We specialize in different varieties of both whole fish and shell fish, and carry many different types of ingredients to go along with your seafood such as lemons, onions, garlic, pasta’s, parsley, peppers, etc. to ensure you have everything you need to prepare the perfect meal.

History

Established in 1983.

This is a 2nd generation family run business that has been operating out of the Brooklyn-​Queens area for the past 30 years. Originally started by Gerardo Zollo and his youngest son Luigi, it is now in the care of Pasquale Zollo and his son Gerardo Zollo.

My name is Gerardo Zollo, a lot of people call me Jerry. I am Pat’s son & this business has been in my family since before I was born, & It is my intention to see that it is still around for my son to be a part of. Ever since I can remember my father smelled of fish, not the disgusting fish smell that most people attribute the fish smell to, but a light smell of the ocean, & that is how I like our market to smell. I grew up watching my father put in long hours & hard work into this business to insure he could provide for his family. It’s not an easy life but it is a full one, & now that I am finally a part of the mix its an exciting one. My main goal is to bring this old school family run business into the 21st century & to see it grow to its full potential. There are many things that I have grown to love about this place, and I you will to. I encourage you all to join us on our journey. Welcome to our Market.

Came in here for live lobsters and got a few monsters that I steamed up for Lobster Rolls. I also came in here for Catfish and it was fresh as can be, great never frozen stuff. I highly recommend. I know very little about seafood but don’t feel at all intimidated in there.

Don’t ever go here if you’re looking for fresh seafood. Came by here to get some scallops, guy asks me how many pounds, I said «one pound please and he replies «that’s all you’re getting, just one pound?» I said «umm yeah is there an issue?». He proceeds to roll his eyes and takes my bag to the back for God knows what. Price tag is on it, I pay and leave. I come home and start prepping, and there’s what appears to be MAGGOT LARVAE in the scallops. I bring it back and he gets defensive and begins talks to me in a threatening tone and says he’s «going to call his crew» on me. I filed a police report and one with the better business bureau. Don’t support this disrespectful owner!

Fresh shrimp with the heads on, whole sardines, $ 5 bags of cooked crab legs – I was very impressed with their fresh selection and reasonable prices. Add on the excellent customer service from the owner, and you have a very satisfied customer. Looking forward to returning!

Modest, straight-​up no frills fish monger with high quality catch at very reasonable prices. They advertise what is daily-​fresh, and are helpful with questions. I came in wanting Monkfish but they were disappointed to have none. We chatted about alternatives, they provided options and described their texture, taste, fattiness, and other qualities. I liked how down-​to-​earth they are. Will be coming back on a regular basis. Very excited.

Oh YES! This is the place you go to in Williamsburg, Bushwich, or Greenpoint when you need FRESH seafood! The selection is good and the quality is fantastic!
The customer service is the best EY, FUGGHETABOUT IT! Super friendly, knowledgeable and fast. You will not have a chance to stand around and wait here ever and no snobby attitudes… Iv gotten salmon, scallops, shrimps and lobsters here and there is no comparison to any Supermarket in the area. Bargain hunters beware the prices are higher then the supermarkets, but cheep seafood can easily ruin your weekend!
They have a small section of onions and garlic in case you need to grab up some extras all in one place.
Next to try on my list will be: Lump crab meat, and King Crab Legs… i’m passing on the live eels but if your looking for it, they got it!

My wife stopped here the other day 8÷29÷14 for some fish for a church event. She said they were knowledgable and nice. She was promised that they would have a fish she wanted the next day. They kept there word and she’s a happy woman.

Discovered it few days ago after having bookmarked it and stumbled upon a closed door on sunday morning… I finally made it though i haven t buy anything there yet. I did the first visit to have a look and see what s happening there. It all looked good to me. Fish is covered, so are the mussels, clams and oysters (yes they have oysters, 1.25 $/​15 $DZ, same price as Rosarito’s), crabs and lobsters are swimming, plenty of frozen stuff in the fridge, and somewhat friendly sales guys for a first approach. I had to take a look before buying something. it was empty when i was there but the number of fish and products kind of prove they sell stuff. They had a lot. i will go back, buy, eat and update my review.

A wonderful little gem in the neighborhood. Great selection of fresh fish & seafood. Contrary to the other reviews, the staff has always been very helpful and friendly especially Gerry. I asked him for his opinion on what was the best way to cook my monkfish was and was was kind & knowledgeable. Needless to say, it was my best seafood dish thusfar.
Great prices. Would def recommend! So happy I live right down the street.
PS– it is FISH MARKET. of course it is going to smell a little fishy.

A great store to get seafood.
Whenever my wife and I crave oysters, but don’t feel like spending too much, we’d go there and get few different types of oysters and shuck them ourselves at home.
We’ve also purchased various types of fish from there and everything is always fresh.
The only thing we don’t like about going there is the difficulty of finding parking (street)

Expensive and fish selection is ok.
One day I saw an average joe step off his bike and sell the owner a large fish, he apparently caught of the docks or bridge somewhere nearby. who knows how long that fish was hanging outside water. or health conditions… This place is a fraud…

I went to metropolitan fish market yesterday because I wanted to buy lobster. However, when I got inside I saw some beautiful jumbo shrimp that were calling me, as well. I had about 60 dollars in cash and not enough to cover the lobster and shrimp. The owner of metropolitan did something that many business owners should consider… customer service. He said take the shrimp and you can pay me tomorrow or Saturday. I was amazed and shocked, not because people are incapable of acts of kindness, but because many shop owners are concerned with the here and now. I walked out feeling valued and respected. I will be here to purchase all of my seafood because places like these are truly one in a million!

This is THE place to buy seafood in Williamsburg/​Greenpoint. While I’m a fan of Tops on the Waterfront (N. 6 Street), this place has it beat on selection & freshness.
I crave Alaskan King crab once a month and I’ll make fish/​seafood once a week generally. This joint has my back with red snapper, halibut, monkfish, shrimps galore and much more.
Lobsters — Incredible pricing.
Staff — People are griping this guy/​that guy’s a dick… It’s all about how you take it and give it people. I’m a dick. I have zero patience and am often rude (so I’ve been told). BUT Me and the owner got along just fine. He even stayed open late for me to drop in and grab some crab. The staff is friendly and willing to chat about what they have, what’s comin in, and what you want. That’s what I want.
I’m now hungry for Frutti de Mare… guess where I’ll go to get my ingredients?

I tend to stay away from places that smell fishy but MFM (not to be mistaken for male for male) is an exception.
The space is small but they have a nice variety of seafood to choose from. From whole fish (bronzino, red snapper, striped sea bass, etc.) to scallops (small and diver) to live lobsters to lemons, limes and much more. The attendant was super friendly and helpful… he even asked if I wanted the fish cleaned/​gutted which totally slipped my mind.
Also, the lobsters are from Maine or so they said. I have to believe them because they were extremely fresh and had a slight sweetness to them. The prices threw me off — there were 2 tanks I’m assuming by size. The smaller lobsters were $ 8.99/lb and the bigger lobsters were $ 11.99/lb. What a steal! I called Red Hook Lobster Pound and their prices were substantially higher. Quality (which is questionable because MFM’s lobsters were quite tasty) and popularity may have a factor in this.
My total came to ~$ 45 — 1 whole striped bass, 6 or 7 diver scallops, 2 lobsters (1 ½ lbs/​each) and a few lemons. The owner knocked off a few bucks as well.
Looks like I’ll be going to fishy places more often, darn you MFM. This is not a good look, don’t judge me.
