What an impressive evening at prevots. My boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner this evening however, we wanted to keep it local. So, being that the Brentwood area only has a handful of nice restaurants to choose from and with Prevots being one of them, I decided to pay them another visit. I have been to Prevot’s several times throughout the years and have never been extremely impressed. However, this evening was far impressive. We arrived around 6:00ish and the place was fairly quite, with only a few other occupied tables. We got an intimate, nice table in the back secluded, with the lights slightly dimmed creating a great romantic feel :) They have a great selection of options to choose from on there menu. We started with the appetizer of the Prawns Bordelaise which is Tiger prawns sautéed with shallots, garlic, mushrooms, Tomatoes, white wine and cream. For our Main course my hun and I decided to go with the Chicken Parmesan Baked breast in tomato and mozzarella They Have the pre fixed selection which comes with salad and pasta however, I opted for the Chicken Parmesan a la carte, as my babe ordered the pre fixed. I also ordered French Onion Soup Gratinee for a side along with a glass of merlot. Bread arrived while our wait looking fresh and appealing, along with a yummy dipping oil(I’m not much of a bread person though, I did take a small bite with the oil and it was great) Our appetizer and my soup arrived shortly after presented beautifully and delciousously appealing– which turned out to be so. The flavor and quality of the sauce on the prawns was fantastic! My only complaint is the prawns were so small and barely visible though, taste was phenomenal! My soup had to be the best French Onion Soup I have had yet– The Cheese on top was incredible and melted to a thick yet soft consistency and the flavor of the soup was not lacking in the least definitely a winner in my book Finally our Chicken Parmesan arrived mouth watering appealing and quite generous in portion. The breast was thick and smothered with melted mozzarella cheese surrounded with an incredibly tasty tomato based sauce that was truly outstanding! I also had several bites of my huns pasta included with dinner, which was Muah! Delish as well! Needless to say, we were stuffed and quite happy! Our server delivered outstanding service, the food was just incredible and we didn’t break the bank. I definitely am looking forward to coming back soon!

My husband and I only had an hour and a half left on our babysitter clock so we ran into the bar at 7:30pm, on a Wednesday night. Salsa and Marc Anthony were playing and lo and behold Salsa lessons were starting! Hey now! They offer free salsa lessons on Wednesday nights. There were at least 4 couples learning to salsa on the dance floor! We sat at the bar and the owner, Dorese, was super nice and hooked us up with my favorites. For dinner I had the Veal Tortellini Manicotti which was delicious! My husband had the taco salsa and loved it. It arrive with huge chunks of chicken. Our drinks were prepared quickly. Me: 3 martinis. Him: 2 beers. Friendly service– Will definitely come back and check out their prix fixe menu for $ 22. Not a bad deal, or their happy hour! BTW, Glad the construction outside is over so it’s now easier to get into the restaurant!

I only am giving this 4 stars not 5 because we went for Happy Hour and just had wine and appys. but the Bruscetta was amazing and fresh, the Prawns were delish -(what was that creamy sauce??) and the escargot a delight. Of course, we got Oysters — and they were yummy, too! we will for sure be going back for a «real» dinner!

I wasn’t planning on getting a bite to eat this particular night, but it was Thursday and we were down at the Brentwood Car Show which takes place right outside Prevots and we had gotten a table out front and decided to order a few drinks. I went inside and ordered a glass of wine and a Caprese Salad(my favorite salad). The women helping me took my credit card, and charged it, then went on to pour my glass of wine, served me my glass of wine and never returned my card. When I asked her for it, she had thought she had given it to me, she went looking for it then realized another waiter had gotten a hold of it and charged my card for another tables entrees as well. She assured me she would not«close out» the charge and it would never post to my account. I took her word for it and sat back outside. Finally our Caprese salad comes out. I swear it was literally 3 slices of an unripe red tomato, and 3 small slices of mozzarella cheese. That was it. Not worth the $ 10 at all!!! I did enjoy the bread and my wine, which is why I gave 1 star. Then yesterday I’m online doing my online banking and what do I see… the charge for the other waiters table DID show up on my account and the funds were debted. I was so mad since she was certain it was not going to be an issue and I would never see it. I called the restaurant serveral times to settle this, finnally getting a hold of her, and she tells me she will call me right back. I wait serveral hours with no word from her, so I call back again, she had obviously forgotten about me. After her looking and her records of the charges for the day I was there she now insists the charge is going to be reveresed by the next buissnes day, we will see. I know mistakes happen, but I still will never go back, because of that and also because the salad was so BAD!

We arrived a little after 9:00 to check out the music but my friend couldn’t stop talking about the bruschetta. The chef was already mid-clean up but still allowed us to order. After it arrived I understood why. Their bruschetta is just cold diced tomatoes sprinkled with fresh basil. The only effort was in making the toast. The menu is filled with other items I’d love to try though! After our snack and a couple drinks we were ready to get down with the The Edwins Brothers, who put on a fun show — I can definitely foresee a future visit.

I have been to Prevots since last year. On this Friday night there was a wedding receitpion. We we’re given a private back room away from the music and parting since we had my little niece with me. The service was excellent. We had crab cakes that was filled with real crab meat. The smoked salmon appetizers with onions and capers were great. Our meals consisted of chicken marsala, pasta with Bolanese sause, rib eye with mushrooms. Everything was wonderful

This place has the potential to be a great place because of the location and the food is decent, maybe a bit over price for the portion. From what I understand the owner is struggling because of a recent divorce. Our experience there was extremely poor, the owner Dorsey Prevot is RUDE, ARROGANT, UNPROFESSIONAL and maybe bi-polar. Too top off our bad experience at the end of the nigh I witness Dorsey having a dispute with her chef about not being able to pay him in full because they had not made enough money that night. I think she didn’t know I understood Spanish and therefore ok to have this conversation in public. I can go on some more about various other bad things that happened the night we were there but basically just want to warn you not worth your time or your money.

I went to this small quiet, but lovely town recently on my holiday off and wanted to eat lunch somewhere different than the usual. Driving around the town I found this unique restaurant and what a gem it truly is. The atmosphere and design was unique and different. Likewise, coming to a place like this I expected an overpriced menu, however, I was awestruck to find that the lunch menu was a lot cheaper than I expected. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. Pros Service: Was attentive and extremely friendly. Food: Was relatively cheap for the lunch price and quality of the food. The sandwiches was yummy and the fries was different but delicious. Atmosphere: The design was unique and subtle. Cons Complimentary: Bread was not my cup of tea.(Dry and the sauce was not for me) I would definitely recommend this place for a lunch escape.

This was supposed to be a French place w/an oyster bar. I saw nothing on the menu to indicate much French or Oyster Bar. I started with Clam Chowder. It was medium-thick but more milky than creamy in flavor. It was a decent chowder but not a really good or memorable one. Next came the dinner salad. The salad was a generous mix of lettuce, carrot strings and red onions with a creamy vinaigrette. It lacked any real character and I could not recognize any major flavors in the dressing so I could not discern what their«house dressing» was. I had the Veal Prevot(their version of Veal Marsala). My wife chose the Fillet of Sole. Mine was on the $ 20 Prix Fixe menu. Hers was ala carte at $ 18. My veal description was, «Grilled slices of veal with Prosciutto, Mushrooms, Mozzarella and Marsala Wine. Hers read, «Fresh Fillet of Sole Dipped in Egg and Sautéed with White Wine, Lemon and Butter. My entrée was also hearty in size with sliced baked potatoes and sautéed string beans for a vegetable. The 3 thin veal pieces were sautéed then dipped in hot Mozzarella Cheese and with a medium-brown Masala Sauce. The veal was tender but the sauce was a little bland with almost no taste of the Marsala Wine. Even salt and fresh ground pepper could not perk it up enough to be very interesting. I was very disappointed. I ate only 1⁄3 of it and took the rest home and the next day, I made a roux of olive oil, garlic, minced onion and Marsala wine for the left over and it was so much better than their bland, tasteless sauce. My wife’s Fillet of Sole was more successful. She liked hers. She reported the sauce was nicely balanced with just enough flavor to compliment but not overpower it. It came with the same potatoes and string beans as mine. Her portion size was plenty for her. My wife has a fondness for Cherries Jubilee and wanted to give it a try. We should have cut our losses and skipped it. First, it was not flambéed at our table! Second, we could not taste any Kirsch, the liquor that is supposed to be a part of the sauce. Third, the cherries tasted like they were canned fruit — a bit akin to the kind you find on the grocery store shelves for cherry pie filling! This is cherry season and Brentwood is cherry territory! I was mystified! The way I see it, you get a lot of food for a moderate price. My advice — skip this place unless you like large portions and dull tasting food. Jim

My bf and I decided to try Prevot on a last minute whim one recent Saturday night. We wanted to go out but didn’t want to drive too far. It was a warm evening and the courtyard with the outside seating looked inviting. A couple was paying their bill as we walked up so we asked if we could sit at their table. It took at least 10 minutes for them to clear our table although it seemed like they were adequately staffed. At one point after the table was cleared, but before it was set for service, we asked the hostess if we could sit down and she condescendingly stated, «As you can see, they are still setting your table.» I wasn’t really hungry but after I saw the caprese salad on the menu I had to order it. My bf ordered the Monte Cristo. Both were very good. We ordered the bananas foster for dessert and it was decent. For Brentwood it’s doable but if Shutter’s would’ve been open we would’ve gone there! I suggest you do the same.

Had the prix-fixe menu at Prevot’s that consisted of salad, soup, calamari appetizer, pasta dish, and NY Steak. That was a lot of food! By the time it got to the steak, I was pretty much full. While mostly everything was good, the steak was a little disappointing. It might have been that the sauce they used on the steak was overpowering. I didn’t know the steak would be prepared this way, but it was still ok though, just wasn’t blown away by it. Overall it was an OK dining experience.

Not too far down the street from Brentwood’s Co Co Wine Company was our next stop on the tour, Prevots. As you read we’d been here before so we were trying to guess what they had in store for the tour-goers. Nothing. Yes you heard me right, nothing. Apparently, speaking with the gentleman who was turning people away, they served up too much and those that were lucky enough to partake were overly gluttonous. If I had to take an educated guess, I bet those weren’t small bites like many of the other places we’d been. On to the next stop!

Hmmmm… where should I begin? It was my husband & my first Valentines day as a married couple so we wanted to have a nice, up scale dinner that we didn’t have to drive to far to get to. Well, after this evening the drive to a better restaurant would have been worth it. My husband & I arrive promptly for our 7:30 reservation to a packed restaurant. We wait at the front for 15 minutes before we even get a chance to speak to hostess to check in. When the hostess, who was one of the owners, checked our names off the list she didn’t apologize for the wait or tell us when/where we would be seated. She did however seat the couple who had just come in at the last two seats at the bar and in which had the same time reservations as us. Seats that should have been offered to us. This was already enough for my husband to step outside to try to call another place to eat instead. As my husband was on the phone outside, the rude hostess/owner told this old guy to sit me & my husband to a table. If I had not been evesdropping the old man would have taken off with out me! Too my surprise, the old man began to walk outside and grabbed another couple. While I am trying to figure out where this old man was taking us, I had to shout to my husband to follow us. The older gentleman take us and another couple to what they call the«wine room» but it looked more like a holiday inn conference room then a upscale french cuisine. Once we sit down, I pick up my napkin and it was dirty and looked as if it had been burned by cigarettes! We ask our waitress for a new one, which she never did. We had to ask the buss boy to get us a new one twenty minutes later. Food: soup tasted like Campbell’s, watery and no flavor. Salad was a joke. i didn’t know one tomato and ice berg lettuce constituted as a salad. The bread was so hot that my finger tips are numb. We had to ask 2 times for butter. My water was never filled up, food was served cold. My husband ordered the fillet Mignon rare but came out over cooked and tough. My salmon was OK, the veggies and potatoes looked good but they were cold. Service: the worst service that I have ever experienced. Rude, slow and just down right pathetic. If you are a owner of a restaurant shouldn’t you take pride in what you do? Our waitress took pity on us and gave us a free teramisu, I felt it was decent, my hubby was too pissed off to enjoy it. As we were walking out the same owner, said thank you and hope you enjoyed your dinner. My husband said no we didn’t and wont be coming back. Once she heard that she chased us almost to our car. She hardly listened to our complaints and all she could offer was to buy us a drink! Come on a $ 100 dinner and all you can offer is a drink? What about our time and money that was wasted? Bottom line, don’t go to this place. Go to Caps, they treat people well and are always consistent.

We went here on a Friday evening. I had the Salmon my crime partner had the shrimp scampi. both were very delicious. The reason I only gave it 3 star was because of the service. It took forever to get my ice tea. Also had to ask for more bread, and more water. At the end of dinner, I had to ask for the check because they took so long to come to our table. We really didn’t know who is are waitress. I probably come back here again, but not for another couple of months.

Prix Fixe Menu is good. Really good. After 2 years of trying, I finally enjoyed a dinner here. My lovely wife wrote this version here: My version is like this: This fine dining establishment is a few steps from the Delta Theater in downtown Brentwood. The downtown is one of the my favorite parts of Brentwood. It instills in me a sense of roots and small town. A place you want to call home. Prevot is nestled in here. It’s an oyster bar and grill, but I won’t eat oysters. Just realize it’s a grill that also serves many fine wines, and you guessed it… sushi! They have a sushi bar. Maybe next visit. My only visit was all about the Prix Fixe menu specials. 3 courses and the main dish. Mrs. N and I share most meals, so it’s fun to order things that make us both smile when reading or hearing the description. Also, we at least get one good meal. In this case, new york strip topped with onions, bacon and mushrooms were for me… calamari steak for her. Both were good. Mine was better. And so it goes… The place is softly light and comfortable inside. The service was very good. Parking can be trying, so park closer to Oak Street and enjoy the walk along the tree-lit sidewalks. Smile all the way there and back.

We have been meaning to try this place out for a few months now. As we passed by the front window and took a good look inside, I was a little apprehensive about my attire. I was seeing a lot of jackets, sweaters, etc. I was dressed in heels, jeans and a sleeveless top. I was also a little concerned about what kind of prices we may be looking at. We debated coming back another time and decided to go ahead and go in. We were very pleased. As we made our way further inside, we realized that the atmosphere varied greatly from casual to upscale. We were seated near the middle and had a great view of the kitchen and bar. To describe the setting: white table clothes, Sinatra playing softly in the background, soft lighting and bottles of wine. The menu is immense. Some highlights: Escargot, deep fried prawns, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, potato skins, hamburgers, sandwiches, pastas, seafood, steak, lamb, chicken and an entire sushi menu in and to itself. There is even a Monte Cristo on the menu! On top of that, the waiter then described the Prix Fixe menu on the back and added about 6 choices not in print! Everything on the Prix Fixe menu was $ 18, with the exception of Lobster Tails. I selected the calamari steak and Mr. N selected the new york strip topped with onions, bacon and mushrooms. They brought out soup, salad, pasta, bread and the main course. By the time they brought me the main course, I was already on full. Now, the reason I reserve the one star is that the calamari was just ok. I wouldn’t order it again. Everything else was great and I will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items. Mr. N’s steak was really good, adorned with an excellent sauce. I selected a glass of the Franese Sangiovese and enjoyed every sip. I eye spied the bartender hooking up fellow staff here and there and thought that was pretty cool. All the workers seem to have a great rapport with one another and it lends a great vibe to the place. As our waiter asked if we would like to see a dessert menu, he brushed the crumbs off of our table cloth. It’s a little gesture but always makes me feel pampered.

Prevot has a huge selection of items on the menu– French, Italian and Japanese. This is probably their biggest problem. There are just too many items for them to do one thing really well. Food: Marginal. Had the fixed menu– soup, salad, pasta and entrée. I will give them kudos for delivering this menu for a Denny’s on steroids price of $ 16. The soup was clam chowder and it was a generous portion. Decent. Next came a small green salad. Unremarkable. The pasta, eh. The entrée of filet of sole breaded with a butter sauce was very good for the price. Washed it down with an Italian Montepulciano for a reasonable $ 21. Service: We arrived at 8:30 on a Friday night and sat at the bar. We didn’t get our entrée until 10 pm. The server and manager(owner?) stopped by to apologize for the wait. The kitchen was way behind. Ambiance: Stifling hot on this evening. Probably the open kitchen. Bathrooms are out in the common area courtyard. The mens room was smelly and the floors were covered in urine. Blah. The glasses in the wine rack above the bar were dusty and dirty to a point where it was a little disgusting to look at. An aggressive price of $ 16 for the fixed menu means two stars. Otherwise, I probably would have given it one star. I won’t go out of my way to return to Prevot.

Heard great things about this place so was very excited to give it a try. First 5 minutes I should have known how the night was going to go. They didn’t have a use able highchair in the restaurant. What kind of a restaurant doesn’t have a safe high chair especially in such a family town. Then with the preset menu they serve a veal pasta which we don’t eat veal. We simply asked if we could get a plain pasta with just a meat sauce. Shouldn’t be to hard of an adjustment to make for someone. I understand its a preset menu but to just change the sauce they throw on the pasta should not have been that big of an issue. They finally did it though. We also ordered a sushi roll. The soy sauce tasted so bad I had to ask for a different one but that was just as bad. It tasted like it was fermented and soured. I tried to eat the sushi roll with out the soy sauce but the roll was probably one of the worst sushi rolls I have ever eaten. Not sure where they are buying the fish from but they need to find a new company. On the brighter side the soup came out and that was edible and pretty good. The salad was good as well however they need to check the croutons because they were chewy. The pasta came out and it was very bland and had no good flavoring. I had the chicken Parmesan and that was actually decent would recommend that dish. However the broccoli that it came with was pretty comical. I thought it had cheese on it and thought oh that’s interesting and sounds yummy however I took a bite and quickly realized that it wasn’t cheese it was butter! They had put soooo much butter on the broccoli it actually looked like cheese. Hopefully this place is just having some bumps in the road because its new because I really want a good local restaurant to support.

This is a new addition to downtown when other businesses are closing grateful I am to have this restaurant come here. The atmosphere is very comfortable. You don’t get that look like you are an intruder when you walk in. In fact, there were several people dining by themselves as well which is a sure sign of comfort. The menu is huge with a multitude of things to pick from. You can order anything from Veal Scallopini to a Sandwich. They have a good wine list and a full bar. The staff is very helpful and really nice. They treat you well here. The Oysters Rockefeller were were the best I’ve had in years, and the appetizer platter had all kinds of goodies on it. I just want to go back to keep trying different things which won’t be too hard to do. The best thing about this newcomer? The prices. In these tough economic times… the prices are great. Very reasonable and will cause me to have to drop some cash. Enjoy!
