Unfortunately I am unable to understand how Dr. Platt has so many positive reviews. On both visits I had, the first for a general check up and cleaning and the second for a filling, Dr. Platt was rough and unprofessional. On my first visit I waited in the chair while he took multiple phone calls. At one point I was ready to leave and then he walked in and made a comment like «keep me away from the phone.» In addition to the technician making me extremely uncomfortable with the x-​rays, Dr. platt was rough and proceeded to spray water all over my face and hair during the cleaning. It wasn’t s light mist but literally water dripping out of my mouth down my shirt and completely taking off my makeup. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He told me my teeth looked pretty good yet I needed to have a cavity replaced and there were was another area of decay. So on my next visit I should not have been surprised that once again my shirt was now soaking wet, water was all over my face and my hair. He did not seem to care as he saw me wiping off my face multiple times. I could live with that if it wasn’t for the neck pain I endured as he yanked my head to the side to face him instead of him moving behind my chair so I could sit comfortably. As he worked on the tooth decay and composite filling, he seemed a bit careless and rushed. (Now four days later there is composite filling residue on my teeth that makes them feel rough compared to the others in addition to a small cut on the outside of my mouth where he had used some sort of tool to hold it open very wide). He mentioned that my appointment would take longer than he stated because I asked so many questions about the now 8 fillings I needed instead of 2 at $ 110 each (although I had insurance). I was baffled that he would be so insulting about a patient asking questions and then blamed me for not understanding at the first appointment that i needed 8 fillings…8 FILLINGS! That’s $ 880! In addition to all this (which should have been enough to leave), during my second visit he touched a dirty looking fan plug with his gloves on and then used those same gloves in my mouth. Later during the appointment someone came into the office and again he put his hands on the door frame while leaning out to talk to the person.
When I decided not to have him do the 8 fillings and stop at the three he was not annoyed with me, but seemed understanding. However when I wouldn’t make an appointment right away for the other 5 fillings I supposedly needed, he said something along the lines of «make an appointment… you don’t want to have a root canal.» You can understand my confusion over his weird manipulation from the first appointment to the end of my second! I went from having a great check-​up to being on the verge of a root canal with 8 fillings.
I’ve had some awesome dentists where I’m from and I’m sad to say that Dr. Platt lacked professionalism, cleanliness and communication (did I mention the eye-​rolling that occurred when I tried to understand why I needed eight fillings and told him I wasn’t sure I could afford $ 880). Do yourself a favor and try another dentist.

Though he does nice work (even if he is a little heavy-​handed), Dr. Platt’s bedside manner and relationship with his female staff left me feeling very upset. He barks orders at his dental assistants and praises his own accomplishments.
