Love the décor — which is cozy and filled with vintage books and unfinished wood walls. The drinks, atmosphere + service was incredible — unfortunately the food wasn’t on point. The carbonara was a little mushy and the veggie entrée was an odd pairing of 2 sweet potatoes, which were nearly raw, a roasted tomato and half an apricot for $ 22. When asked why the potato was raw, I was told it was just the way they cook it. Despite this I would definitely return for late-night drinks!

Love this quaint café… Lovely day time spot for coffee and also perfect for a date night dinner!

Yes, the common refrain is: «I can just make Italian at home.» And yet when we go out for pasta, we all kinda shrug at this premise, and hope for something a bit special. Without a doubt, M&R serves the most unseasoned, bland, loveless pasta I’ve had in a good while. For $ 20 a plate, it’s rather criminal. Drinks, service, and atmosphere are fine, but do not spend your money to eat here.

Really cute space, small and cozy space. We went for brunch and went with the prix fixe as well as ordered cocktails prior. The staff is warm and friendly. The egg sandwich we ordered came out cold and had to be sent back but the other items were fine. While I loved the space they simply need more help. Two people manning the bar, seating, and serving leaves them rushed and overwhelmed. Despite this I would give them another chance

Understaffed so rather slow for brunch, but the servers are lovely and the food good. So come if you’ve got time to relax and enjoy the afternoon.

The best way to describe the décor of this restaurant/cocktail bar is that it’s a classy dive. The place is surrounded by books as well as a baby grand piano, however, some of the walls are missing and the furniture has some age and patina. The cocktails here are great and so too is the food. I recommend the following: Drinks: — Spicy Sailor(Not spicy at all, very refreshing, similar to a Moscow Mule but with Rum) — Violette Brouillard —(Gin, lemon, mint and egg white) Food: — Trout for Two — $ 42(Delicious trout fish with roasted pears, quince and carrots) — Timballo — $ 19(Mashed potato, mushroom goodness, kind of like a shepard’s pie without the pie)

Gorgeous little cozy bar with old books, a grand piano and bright red furniture. Good and reasonably priced cocktails served by a very friendly bartender.

We went for unlimited mimosas, the waiter was French and cute so that was a plus, the portions were tiny but the waiter poured me 2 mimosas at a time so hey can’t beat that. There aren’t many options but I ordered the salmon latkes and they were really good.

The female waitress is rude as hell. You’ll only enjoy yourself if the European guy is servicing your table… too bad he only came around to refill our mimosas… if it wasn’t for her I’d give this place 5 stars

In Brooklyn for a couple of days on tour and just had to wander in here for a meal. I’m so glad I did! I got the steak with duck eggs and it was delicious! I forget what pint I got off their menu but it went nicely with the steak. Service was top notch. We were there at an off time but I could see it getting backed up if they were full, and it would be worth the wait! When I’m back in Brooklyn I’m going back here!

Came for a drink. It was expensive and not made well. Cash only policy made that an even bigger bummer.

Great brunch with awesome service… we had the steak and Cheese sandwiches PRIX-FIXE with unlimited mimosas… but prior to that we had the plain and chocolate croissants… which were baked on the premise. We will definitely be back!!!

Very cute place. They have a pretty cute garden too! The food was pretty good as well. The mushroom and eggs — very fresh and flavorful. Even the bread was nicely toasted. It was so crunchy and not burnt! The smoked trout pasta — great flavor balanced between the salty smoked trout, beans and garlic. Pasta is well cooked. However, the service needs some improvement. They seemed to be understaffed. We didn’t get our coffee until we almost finished our meals. The waitress said it is because their grinder is broken. We ordered a cocktail and it never came. It is such a bummer because their cocktail menu looks amazing. We didn’t know that they have $ 24 brunch prix fix, which include a cup of coffee or juice, and unlimited mimosa, until we paid. The waitress didn’t inform us about this option either. Would give them 4 stars if the service was better.

I’ve been here for a 8pm weeknight dinner and for a late lunch on a Sunday. This is a beautiful spot. Both times I sat out back in the garden area. The indoor bar is beautiful and looks like the fancy library from Beauty & The Beast but with booze, and the greenhouse/sunroom(in between the study/bar and the garden) is idyllic. The garden makes you feel like you’re in a totally different place. It’s peaceful, quiet, and perfectly manicured and decorated with«rustic» wooden tables and café style seating. It’s a gorgeous spot. The food is also amazing! At dinner, a friend and I split two appetizers and a pasta dish and it was the PERFECT amount of food(plus we got to try lots of different dishes– aka we were very happy.) When I visited for lunch, I had the BLT which had some seeerrrious thick-cut bacon and was also delicious. SO, basically, this is my favorite place in Greenpoint. Reaping the benefits of hipster culture one bite at a time. :)

I only got coffee here, but it’s such a beautiful space. The inside is cozy, and the back garden is lush and cute. The staff was a bit distracted, but I was there in between lunch and dinner, so it was an odd time, and it didn’t bother me much as they were all super nice. Decent coffee as well. I’d love to come back and try the food — it looked good(but a bit spendy)!

Five million stars for ambience. Milk and Roses was the perfect choice for an intimate date night. We chose to sit outside because of the perfect weather, garden greens, and the string lights, but every section of the restaurant had its own charm. I made sure to order the $ 1 oysters before happy hour ended at 8PM. They were smaller oysters with good flavor(not briny), but I prefer not to have so much olive oil with each slurp. We went with the braised calamari, lamb & chimichurri pasta, and pan-roasted pigeon. The braised calamari was a bit«goopy.» The dish came with an overwhelming mound of sauce. The other dishes were solid, and I especially liked the beets with the perfectly roasted pigeon(crispy on the outside, tender on the inside). Sun goes down, candles come out = romantic ambience x 1000. Good vibes.

I really like the atmosphere here. It’s nice and cozy with a little bit of class. Old books, piano, and an amazing outdoor space. I haven’t had much luck with the food and drinks though. Last week I ordered a pasta dish(about $ 16) and they forgot the anchovies, so it just tasted like buttered noodles. The were accommodating and brought me a ramekin of anchovy paste, which improved the dish tremendously. Then last night I ordered a cocktail called Violette Brouillard($ 12). I’d tasted this another time, but when I ordered it was terrible. Sort of sweet and floral, but with a really bitter finish. After looking at the description again, I think they forgot the lemon. I probably should have sent the drink back, but I choked it down. Nonetheless, the it’s a really nice place. The wait-staff is accommodating and friendly, and it’s got one of the nicest backyards around. Just don’t be afraid to ask for what you need if your order doesn’t come out right!

Cute little Brooklyn-y spot. We stopped by for Sunday brunch around 11:30 and it was pretty quiet so we easily got a big comfy booth to ourselves. The décor is beautiful. I love the big booths, towers of bookshelves, and piano right in the front. I assume because it was Sunday they didn’t have wifi open, which was fine by us, though seems they turn it on during the week. I wasn’t too impressed with the service. Our waitress forgot to bring out one of the items we ordered. It was only two of us and all we asked for was an order of toast, but she never brought it. We didn’t bother asking for it because she seemed very hurried and not interested in speaking with us. Also, when I asked if they have drip coffee she just said«no», but didn’t think to offer alternatives. This was our first place here, so saying«oh but we do have Americano» would have been nice. The food was great. My husband loved his eggplant sandwich and my egg whites with avocado toast was delicious. I wish the portions weren’t so stingy though — it’s not like eggs or bread cost them a lot of money, but they truly skimp. I loved Milk and Roses but you can get more for your buck elsewhere. We moved to Brooklyn because of it’s charm and complete lack of stingy-ness, but this place has a bit of that. Although it’s not a restaurant Champion Coffee right next door has some of my favorite BK coffee and also offers exceptional breakfast options.

Without exception, each member of the Milk And Roses staff is a credit to the industry. Allow me to explain. The day before New Year’s Eve, I called and asked them the most tremendous favor of my young life — I needed them to help me propose at midnight. Their work was impeccable. The New Year’s Eve party was something wild — a gorgeous, library-esque bar and live jazz band set a 20s kind of tone around a projector showing Times Square. Despite a few astonishingly needy patrons, a great time was had by all in attendance — a testament to the staff’s professionalism and courtesy. Finally, my time to shine — they had provided a beautifully-lit garden and a stealthy photographer, so all I had to do was not totally blow it.(Hint: she said yes!) A great atmosphere, friendly staff, and tasty drinks make Milk And Roses a must-see. Especially if you’ve got someone to impress.

On a warm & sunny afternoon with Prosecco flowing, an assortment of culinary flavors being savored, a hodge podge of gorgeous accents surrounding me, and laughter echoing through the garden of this lovely Greenpoint gem, I fell smitten to Milk & Roses. The serenity of this charming escape engulfs you and instantly washes away the noise and chaos flooding the NYC streets. From the rustic beauty of the outdoor garden to the eclectic allure of the deep red leather banquettes, old piano & array of books adorning the interior, you’ll want to relish in the unique ambiance all around. Fresh & simple flavors fill the menu with Southern Italian influence sprinkled in to many of the dishes. From the velvety goodness of the burrata to the perfectly poached eggs atop rich & creamy polenta, you can be certain you’ll find something delectable to satiate the palate. A noteworthy escape from the Upper East Side and a jaunt that I’ll most definitely be taking again in the near future!
