I have been going to Dr. Levine for a couple years now. My favorite thing about his office is that the entire staff is very friendly, and they never make you feel rushed. The doctor and his staff are always very attentive and take the time to listen and diagnose properly. Dr. Levine also does great stitch work, I have never had such minimal scarring from stitches prior.

Dr. Levine and staff took great care treating my spider veins and some sunspots that made me self conscious. They made me feel comfortable during treatment and more confident afterward. Will definitely return for any other skin issues in the future.

I recently went to Dr. Levine for a problem I was having with my varicose veins. He was very attentive and answered all of my questions. He gave me plenty of time during my first visit.
I scheduled the procedure for vein removal and it went great. I’ve got no more bulging veins and the pain is gone. They do a great job there and I would recommend them to anyone.

In May 2015, Dr. Levine performed Sclerotherapy on my legs. He was very attentive, patient and thorough during the procedure. I believe the procedure resolved 60% of the treated areas, so I returned for additional treatment in September 2015. Again, Dr. Levine was very detailed and patient. To date, I believe the procedure 80% effective, and I am pleased with the result. I would recommend Dr. Levine for this procedure.

I went here when I was living in Boulder. Dr. Levine has a strange bedside manner, and he recommended treatments that either had no effect or had a negative effect. He liposuctioned under my chin and he went way too far with his lipo wand. The result: I have a very unpleasant appearance, and because of the lack of fat in my neck, it is not pretty. Given his prices, I expected a much better outcome. I wish I had never done it. I would NOT recommend this doctor or office.

Ugh, awful. Didn’t even listen to anything I said, I was out with a prescription that didn’t do anything for me within 2 minutes and they billed one of the (completely useless and awfully painful) facials to my insurance company twice! Extremely unprofessional, rude and worst of all, ineffective treatment.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Levine for 9 years and I prefer him to every other dermatologist I’ve seen throughout my life. I“ve read the negative reviews, and he may come off as slightly off-​beat, but he is a good doctor with reasonable prices. He communicates very well with me; most of his recommended treatments (for conditions that have stymied other doctors) have worked, and he seems to care about general health practices before prescribing pharmaceuticals. Try him and don’t be intimidated by any social awkwardness– he’s actually quite normal and a good listener.

I have had several treatments with Dr. Levine and his staff and am thrilled with all the great results! I have had a mini-​lift, facials, veins removed from my hands and more… I’ve even brought my teen daughter for hair removal and acne treatments.
He re-​treats any areas that did not produce 100% results (like in vein removal for example). He is like an artist and is perfect for getting little touch-​ups here and there– next I am going in for a little bit of filler for the lines around my mouth.

The visit with Dr. Levine was odd to say the least. He didn’t really take the time to look at my skin and talk with me about my health. I had really dry skin and it was due to my thyroid being low. He wanted me to buy acne medication. Also, while in the office I heard him yell at his staff and found it VERY unprofessional. I did hear from a friend that the Estheticians was really helpful and they do a great job with IPL’s if you looking to get one.

I had a spot on the sole of my foot that didn’t clear up. I didn’t think much about it until I went into see Dr. Richard Levine for an annual mole check and he diagnosed the malignant skin cancer. Thankfully, Dr. Levine, who has many credentials, B.Sc., M.D., F.A.A.D., is one of the few surgeons in the Colorado region trained to perform Mohs Micrographic Surgery and he’s located in Boulder where I live. Not all dermatologists or physicians have this state-​of the art training to remove skin cancer, a method that has the highest cure rate.
Dr. Levine explained that the Mohs procedure gives him as a surgeon more margin control, allowing him to remove less tissue and accomplish a higher cure rate. I think I was lucky to find a doctor who had this special training because now, even after my treatment is over, I find myself in conversation with others facing skin cancer who have not even been made aware of Mohs by their doctors – probably because their doctors are not trained in the procedure.
I felt I was in good hands when Dr. Levine performed Mohs on my foot. He explained every step of the procedure to me before, after and during the procedure. Not only did I get lucky finding a surgeon that could perform the Mohs procedure, but I feel even more fortunate to have a doctor on my side that takes the time to explain procedures and is very candid with me.

I came to Dr. Levine because someone recommended I try ClearLight to help my mild acne. After 8 treatments, and several burns, the treatments hadn’t helped any. This included using a medication on the bad spots prior to the ClearLight sessions. [Sterilization claim redacted.]
Because of the poor results I was encouraged to try another 8 sessions, he said «sometimes it takes longer.» Apparently, I’m gullible, because I listened to him, and bought a second session. I had the same results, no improvement and facial burns. I decided not to use the rest of my sessions, and asked Dr. Levine to let me use the remaining credit towards product. He offered to give me less than ¹⁄₃ of the credit.
He blamed me for the treatments not working due to a separate medical issue. Had he taken a medical history, he would have known about my medical background and acted accordingly. I’m not a doctor and never would have guessed to volunteer seemingly unrelated medical issues. He now denies that I got burned because he has no notes in his records that say so. I don’t feel it’s my fault that he or his nurses don’t take note of my feedback.
Anyway, needless to say, he’s no longer my dermatologist, and I would not recommend him to anyone.

The above review is entirely my opinion. I am leaving it almost as-​is because I believe it is accurate. However, I am now under threat of litigation from Dr. Levine who takes exception to my opinions so I am clarifying the facts:
1) A female staff member administered each treatment. She would remove a baggie with the Levulan pen in it from a cabinet, apply the pen to my face, & put it back where it came from in the same baggie after each treatment. At no time was the pen sterilized in my presence & I never saw it put in a container indicating that it needed sterilization. If the pen was not sterilized, it could have been spreading bacteria between the faces of different patients. I acknowledge that the pen *may* have been sterilized out of my view & I invite Dr. Levine to clarify his sterilization procedures & refute the obvious conclusions.
2) Dr. Levine’s attorney said, «you fail to mention that no credit was owing to you because you already had been given a 50% discount at the outset of these treatments.»
I paid Dr. Levine $x for y treatments. Dr. Levine discounted these treatments with the promise that the new set of treatments would go better than the last & as a way to entice me to try again. When I was burned again & *still* had seen no reduction in acne, I stopped the treatments & requested a refund. I calculated this refund as the number of treatments remaining times the cost per treatment ($x/​y * remaining treatments). Frankly, Dr. Levine should have offered a full refund. Instead, he calculated the *full retail price* of the treatments already given & subtracted that from the amount paid. In addition, he later added conditions to even this paltry offer & I have yet to see any refund from Dr. Levine.
3) Dr. Levine’s attorney said, «your contention that Dr. Levine and his staff failed to investigate your medical history bears no relation to the truth.»
I had a conversation with Dr. Levine on the first occasion that I brought the burns to his attention. In that conversation, which was witnessed by a female staff member, Dr. Levine took my history (although this same history was, I believe, already taken by a staff member at the start of my treatments). In this conversation Dr. Levine acted surprised that I was on a particular medication saying, «Oh, if only I had known that!» He said that that explained the burn & that I would no longer be burned if they adjusted the amount of time under the laser, used the Levulan pen less frequently during treatments, & allowed greater time in-​between treatments. Believing him, I continued the treatments.
As an aside, I have since learned that the medication I was taking has no impact on ClearLight treatments.
4) Dr. Levine’s attorney challenged whether I was ever actually burned since I continued the treatments. First, my family & friends will attest under oath to the burns on my face. In my most memorable burn, my skin was the color of a tomato for several days afterward. I brought the issue to his attention & the above conversation was the result.
Despite that conversation, I was burned again although the other burns were less severe. I brought each burn to the attention of a staff member who promised that with a small adjustment they wouldn’t happen again.
In hindsight I should have discontinued the treatments after the first burn. However, the fact that I didn’t is evidence only of my misplaced trust in Dr. Levine & his staff.
