Sam the piercer is awesome! Got my septum done today. He was calm and funny and explained everything. When I told him I was afraid of needles and don’t like to see them, he was very careful to keep it out of my sight. He explained the process in a very understandable way. He was thorough with his aftercare instructions and very gracious. The place is incredibly clean and sanitary. Everything was packaged. I highly recommend tribal rites!

I got a lot beautiful tattoo yesterday. The while experience was wonderful! The people who work here are friendly and welcoming and make you feel super comfortable! Amanda the actual artist was awesome! She really worked with me to make sure I got the tattoo that I wanted and made me feel comfortable. The prices are very reasonable for amazing experience and the quality of the place and tattoo. I would definitely go back for my next tattoo.

Super helpful, knowledgable, and most importantly professional staff; getting a nipple pierced wasn’t sketchy or weird, but nice and relaxing. Coming back for sure.

I’ve had two piercings here, an upper helix and my right nostril. Both were done perfectly in every way, from the placement to the actual piercing procedures themselves. I’m by no means fearless when it comes to needles (I can barely get a shot without crying) but Sam – who did my most recent piercing – was able to put me completely at ease. He was even able to win over my mom, a very skeptical and suspicious healthcare professional who was not about to let me get pierced anywhere that she didn’t think was completely sanitary and professional. For my nose, I was a little unsure about Sam’s recommended placement, but decided to defer to his judgement – and boy am I glad I did! It looks so much more natural with my nose shape than the placement I would have chosen; just goes to show how experienced and good at what they do these guys are! All the employees are really nice and friendly, and it was a very quick and easy experience – took under 30 minutes, altogether. Would absolutely recommend, they’re wonderful!

I came here to get a double helix and was a bit intimidated about it but Hayley was so awesome. She made me feel super relaxed. Both the girls when I went in were super nice and chill and knowledgeable.

I live in Denver but I’ve traveled to Boulder for my last two piercings (tragus and septum) simply because I love the customer service here. Every employee I’ve come into contact with has been so personable and helpful, and both of the gentlemen that pierced me (I wish I could remember their names!) made me feel totally at ease about the entire process. Despite the fact that it’s out of the way I’ll gladly make the trip down to Boulder for any future piercings because they managed to build a really positive relationship with me in the brief window between walking in the door and having a needle in my body.
Customer service aside, the shop was very clean and their prices were reasonable, so I really have nothing but praise for this place.

Kevin was AWESOME. He instantly put me at ease about my piercing and made me feel super comfortable. They also have an awesome deal going on– $ 25 for a piercing (jewelry included). It was well worth it! I highly recommend tribal rites and ESPECIALLY Kevin Coleman :)

I went in to this shop in the fall of 2015 to get my rook jewelry changed.
I took off one star because of the guy at the jewelry counter. He was extremely brusque and unconcerned with my questions about jewelry. When I went in, it was a little busy; there was a group of college girls who had just gotten pierced and another group of teens waiting to get pierced, so I understand that my jewelry questions were not necessarily a high priority. However, I had never before been to a piercing shop where I was treated like I didn’t matter, so that wasn’t cool.
I took a second star off of my rating because the piercer who changed my jewelry didn’t even introduce himself to me. He just waved me back and sat me down, which was kind of unprofessional in my opinion. I like it when piercing shops are kind of casual, but I didn’t appreciate being treated like a number.
I took a third star off because they simply don’t have the jewelry selection that other piercing shops have.
I was surprised to find that this shop used to be connected to the Tribal Rites in Fort Collins. Honestly, the one in Fort Collins is way better due to their friendly service, laid-​back yet professional atmosphere and jewelry selection. If you’re looking for a good piercing shop near Boulder, I recommend the Tribal Rites in Fort Collins over the one in Boulder.

Amanda has done two of my tattoos now; she does great work and is always friendly. I have also gotten multiple piercings here, and everyone is always professional and nice.

I had gotten my nose pierced at another piercer in Boulder and had the worst experience ever. I went here to get my nose ring changed out and the customer service was excellent and the environment was very welcoming and clean. They took very good care of me and didn’t charge me to switch it out, just for the jewelry itself. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.

Just had my second tattoo done, this time by Nathan. It goes without saying that the tattoo is perfect, because he and all of the artists are extremely talented. Nathan took the time and effort to make sure the details were solid. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable, the place is super clean and organized, and it looks great after the remodel. Tribal rites strikes me as the kind of place that is suitable for body art veterans and beginners alike. Could not recommend it enough and will definitely be back for more work in the future.

Fantastic! I brought my 15 year old daughter here for her 2^nd hole ear piercing. She was a little freaked out at first after learning they would use a needle– not a gun like her first time. I read that needles are the better way to pierce ears and wanted to do this right. She had a great experience! Chris was so sweet and patient and explained everything he was going to do. My daughter said it hurt a little but definitely agrees it was better doing it this way. Please don’t go to the mall to get your ears pierced– come here. Worth the drive!

I went in 3 months after having my nose pierced to have the folks at Tribal Rites guide me as I am having surgery and need to have all metals removed from my body. They were incredibly helpful and suggested the different types of things I could wear during surgery (glass or plastic). I chose the glass piece but it didn’t fit in my nose, so they made a few for me out of plastic that were extra long since my nose was aggravated. I feel like these guys go above and beyond to ensure their customers have a good experience. Couldn’t recommend them more highly!

Quick follow up– ear healed up nicely. We followed the cleaning instructions to a «T». It’s perfect.

I got my ears pierced by Chris, who was super patient, explained the whole process to me, made sure I was happy with the hole placements, and did a perfect job, as far as I can tell anyway. Super friendly, good natured, very knowledgeable. You just know he loves his job, and he is exactly the type of person you want jabbing you with sharp objects.
This shop is very hygienic — I loved how crazy clean they were from start to finish. It was $ 50 for the two piercings and earrings (plus tip), and I walked in, no appointment.
I’m not one of those people who thinks things happen for a reason, but… damn, my experience here was so lovely that it has put in question the very foundation of my philosophical convictions… or at least my Grinch Who Stole Christmas attitude about the Hill. Seriously, this place makes even the Hill look good.

Coming from a town in utah with extremely expensive and nice piercing shops, I was skeptical about Tribal Rites. My biases of getting sketchy piercings in a college town were completely wrong as soon as I walked in the door. It was nice inside. not the fanciest. The piercing room was sterile, and the piercer was SUPER nice. I got my septum done, and everyone at home talked about how bad theirs hurt and how they almost passed out or whatever, mine didn’t hurt at all. He hit the sweet spot for sure. It has healed super well with no problems. Anyway. I’m rambling. Just go here. Get whatever you want. They’ll hook ya up.

This is an awesome shop for Boulder. Can’t remember the main dudes name, but he’s super legit. Quac (spelling?) is his apprentice. I went in to have them check my old ear holes for possible new jewelry. After an exploratory session, I was back. This time for 10g gorilla glass. The people in this shop are so chill, easy going and comfortable. After picking out my 10g clear gorilla glass plugs, it was back to the chair.
The surgical approach lets you know they know what they’re doing. Quac marked my ears, made an adjustment, clamped me, punch my holes and before I knew it, I was done. No pain, no hassle, no stress, nothin. Totally happy.
From my 2 visits and paying attention to their customer interactions, Tribal Rites is the legit shop to go to.

I’m upgrading my rating to 4 stars from one star based on a few emails back and forth between Mike, the owner at Tribal Rites and me. His emails were extremely customer service oriented, he apologized for the way we were treated and he assured me that our experience was not in line with his or Tribal Rites’ feelings on customer service. Mike truly seems to care and employees do have bad days and mistakes do happen; what you do to remedy the situation is sometimes even more telling than if the problem hadn’t occurred. My original review is below but consider this revision when deciding to do business with this place or not. And if you do have an issue, I’d simply ask to speak to Mike. I’d be surprised if he couldn’t make it right for you. Additionally, Mike pointed out to me that he has two other shops, in Longmont and Westminster, and that both of those are better setup for families whereas this shop (which is admittedly closer to my house) caters more towards students.

…the staff was rude. I felt extremely unwelcome and after trying to find something positive about the place, finally just have up and left. My 16 year old daughter was in to get a simple piercing and I brought her younger sister who wanted to provide moral support. The rude staffer insisted she couldn’t even sit on the couch which was sectioned off from the rest of the shop and when I asked what I should do with her, he suggested I leave a 7 year old girl outside by herself.

I was somewhat skeptical about getting pierced at a place on the hill, but this place exceeded my expectations. I got two lip piercings, and everyone I encountered was very friendly, helpful and thorough concerning how to take care of my piercings. The shop looked very professional and I didn’t get any kind of ‘head-​shop’ feel about the place. Tullia did my piercings, and she was awesome! She answered all my questions, was patient with my finding the right placement and got it done quick.
As far as piercings go I will definitely be back in the future if I decide to get another piercing done. The selection of jewelry is also quite good compared to other shops I’ve been to in the area.
