History

Established in 2010.

Lau Gallico and Giancarlo Romero decided to open a small gallery after years of showing and curating their own shows. Both SVA Alumni, they have manifested their vision through IN RIVERS after deciding the art world in Greenpoint need a new outlet which allowed for new ideas and community involvement.

Lau hales from Northern NJ and has been a painter all of her life. After graduating from SVA and continuing on to Advertising and Marketing, the incredible urge to create hands-​on drew her back to her first passion, fine arts.

Lau has shown throughout Manhattan and NJ, and has curated shows on both sides of the river. Moving to Greenpoint inspired a sense of community in her and after finding the space, her vision of disseminating art in all of its forms has finally come to fruition…

«If I can say one thing about art its that we must share it. It is our duty as artists to document, translate and bring to life, through our work, what we live in today. These works we create are imperative to humanity, futile as they may seem at times. They are a message, a time capsule, presented without the constrictions of language, but capable of changing the world around us.»
