Based in Boston, Kate creates fun, happy, colorful, REAL images that showcase her clients’ personalities. She primarily photographs families and children, but also loves creating headshots and portraits of couples in love.

History

Established in 2008.

Internationally award-​winning family photographer Kate Lemmon has been photographing families, babies, and children since 2008. Her vibrant, colorful style and personalized attention have earned the trust of hundreds of families. Kate has been featured in the National Association of Professional Child Photographers, the Style Network, and best-​selling book The Handmade Marketplace.

Kate uses solely natural light in her photography and works either in her clients’ homes or in beautiful outdoor locations to create artistic and meaningful images. Each session is completely customized from beginning to end, and she works closely with each family to create not only beautiful images, but heirloom-​quality albums and displays built to last for generations. Kate builds lifelong relationships with her clients as she witnesses their children grow and change from year to year.

My first photo subjects were my Beanie Babies back in 5th grade. I think it’s safe to say my photography skills have improved since then! ;) I received my first SLR in high school, and I took pictures of anyone that would let me. I spent all of my free time in Barnes & Noble, trying to soak up all of the knowledge that I possibly could. And now, eight years later, I still can’t believe I’m lucky enough to call this my full-​time job.

I love my clients like family. I feel so lucky to have met each and every wonderful person that I’ve photographed since I started my business back in 2008, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to witness people at their happiest moments. I love watching my clients play and snuggle and twirl and laugh. Their smiles bring me joy. Taking portraits combines my love of people and art, and I’m constantly amazed at the possibilities for growth and creativity. My job is to help people realize how beautiful they are– and who wouldn’t love that?!

She’s incredibly easy to work with, for ages 1 – 100, and no matter the client, situation or weather, she gets the job done with flying colors — literally, take a look at her portfolio.

Every time I come across a photograph by Kate Lemmon, I know it’s her work before even reading the caption. She is a true artist, and she has a unique and beautiful way of capturing the energy of the moment in a single shot. I’ve had the immense fortune to get to work with Kate on two separate projects – headshots and photographs for album art – and both times the experience has been magical from start to finish. For starters, the entire process is clear and organized with easy-​to-​use online forms and pre-​shoot suggestions. Kate is a true marvel during sessions: she’s incredibly personable, she knows how to get the best angles and lighting for each shot/​subject, and her skills at photo composition are amazing. She’s very accommodating before, during, and after the shoot, and the end results truly speak for themselves. I can’t recommend Kate highly enough, and I hope that I’m lucky enough to get to work with her many more times!

Kate is a wonderful young woman to work with– professional, kind, and generous with her time. If the lighting changes just at the end of a shoot, she’ll stick it out to help you get the perfect shot. Skip the studio style photos and go for natural light with Kate. In addition, she does wonderful editing and will work with whatever needs or aesthetic vision you might have in mind. Although she has done a large amount of musician headshots and family photos, she is great for fitness/​yoga/​pilates teachers and couples. Book her, stat!

I decided to hire a photographer in the Boston area to capture the moment when I proposed to my girlfriend (followed by some pictures) and found Kate. My (now fiancé) and I live in DC, but met in Boston, so I decided it would be great to propose in the city in which we met. Kate was absolutely terrific throughout the entire process and gave me some very helpful tips (suggestions in what clothes would go well in the pictures, what the best time of day based on the light, etc — things I would never have thought of but that made the pictures absolutely perfect). Kate was so great and my fiancé and I had such a wonderful time.
Beyond her exceptional talent as a photographer (if you don’t believe me you can see the pictures on her blog — they are wonderful), what makes Kate an absolute must is her personality. I didn’t take into account that it might be a lot to take in for my fiancé, considering I had just asked her a very big question and then revealed I had a photographer (whom she had never met) capture the moment and then wanting to do pictures around the North End in Boston, where we spent a lot of time when we first met. But Kate’s personality (as well as my fiancé being just incredible) made the experience so great and easy going and I am so glad we had Kate — I strongly recommend her for whatever occasion you are thinking!!!

We decided to book a photo shoot after reading some excellent reviews about Kate. We are beyond thrilled with every aspect of her and her work. We arranged a photo shoot within a short period of time and her schedule was flexible enough to accommodate us– on a Sunday morning!
Kate is cheerful, personable, patient with kids, and a very kind-​hearted person. Her work is top-​notch. She even sat with me patiently to Photoshop some not-​so-​flattering photos of myself.
There is no way you will be disappointed with her. Kate goes above and beyond to make the client happy.

If you schedule a photo session with Kate, you are one lucky customer! Kate’s photography is absolutely genius. I had never done a professional photo session with anyone before when I hired Kate to do my headshots. I was in grad school studying to be an opera singer, and desperately needed professional headshots for my upcoming audition season. Not only did Kate fit me into her very busy schedule, but she was SO much fun during the shoot! I was so nervous because I thought it would be awkward to have someone tell me what kind of smile or face to make over and over again, but Kate just made me laugh the whole time, as she snapped away. I was totally comfortable and felt like I could completely trust her opinion.
The shots came out beautifully. The colors she sees in the scene are exquisite and she has a way of making light appear on a page like I’ve never seen before.
There is nobody I’d rather have take my next headshots. If I ever get married, I’d absolutely hire her to do my engagement or wedding photos. Check out her website to see some of her other work. It’s exquisite.

Kate is absolutely amazing! I’m a harpist, and I hired her to do my new headshots. At my session she was engaging, funny, and always smiling. She made me feel completely comfortable, and her ideas were so creative (she helped carry my instrument into a field, and we chased the afternoon sunlight until the last possible moment). Kate even delivered my photos on a customized flash drive in a beautiful package with a sweet, handwritten note. When I first saw the photos, I was completely blown away. They’ve made my website come to life. I recommend her 100 percent!

Aw man! I was really going for First Review… alas, I’ll settle with adding my two cents about the great Kate!
I have known Kate since we auditioned for Region Band together back in the day, possibly before she even started her photography business. Although I have yet to have a special occassion to hire her, I have seen her work mature to near-​perfection over the years. She has a great way of capturing moments with her subjects that are both human and timeless.
I eagerly await an opportunity for her to photograph a special day in my life and will be sure to come back and update this review when I do!

Kate is an amazing photographer. The photos turned out better than I ever expected and I’m still in love with them.
The photos she took are promotional photos of my dance organization and show exactly who we are and what we do.
The photo shoot was fun but also professional. She gave us direction but also took input from us throughout the entire process.
She is a real sweetheart and if I ever need a professional photographer again I wouldn’t settle for anyone less.
