This is a review for Dr. Frank who works at this practice.
We are first time parents who had a horrific experience with Dr Frank. She sent us to ER when our son was 4 days old because he had normal but bordering on low bilirubin levels for jaundice, and was a home birth (which she openly disapproved of) so she wanted him checked out.
When we got to the hospital, the ER Pediatrician said he didn’t understand why we were there, but they would run some tests because Dr. Frank ordered them. To make a long and painful story brief, our son was suddenly subjected to a 5 day hospital stay, a spinal tap, extremely powerful antivirals and antibiotics… all to find out he was totally fine and nothing was wrong with him at all.
When we got out of the hospital we went to Dr. Frank to follow up. She did not remember us, and proceeded to diagnose our healthy son with three more problems: an eye infection, a staph infection, and a yeast infection. We left with 3 prescriptions and were even more devastated.
She then called three days later to follow up on the staph infection and make sure we were treating it. I asked how he got a staph infection? She nonchalantly said that they were common with hospital stays. This infection gave me mastitis… a whole other nightmare!
The kicker was when Dr. Frank called again two days later yelling at me for not returning her calls about our son’s staph infection — she was really concerned that he wasn’t getting treatment. I explained to her that we had already spoken, and she swore up and down that we had not. After we spoke for a few more minutes, she said, oh yeah, I do kind of remember talking to you.
We never saw Dr. Frank after that. Our new pediatrician said nothing was wrong with his eyes and he didn’t have a yeast infection. She is a horrific doctor who over-​diagnoses and sees only problems, not the baby. If you are home birth, stay away.

I’ve been coming to Dr. Glaser’s office for two years. My daughter is school aged and I wanted a pediatrician that was close to home and competent. My childcare coop recommended this office and Im glad they did. The front desk staff are engaging and pleasant. Documents are always filled out upon request and appointment times are adhered to. On occasion we have Dr. Glaser’s associate NP Riza. She is the best. She takes her time, documents observations in detail and is diligent when identifying symptoms/​side effects.

I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Glaser for my four day old baby with a day’s notice. She was so great. Extremely knowledgeable, thorough and patient. Answered every ridiculous new mother question I had. She took the time to make sure I was breastfeeding properly which I really appreciated. I’ve now had four appointments with her and I’ve been consistently pleased. I find her straight forward but certainly not gruff. She’s direct, which I appreciate. I will admit my baby is healthy and hasn’t had any major issues, but I would trust her opinion if something serious were to arise.

My kids have never been seriously sick but in the five years we have been going to Dr. Glaser she has always been wonderfully kind, smart and straight forward with us. My daughter is now thirteen. She and Dr Glaser have a real rapport. We have been happy with her referrals.

I love taking my god daughter to this practice — Dr. Glaser is incredibly experienced, and I trust her opinion implicitly. They are super committed, and when my best friend was breast feeding, the expertise and nurturing she received was beyond our expectations. We joke that I will need to move to Brooklyn when I’m pregnant, because there’s no one better in the city. Which makes me wonder: did all the parents with kids move to Park Slope in the last decade because of Dr. Glaser? Probably.
Not sure where the bizarre one-​star reviews come from. I secretly wonder if these are from current patients who love Dr. Glaser and don’t want anyone else booking up their precious appointments.

If I could give negative stars, I would. Frankly, I don’t understand the positive reviews on this doctor. The negative reviews, and my experience, are enough to revoke her license. I asked her once about the rings under my daughter’s eyes and she actually had the nerve to say that it was hereditary — I have them too. I had asked her repeatedly to take my concerns seriously and she never did. We ended up with severe constipation — she sent my daughter to a dirty, awful hospital in Brooklyn and never checked on us. The hospital experience was so horrible that it scared all of us. Then when we spoke — after a battery of tests where nothing came up – she had the NERVE to say, «its not an IF that there’s something wrong with your child, it’s a GIVEN.»
AMy Glaser is an angry, mean, awful doctor. THere’s clearly something wrong in her life. SHe shouldn’t be allowed to practice medicine.

Dr Glaser has been my children’s ped for 10 years. I thoroughly recommend her.

Dr. Glaser was on a list of pediatrician’s that I got from my ob/​gyn. She wasn’t available for my son’s first visit at 1 week old. Her associate checked him and told me to bring him back in a few days, which I did. During his second visit, Dr. Glaser’s associate said he had thrush on his tongue and prescribed an antibiotic. But on his next visit, a few days later, I told her that the antibiotic wasn’t working because his tongue looked the same. She told me to stop giving it to him because she realized it wasn’t thrush but milk solids sticking to his tongue.
A few months later, knowing that I needed a new pediatrician, I found a cyst on my son’s chest one morning. I looked it up online hoping to find someone say the symptoms were nothing but couldn’t find any condition for an infant that fit my son’s condition. So I reluctantly called Dr. Glaser, waited for her to call me, called my job and let them know I was going to be late or not in at all and never heard from Dr. Glaser until I called her again.
When I reached my job, I told my coworker (and fellow mom) about my son’s symptoms. She has two boys, 5 and 2, and told me that she never heard of it. She also told me that I should definitely call the doctor again right away. So I did, and Dr. Glaser was more than happy to tell me to make an appointment the following Monday. It was Thursday and she expected me to stay calm, allowing the condition to worsen over the weekend till she could see my newborn at a more convenient time!
My coworker was able to recommend a new pediatrician, who has sick visits and was able to see my son that same day. So I made an appointment with the new pediatrician and haven’t looked back.

Dr. Glaser is an excellent doctor with a no nonsense attitude. Her office is efficient and friendly. My kids like her and she is great to them. We are all very happy with her.

Dr Glaser’s office has been fantastic with our baby — everyone is kind and patient from the front desk to the nurses, and Dr. Glaser is amazing. I really appreciated her communication style — she put me at ease with my concerns about breastfeeding and general baby care right away. I hope that we find a pediatrician as knowledgeable and caring in our new city!

The Dr. Came highly recommended but her staff it horrible. While in the waiting room I over heard them bashing the doctors. Saying how one doctor doesn’t want to go home to her kids and how they want to get out early. Just very unprofessional. Hope she reads this an makes a major adjustment to her staff.

Dr. Gordon and Dr. Glaser seem to have very different attitudes toward families and toward the practice of medicine.
A while ago, they split their practice (although awkwardly for them I would imagine, their officers are next door on 8^th Ave.) After year of seeing both of them, we went with Gordon, who we always experienced as being warm, knowledgable, non-​judgmental and, an added plus, kind of funny. We haven’t been sorry.

Dr Amy is an intuitive and sensitive doctor. «Gruff» «Poor bedside manner» whatever. I don’t want my doctor to sugar coat the issue. I want her to make my kids better. And she does. She tells it like it is. That being said, my kids– now 3.5 and 5.5 adore her– they make her pictures and want to bring her presents when they go. My son wants to be a doctor because of her. Dr Amy saved my life and my daughters life. She was the first to spot and address my post partum depression. She was the first person who taught me how to nurse properly and successfully. Her staff bends over backwards to help, fill out forms, etc. She is extremely meticulous and thorough. I was a nervous new mom, now I am a confident mom of healthy kids and I have her to thank.

I was a patient of Dr. Glaser’s back when she still shared a practice with Dr. Phillipa Gordon, from middle school up until I turned 21. When I gave birth to my son, I was excited to use them as his pediatricians.
Until he ended up with a high fever when he was just under two months old, that is. Dr. Glaser examined my poor listless, lethargic baby, and decided that we would need to go to the ER for further tests. She suspected a few things, a UTI being one of them, and placed a plastic bag with adhesive over his genital area in order to collect a urine sample. Everything happened rather quickly, and I was in quite a panic, being a new mom and being told that I would have to bring my first baby to the ER! She told me that she called ahead and made arrangements and that we should go to Brooklyn Hospital for some tests, and ask for Dr. So-​and-​so (I can’t remember her name).
We went to the hospital immediately after leaving her office. First of all, of all the hospitals that she could have sent us to, I don’t know why Brooklyn Hospital was the one that she picked. The place was dirty, we were put into a room where only half of the lights were working, and everything took forever.
Secondly, when the ER Dr. So-​and-​so came in, she informed us that the plastic bag over his genitals wasn’t sterile, that she didn’t know why Dr. Glaser would have put it on because you wouldn’t be able to get a sterile urine sample, and that they would have to put a catheter in him to get accurate tests results. Why Dr. Glaser wouldn’t have know this is beyond me.
Thirdly, Dr. Glaser mentioned that we would have to go to the hospital for some tests. She never mentioned that for babies under 60 days old with high fevers, a spinal tap was a mandatory test. HOW could she not know that?! And when someone tells you that they want to do a spinal tap on your baby in a room with bandage wrappers on the floor and with only half of the florescent lights working, it’s like, whoa. Are you serious?
When I called Dr. Glaser’s office to verify if all of this was necessary, there was no answer since it was closed. I called the messaging service multiple times in an attempt to get in touch with her or her partner because I was panicking and wanted to know what to expect, and if a spinal tap was really necessary.
To make a long story short, we didn’t feel safe having our son ADMITTED (another thing Dr. Glaser didn’t mention… I was expecting to go the the ER and see Dr. So-​and-​so for some tests… she never prepped me that my baby would require a spinal tap and a hospital stay of a couple of days while they monitored him and waited for test results) at Brooklyn Hospital, so we made arrangements to transfer him to New York Presbyterian in Manhattan, which was another debacle… Dr. So-​and-​so threatened to have us arrested if we removed our son from the hospital.
TWO DAYS LATER, Dr. Gordon (Dr. Glaser’s partner) finally returned my many frantic calls/​messages.
That experience (plus the following check-​up that we had with Dr. Gordon) made me leave their practice.
I was so upset. I was a new mother, completely freaked out that something really serious was wrong with my baby (it turned out that he just had a UTI), and Dr. Glaser didn’t tell me what to expect, didn’t know that the plastic bag urine that they taped to my son’s junk was pointless, wasn’t available for me to speak to in an emergency situation, AND THEN didn’t even directly return my phone calls and messages.
I’m sure tons of other people have had fine experiences with her. In fact, in all the years that I had seen her as a patient myself, I would have told you that she was a fine doctor, just rather gruff. However, that whole experience was beyond reprehensible and as a direct result, I couldn’t trust her (or Dr. Gordon) to be my son’s pediatricians.
On a side note, my mother always used to joke with my brother and I when we were little that we should only get sick on the days that Dr. Gordon was in the office, because she was put off by Dr. Glaser’s gruff bedside manner.
