The Barber Joint

Let me tell you something about being a black man in Boulder. Certain things that you would normally find within your immediate community are lacking up here because of Boulder’s… crunchy granola type vibe. When, I came up here to work my hair hadn’t been cut in months because a similar situation. In a mostly white town, it’s really tough to find someone you trust to cut black hair without leaving it uneven. So I would just grow a fro and shave it down. Easier than finding someone who could do my hair right or than walking around with some busted ass fade.
Then I met Ricky. I came in asking for a high top fade, which he just grinned and turned the chair so. i could sit. I was at ease from the moment I walked through the door. Then he started to methodically work the fade out of the gang of hair I had amassed. It felt like having a sculptor work marble up there. He was smooth, and focused. When he finished he faded the cut into my beard then worked just as hard getting my lining done right from forehead to the bottom of my chin. I left looking better than I think I ever have. When I leave Boulder to go back to college in the Springs, best believe I’ll commute up to see Ricky. It’s worth it, knowing that he is confident in his ability to make me feel confident. I’ve since had other friends in similar situations go in and see him and now we are the flyest bunch in town. They even bumped Biggie, Nas, and old Jay Z in the shop which I loved. I wish I could give more stars than just 5.

Hands down best barbershop on the hill. Ricky and Leslie are building a team of barbers that always give the right cuts. Friendliest staff, always a great conversation. You won’t be disappointed.

Katie is my go to barber. It’s great when you can find someone who you can always rely on for a great cut and personalized service. Leslie has cut my hair as well and did great. You can’t go wrong here. Look no further for a barber in Boulder!

2 hour hair cut worst experience of my life. I have never had my hair look this choppy pretty much butchered it. Won’t be back rest of the crew was very nice and friendly. I would recommend a different hiring process.

Incredible barber shop. Katie gave me a really nice cut while Leslie helped answer a bunch of questions I had regarding her and the barber shop for a school project. They were more than helpful with both my hair and my homework. I have gained a new favorite place to get my hair cut and met two beautiful souls!

I called this place up on a Monday after getting butchered at Floyd’s off pearl. Told me to come on in and that they’d fix me up.
They did a lot more than that! She fixed my awful cut from Floyd’s — then gave me the cut for free saying «nobody needs to pay for two haircuts in one day.»
Left me speechless that did.

Been getting haircuts from Ricky for 2 years now and I’m never disappointed! They have a very welcoming staff that genuinely wants to get to know their customers and make sure you are perfectly satisfied. Also, they have a classy new place with good music that makes your experience even better!
College students should definitely go here!

Comfy chairs and great barbers. If you’re in Boulder, this is the best place for a cut. Rick and Leslie can really do it all.

Never been to a barber shop in boulder before. Since I grew up in denver I always used to just travel down to get my haircut with my barber that I trusted. No more, however, I have found my trusted barber. Leslie cook. Killer hair cut. Killer prices and super accessible since its located right on the hill. Look no further for your haircut needs because they will be met at The Barber Joint. FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS. PERIOD.

Today I got my first hair cut in Boulder at The Barber Joint with Ricky. He did a perfect job.
I am happy to know that I won’t be needing to search for another stylist in town.
The Barber Joint is the place to go. Fast service, super affordable, beautiful space in a cool area. The owners are super chill and my hair looks great. 5 Stars for sure.

I love Leslie and the wonderful things she does for my hair. I have been coming to her for about two years now and have made sure to follow her to her new shop that she just opened. They are fun to talk with while there, make you feel comfortable, and always do a great job. I have long red hair and we are currently doing an ombré fade to blonde. I get stopped by strangers about once a week to compliment me and ask where I get my hair done. I feel and look great when I am done and couldn’t imagine going anywhere else.

Great all around barbershop! They make you feel like part of the family from the minute that you walk in the door. They are the type of place that remember your name even though you only have been in one other time.
Leslie Cook is my favorite but all are great barbers. If you have time and a little extra money, getting a complete shave. Leslie takes her time to give you a relaxing, close shave, no matter how busy they are. I highly recommend them!

Wow. What a barber shop! This place is the one and only place I will go to for haircuts. Ricky Bell not only knows how to cut any type of hair, but the vibe he brings and the royal treatment he provides is like no other. If you want a chill scene, good music, and good people, Ricky and Lesley are the ones you want to see. I’ve been having Ricky cut my hair for over a year now, and he is consistent and even knows when to make excellent suggestions. Absolutely A+ service.

Friendliest and funnest barber shop in town. My son and I come here exclusively and it’s upped our hair game considerably. Leslie and Ricky are becoming hill icons. And they cut with sweet angelic genius. Well, anyway, they’re real good. I encourage you all to go there and get your heads changed.
