Unilocal their store and they gave me and my housemate keychains, a t-shirt, and a hat! Great sucking up to the reviewer! This place is owned by a true North End family who is so nice and fun(they also own the Green Cross Pharmacy). I recommend trying out the free wine samples, shopping around the wine/liquor selections, and chatting it up with the staff. Much friendlier than Martignetti’s, I must say!
