Quaint little hole in the wall place with lots if savory foods and super cheap prices. Excellent beef patty, but he chicken one was a bit bland… and it was a good thing there was plentiful amounts of hot sauce to use!

You got to try this place. This is authentic Jamaican /Island food. I tried many in Brooklyn but nothing like this place. It’s been around for a long tiime and really hole in the wall, but food is awesome. I like their chicken curry and my wife likes fish. I want them to stay here so whenever I visit Brooklyn College, u can have authentic food.

This is the go-to place for Patties Hands Down, Period End Of Story… They have Spicy Beef, Regular Beef and Jerk Chicken Patties made on site. Yes you can get Oxtail and Jerk Chicken but that would be missing the point. Also it should be mentioned that the Newb Caucasian Woman reviewer is DOUBLY missing the point when she’s whining about the lack of Vegetarian options. You can find the Colonist Yuppie Ripoff Version Carribean cuisine in Park Slope or better yet go to one of the many vegetarian restaurants in Flatbush if you do your research. However if you are interested in THEREALMCCOY, eating patties that Native Brooklynites of Carribean descent,(And Brooklyn born White boys like myself who ate them with friends since the 90’s before gentrification), have since the jump off, then you want to come HERE. Do not pass go and collect 200 Dollars… This is THE true blue Carribean Pattie Joint.

Stopped in for a a quick patty and I enjoyed it but it was pretty average. I stopped in because I liked the name«Angel’s flake» because it made me think of a flaky pastry so delicious and light that the angels must be eating it in heaven. The patty wasn’t that good but I realize those are totally unrealistic expectations. Happy to hear they make them on-site(some places just order from another restaurant and re-sell) but was disappointed that they only had one vegetable patty and no vegetable entrée.

I was taken to this little storefront by my jazz singer friend Maria Sartori-Spencer who lives nearby. I usually stay with her when I gig in NY, New York… anyhow, here is my review for this lovely and tasty place. Classic old timey storefront with 2 tall tables and a wall counter to eat at. The husband and wife team are sweet and always have a taste of something for you as you walk in! A pastry case filled with puddings and sweet breads provides the centerpiece, a tiny steam table nestles up to it and releases an intoxixating aroma of spice and sauce. What is under those lunchroom looking lids? Jerk chicken… with its dry yet moist rub, a great family recipe here. Oxtail in brown gravy… to die for! They managed to buy all the tiny pieces, my fave… side note: I love the way the butchers on Nostrand Ave. cut oxtail, thin, for easy cooking. Chicken Roti, had by Maria, was perfection. Brown stew chicken was REALLY nice with plenty of peppers and onions ;-P Good rice and peas(the loose and dry type), white rice, and a few other options including two fish! and of course… The Patties!!! Behind the counter in a heated glass case holds four or five choices including veggie. This patty is large and very thin… no curry in the dough… no chutney available… and not necessary. Spicy beef and regular chicken were my fave, picked a few up on my way to Penn station as sustinence for the 24 hour train ride back to Chicago. This place is now on my NY Foodie list ;-D I will go back!

The beef patty was great, like top 5. Oh, but the roti blew. And made me blow chunks all night. I have an iron stomach, I have an appetite for great West Indian food but JESUSCHRIST, what emetic are they disguising as curry in there? also– service not so great. really guys? white girls like jerk chicken too. I’ll stick to crown heights for my roti needs for now on :(
