Description

Specialties

While strolling through Little Odessa in Brighton Beach, you may notice a bright orange awning decorated with Cyrillic characters and a blue teapot. The Russian lettering roughly translates to Café At Your Mother-in-Law, where a unique fusion of traditional Korean, Russian, and Uzbek cuisine join forces to create a dining experience unlike any other in Brooklyn.

Café At Your Mother-in-Law was named as an ode to everyone’s mother-in-law, who will feed you well once she has accepted you into her life. We offer a wide variety of hot and cold soups, including kuk-su and lagman, salads, entrees, and desserts, all made-from-scratch using family recipes that have been passed down for generations. Some of our most popular dishes include our plov, samsa, and hye of eggplant. You’re welcome to bring your own alcohol, and we offer a few homemade beverages that are excellent mixers for any spirit.

Our portion sizes are as generous as our prices at Café At Your Mother-in-Law! You won’t find anything on our menu over $ 10 and many of the items on our menu can be purchased by the pound. We offer delivery within ten miles of our restaurant and take-out is also available. Next time you’re in Brighton Beach, come enjoy a meal at Café At Your Mother-in-Law! We’re looking forward to serving you.

History

Established in 2010.

Café At Your Mother-in-Law has been serving Brooklyn and the surrounding cities since 2010. The history of the unusual fusion of cultures found at Café At Your Mother-in-Law’s dates back to the 1930’s, when Stalin forcibly relocated thousands of ethnically Korean families from the eastern border of the Soviet Union to Central Asia. These families, already familiar with the zesty flavors of authentic Korean cuisine, eventually began adopting some of the more tepid ingredients found in Russian cuisine and found that the flavors worked in tandem to create delicious and balanced meals. The fusion of flavors found at Café At Your Mother-in-Law is unlike any you’ll find in Brooklyn! With over six years of success, we look forward to adding you to our long history of happy guests.
