Few things are as stressful as moving and choosing a mover is the most stressful part because you never know what you are going to get. I went with all star because of the Unilocal reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. Rodney led me through the estimate process and the prep for the move. He was responsive and professional and his estimate proved accurate.
The movers were all courteous and polite and professional. They packed us up with no issues and transported our stuff to Maryland from the UWS. The all star staff made a stressful process easy and painless.

I’ve had some really terrible movers in my NY life, which have left me traumatized. From the get-​go when All Star stepped in, I felt at ease. They seemed solid, reliable, Nd friendly. And wow– they were exactly that in real life! These guys were not old unbelievably strong, but fast moving & brought a great feeling of calm to my move. Highly recommended!

It’s now 2015 and All Star is still the best moving company I’ve dealt with. I rehired them to move some stuff out of a storage space and into my apartment for me. The crew was courteous and and cheerful to deal with, and they were even a bit early, though they had to travel from Brooklyn to Hoboken to pick up my things. Wouldn’t work with any other movers.

They charged me $ 145 per hour + travel time, but forgot to tell me that it did not include the containers. So every bin used was an extra $ 7, barrel $ 5.95, book box $ 2.95, and bubble rap $ 12.
The estimate was around $ 700. The final bill was more then DOUBLE.
I feel like they could had moved faster too. Specially on the delivery. I found myself and my partner unloading all bins and only one person delivering the bins, while I hired 3 movers. I had to ask him to stop and help me put the furniture back in place.
Also, I realized later on that they inverted all my knobs on my drawers (bookshelf/​dressers, etc). A completely waist of time. Mostly because they wrapped it after with a sheet/​cover.
They could have been more proactive. Perhaps, I should have micromanaged them.
Anyway. It took me about 5 hours to load my stuff into the truck. I feel like it could had moved faster, since I had 3 guys + my partner helping.
They will definitely drag if you don’t keep your eye on them.
The most strange thing towards the end was that I was not a able to pay with credit card, which they told me I would. Also, I was asked to write a check payable to «cash out», instead of the company’s name. I did not do that, but it was weird.
Towards the end, everything was delivered. A few scratches here and there, but this is not a 5 star moving company. Their equipment is functional, but old, including their truck.

If you’re moving these are the guys you want! This company really is as good as it gets. The office workers were extremely knowledgeable, patient and courteous during such a stressful time for me. They made sure everything was in order and I was at ease before the move had even started. When the movers showed up they got right to work and had my home completely packed and moved in much less time than I thought was possible. A big THANKS to All Star for a such great moving experience!

These guys were fantastic! On their way to my place, they got stuck in NY traffic, and promptly called to let me know their ETA — very appreciated. They carefully wrapped all of my furniture and were so efficient. They were professional, worked very hard and actually got done even faster than I expected per their quote, which was itself very fair. I was extremely impressed and would recommend them to anyone! Do not hesitate to use these guys!

An expert crew from All Star Moving and Storage moved us in mid-​February, on a slushy day with a three-​inch snowfall in progress. They worked with competence, humor, and speed and got everything over to our new place safe, dry, and without a scratch. They managed the tightness of brownstone stairs and corridors with confidence, outstanding communication, strength, and skill. They weren’t beginners; they knew what to do on every instance. The bill for their services even came in below their very fair estimate. When we move again, All Star’s is the only number we’d need. Use them in confidence.

I relied on Unilocal to find this place, so I’ll leave a little love (and, trust me, I waited until I had used their storage services and reclaimed my things and settled my account to write this).
Rodney & Co. were super responsive (usually via email), friendly, and flexible. They took good care of my things and I recently emptied my unit and found everything as it should be (and not smelly! and not dusty!). The pricing was fair and closing the account was easy. All around a good experience. My things were packed and prepped in my apartment in upper manhattan and stored in their facility (in Brooklyn) for about 8 months. Everyone I encountered/​worked with was personable and professional.

We moved just a few days ago. We moved about two months before that and used them as well We had a great experience both times we moved. We also used them for storage while we waiting for the renovations on our Coop to finish up. They were very professional, on time and communicative. The cost was really reasonable– my giant pile of worldly possessions were all delivered (into the correct rooms and everything) within three hours of their start time. And they were kind to my dog (who was just so sad that she couldn’t get cuddles from the new humans) — so that’s always going to give me the warm fuzzies.

I needed to vacate out of place fast because of graduation, the gentlemen at all star came to my rescue, they quoted a reasonable price, packed all my stuff carefully and efficiently, they were cheerful and professional and hauled it all to their storage where they kept it safe for me.
Rodney and co love what they do and it shows, they were professional, customer oriented affordable and above all kept all their promises. Thank you!

I love that my review is being called an «overreaction» when I’m still having issues with the card. I’ve had seven overdraft fees since the incident. Seven. It still hasn’t been properly sorted out with the bank. Yes, it may have been a mistake but it’s a mistake that has consequences.
Calling this an overreaction is dismissive and sexist because it’s a term that’s used to control women from expressing their anger. I was lied to, had my stuff broken, and Artie made sure to complain excessively in front of me in an effort to guilt me for… existing? He complained about moving my stuff every time I was in earshot. It was obnoxious and annoying.
I was never even going to leave a review for the problem until I was overcharged on a HOLIDAY WEEKEND, left without funds, and had bills bounce. I was going to let all the issues with the movers go UNTIL my credit was damaged. It took over a week for the owner to get back to me and that was only AFTER I left the negative review on Unilocal.
The crew was horrible and now I’m being patronized by the owner who is micro-​managing and tone-​policing my review. Great.
Richard, your company screwed up my credit card permanently and I’m legitimately angry about it. It doesn’t matter if it was human error, it’s a feeling I am allowed to have. Anyone in my position would be angry. I’m also allowed to be angry about dishonesty from the crew.
It’s telling that you call the crew member that lied about plugging in my AC a «poor fellow» and that «a level of intensity» excuses his lies. It doesn’t and it’s another example of tone-​policing. There is no excuse for turning on a strangers AC and then lying about it. None. End of argument. I’m not angry about the AC being turned on, I’m angry about him lying about it, not apologizing, and then you excusing it because I may have scared him into lying. He is not a child, he’s a grown man.
We talked for nearly two hours where you apologized but you also said if I didn’t alter my review you would contact an attorney. And then you leave that reply to my review. Own up for your lying crew. Do not make excuses for their behavior. Do not blame me for allegedly being «intense» when asking who turned on my ac to 64 degrees with all the windows open.

I’m really impressed with these guys. They moved us on June 30 from a 1 BR on the UWS to a 2 BR in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn apt was a co-​op with a million rules and regulations about COI, timing, security guards etc and they took care of everything.
We had packed ourselves and were completely packed when they arrived. They took care of both dis-​assembling and reassembling our queen size Ikea bed. They wrapped and padded all our furniture. They fit a sofa and big chair through doors, unscathed, by removing the legs, but also by being knowledgeable about how to aim the sofa at the the door. (I swear I didn’t think it was going to fit.)
They were on time, worked hard and got everything moved with a minimum of misery. (Moving is by definition miserable.) The people I spoke to in the office were pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. The movers themselves were the same. The price was fair and there were no unexpected charges. I would use them again in a heartbeat. They were everything I want a mover to be.
(As an off-​topic aside, I used plastic rentable bins instead of cardboard boxes for this move. THEY ARE THE BEST!!! I will review elsewhere, but if you are moving you gotta try these. I will never use cardboard boxes for moving again.)

I used this company 4 years ago and had a great experience with a difficult moving situation. I didn’t do a review then because I thought it was a fluke with it seeming too good to be true. Now after using them for a second move (which was much simpler), I am confident that this company is really high quality and definitely worthy of the high scores on Unilocal.
The movers and office staff were really professional and friendly. They give you information and guidance ahead of time and bring a lot of their own supplies and are efficient and careful with actual move. The prices seem very good as well although I admit I did not do any extensive comparisons. Basically I felt like they were the opposite of all of the negative stereotypes people have of movers.
As for negatives, they didn’t tell me that I would be responsible for paying any parking tickets that they incurred while on the job until the move already had started. They didn’t get any, so it wasn’t a big deal, but I felt like they should let you know that in advance (I don’t know if this is standard practice or not for hired movers). They also were about 15 minutes late for one of moves. They let me know that they were running late around the scheduled move time, and ended up finishing the job early anyway. But it did make me a little nervous when they weren’t there on time.

I hope I never have to move again — but if I do I am for sure calling All Star again! Ryan and his team were not only professional and friendly, they moved my furniture and countless books/​dvds from the Lower East Side to Brooklyn quickly and efficiently. One guy even strapped my loveseat to his back and carried it up to my 4^th floor walkup BY HIMSELF. These guys are like Superman, seriously! I couldn’t be more impressed!

This is a LOOONG overdue review, as All Star moved me a little over three years ago, but since I am contemplating another move, it got me to thinking about them and I realized I’d never written the review I’d intended.
I spoke, at different times, to Rich and Nick, and I received a quote for packing up my entire loft and moving me from Jersey City, NJ to Syracuse, NY. The quote was broken down into it’s components and every charge was explained to me (materials, labor, loading/​unloading, transportation, etc) so I knew what I was paying for.
Day of the move the crew arrived early in the morning and set to work packing everything into boxes (their packaging was excellent, and nothing was damaged in the move). They worked all day packing and loading into the truck, and as evening wore on, it looked like they might not be able to fit everything into the truck, so they called for a second truck to arrive and be on standby (they did end up getting everything into the single truck, with not a spare 3″ left – master of Tetris).
The next day they drove up to Syracuse where we met them on time, and they unloaded everything uneventfully. There were no surprises with the final cost, and I was extremely pleased and would not hesitate to use them again.

Definitely a «whoohoo!» These guys were the best! I hadn’t even finished packing by the time they showed up, and was really nervous about it. They said, «No problem, «and that was that. Everything was packed and moved without complaint. Nothing was broken. I even found several pieces of gold jewelry that I’d forgotten about. I found my jewelry neatly, and safely packed away while unpacking. I wasn’t surprised, though. The gentlemen who did the job were well mannered, and very kind.
Upon reaching my destination, every box, and piece of furniture was quickly placed where I requested. They even grouped kitchen, clothing, etc…, which made unpacking that much easier.
Needless to say, this is now my go-​to moving company –quick, efficient, friendly, and accommodating. They were recommended by another great moving company on this site. Good call!

I’m glad I did my research before planning my move from Douglaston, NY to the burbs of Philly — Boy, did I do a good job… I found All Star Moving and Storage based on all the positive reviews I read and also by asking all the right questions up front. I was concerned about what I had heard that movers give you one price right up front and then jack up your price in the end. I expressed these concerns to Chris and received a phone call back from Rich, the owner. We decided that the price quoted was capped, and that I would not have any additional charges.
I booked my date and the time was confirmed the day before. And there they were pulling up in front of my home at exactly 8:02 in their very eye-​catching blue truck.
The four movers in Queens (Roger and Ami just helped with the packing and loading) Roger, Ami, Brandon and Clive were a very fun and friendly group with a fabulous work ethic. They worked none stop and had the truck loaded and ready to go in a little over two hours!
The unloading was done just as efficiently and it is now three days later and I’m still surrounded by many unpacked boxes, but I felt that I wanted Rich, Chris and the crew to know how wonderful a company this was to work with. One that I would not hesitate to recommend to any of my friends.

This testimonial is long overdue. Last August during Hurricane Irene we were scheduled to move. Conveniently, the center of the storm was forecast to hit on Sunday of that final weekend, which is exactly when we had an appt with another company to do our move from Manhattan to Brooklyn. As the media played up the potential severity of the storm and the weather reports were looking grimmer and grimmer, I panicked and did everything in my power to move our appt up to Saturday. Nope. Can’t do it. Not possible. Are you crazy? A hurricane is coming! I was freaking out.
As luck would have it, someone from another company whom I can’t remember referred me to Richard, who is the owner of All Star. She said, «If anyone can help you out, it’s probably him.» Well, she was right. Richard was honest with me and made it clear he couldn’t promise anything, but would do his best to get a crew together who might be willing to brave the impending storm and «get ‘er done.» He delivered on that promise. His estimate was fair, accurate and he stood by his word. An honest and trustworthy man.
The crew showed up early on Sat morning and proceeded to bang out the job with superhuman strength and a surgeon’s precision. This was our first experience with bulk movers and I have to say, I was completely flabbergasted by these guys. Not only were they herculean, negotiating loads I never imagined anyone would be crazy enough to attempt, but they worked quickly, thoughtfully and with care. They were like a well-​oiled machine, highly organized and efficient. I’m a bit hard pressed to remember the actual timing at this point, but I think the entire process took about 4 or 4.5 hours to move a 2BR apt in the West Village to Park Slope. In the rain! NONE of our stuff was lost, damaged or compromised in any way. Those guys were total ninjas and very nice, too. Complete professionals from start to finish.
Admittedly, I was nervous they were going to expect and demand some insane tip per person and bleed us dry, but they didn’t. I gave them a healthy tip and thanked them profusely, which they were very appreciative of and gracious about. I would wholeheartedly recommend using All Star without reservation. Richard and his team are class acts and run a great business. Thanks again, guys!
