Movers- To Go

NO SHOWED and left us high and dry with a full truck. I was driving cross-​country to Brooklyn and had arranged with Mike the week before to have them unload my truck at our new apartment. I called Mike in the morning to touch base and let him know of our ETA. Mike said not a problem, just give him a call as we were coming in. Like Lindsay S, Mike started dodging my calls as it was getting closer to our appointment time. I started to panic 30 minutes before our appointment, still not having heard back. Suspecting that he was avoiding my calls, my husband called from his phone since I’d only used my phone to contact him, and he answers right away. «Hi Mike, calling to confirm our appointment.» And he replies, «Oh yes, hold on just one moment,» and HANGS UP! So imagine our panic with a moving truck due back that night, loaded with all our worldly possessions, exhausted from 24 hour of driving, and no movers. Save yourself the trouble. Luckily we found another company willing to come last minute, no thanks to these jerks. And google the number, because they go by many company names.

Like the others, the manager initially quoted me a price of $ 55/​hr for two movers with $ 60 for certificate of insurance. But then they arrived with 3 movers charging me $ 75/​hr, $ 100 for the insurance claiming that it’s because it was hard to find parking. Later, I called their insurance company, and this mover is not even insured by the company that was listed on their certificate of insurance. On top of all that, they made me pay an additional $ 65 for their parking ticket! The original price was quoted as $ 285 and we ended up paying $ 785.
Four police offers ended up on the scene, and they told me to take this up in civil court and report (again) to the Better Business Bureau. So not only do they commit scams left and right to thousands daily, but they are also committing insurance fraud.
PLEASE BE AWARE — they go by other companies such as Marathon Movers, Hercules Movers, Priority Movers, SoCal Movers. They have multiple phone numbers, one of the others being 917−231−7142.

My experience wasn’t as bad as all the other reviews on here but definitely could have been better. The person I spoke to when scheduling the move told me he would send 3 guys and we would pay the full amount at the end of the job. When the movers arrived, already an hour and a half late (which was frustrating since I was waiting at a storage unit, unable to do anything productive), with only 2 guys, they asked for a partial amount up front for gas and tolls after loading things in, but that didn’t seem terribly unreasonable, and the rest of the amount was paid at the end and they didn’t try to scam us for more than the quoted price (which was a flat rate, not per hour). So that was already a step up from previous movers we had used before. They could have been more professional and a little more careful with things, but overall everything went ok. The day after, we realized we were missing something which should have been on the truck– they denied anything being left on the truck but after a bit of calling back and forth they agreed to look again, found the item, and called me back. They agreed to drop it off for me the next day. It’s always a gamble hiring movers, but at the end of day the job was done for the quoted price so I guess there’s that.

I am currently in pursuit to bring criminal charges against these crooks. Anyone here should do the same. They should not be allowed to get away with none of this.

These guys are HOMOPHOBIC crooks!!! They should be locked up. They have assaulted my daughter with gay slurs and broke her mirror. Let’s get these guys reported before they rob and assault more people. They said they would drive off with her stuff if she wouldn’t pay and conned her into paying their «parking tkt». They are downright criminals and need to be persecuted. They lied about their rates and used my daughters belongings as blackmail. They taunted her with gay slurs until she broke down! Nothing short of a hate crime! The reason for the one star is so I was able to write a review.

WORST MOVING SERVICE EVER. I called for a quote, and was told $ 50/​hr for two men. When they arrived two hours late with THREE men, they told me it would be a three hour minimum. I said I’m only moving my bedroom 6 minutes away, it doesn’t require 3 hours. When I tried to call the office to complain about the misleading ad, no one answered. I called 4 times, no answer. Stay away. Total SCAMMERS.

Worst moving experience ever. Called for a quote and made sure there were no extra charges. Movers got there with a completely different charge. Boss called and tolls just to tip the difference. Slowest workers ever! They moved one box at a time and stopped at each stair… even for light things. Scratch up every thing I had because they dragged it even when I asked them not to. Best part… they dropped off my stuff at the curb and drove off. Don’t ever trust these guys. They made moving even more stressful

Worst service ever in life… Quote was 85 per hour for a 24 foot truck they sent a 17 foot truck 3 hours in they took a 30 min smoke break only 2 of the 3 man team I hired worked.
Then they tried to charge me $ 800
For 3 hours. I called the office he threatened to steal my belongings and take them to a storage…
My husband paid them 500 $ for 3 hours work the driver was going to leave with my things … The owner hung up on me and wouldn’t return my calls .
I had to call the police to get them to take my items off the truck.
Unpacking we found they had stolen my iPad, my play station with controllers and my wallet …

Literally the worst experience of my life. My dad sent me the link for this company through craigslist. It says on the Ad 75/​hr for 3 movers, and that the company accepts all types of cards. I called to set up my appointment and the guy told me 75 $ an hour for three dudes, and I said okay. Then when he called to confirm we moved the meeting up to 11 am.
Comes 11:15 am, the movers aren’t there. I call and the guy says he will call the driver and call me back. Never calls me back. Then starts dodging my calls. Blames me for giving them the wrong address, sorry but I gave you the right one. Three hours later these jerks finally show up and move slower than molasses. Literally tortoises. I am handicapped and could move quicker than them. They quoted me 30 min move time, which it took them 2 and a half hours. They also managed to hit a car in my neighborhood with a truck while one of the movers was just standing in the hallway with our stuff smoking a cig and staring at it. The third guy didn’t show up until an hour into the move, so no I shouldn’t pay you for 3 guys. Finally we leave to go to the storage unit. An hour later they finally show up and then comes the works. They won’t give us our stuff because apparently we now owe them 800 $! It was only 4 and a half hours of work. WTF. Finally after crying and fighting, they dropped it to a «discount» of $ 600. Oh wait, but you charge 75 $ an hour for moving and I only pulled out 250 $ for the 3 hours bc one mover wasn’t there for some of it. They threatened us saying they would take our stuff back to manhattan and leave it on the street. Also we can only pay cash. Such jerks. Finally we have to drive 15 min away to go to an ATM. And when we come back they have unloaded almost all of the stuff.
This company is literally the worst. STAY AWAY AND DON’T USE THEM. Move yourself instead. Have your granny move you instead, she would prob be faster.

Terrible. Sent the wrong equipment, came 2.5 hours early and then wanted to charge me for the extra time (I was not even at the location yet). Promised to send the correct equipment, a lift-​gate truck needed for the heavy machines I informed them were needing to be moved, but this never arrived. They overcharge, are rude, obnoxious, dishonest. DO NOT HIRE.

I sold a Murphy Bed unit which needs to be disassembled and reassembled at the purchasers’ apartment. The purchasers contacted Movers to Go and asked if they could disassemble the unit and move it to their apartment for reassembly. Both of our apartments are in Manhattan. Movers to Go assured them that they could do the job. They made an appointment for 12:30 in the afternoon on Friday, ¹⁄₃₀. Both of our buildings have reserve policies up until 4:30 or 5:00. We both reserved that date and time with our buildings. At 12:45 when they had not shown up, the purchasers called Movers to Go and were assured that they were on their way. To make a long and very frustrating story short, this went on all afternoon and into the evening. The purchasers were continually lied to and deceived. They had the driver’s number and they were continually told that they were doing a job in Brooklyn and would either be in Manhattan in ½ hour or that they were on their way. I finally called Movers to Go around 3:30. I gave the person who answered the phone the confirmation number and said that the movers were supposed to arrive at 12:30 and that it was now 3:30. He was so rude. Without a word of explanation, he put me into voice mail. I could not believe it. I called back and my call went directly into voice mail. The same thing happened when the two purchasers called. At that time I did not have the name of the moving company, so I googled their phone number. I was not surprised when I saw a one star rating on Unilocal.Talk about red flags! One person contacted the Better Business Bureau. I am moving in three weeks and live in a studio apartment. I need to get the unit removed from my apartment so that I can pack. I called my building’s office and asked if the time could be extended to 6:00 and they agreed. The purchasers also got an extension only until 5:30. The purchasers gave my number to the driver. He called me around 5:45 and to my shock, he asked me if there was a hardware store in my neighborhood so that he could buy a wrench to disassemble the unit. I could not believe my ears. I called the purchasers and they told me that their reserved time had run out. I told them that I needed to get the unit removed from my apartment and my building would extend the time as needed. Movers to Go told the purchasers that because they were late and could not do the job at their end, they would disassemble the unit at my apartment and store it over the weekend. They then informed the purchasers that they would be charged an additional fee of $ 200 per day ($ 400) to store the unit until they could deliver it and reassemble it at their apartment on Monday. The purchasers finally had to cancel the job. They are now looking for another mover.
So far I will have lost four precious days of packing time.
Not only am I going to contact the Better Business Bureau, but I am going to contact the Attorney General of the State of New York. These people need to be put out of business.

Complete scam!!!
They hold your belongings hostage and make you pay double or triple in order to get them back. Following that they dump your belongings on the sidewalk and flee.

SCAM ALERT!
They quoted me for $ 50 per hour for two movers. I read Fred’s Unilocal review on here after booking them that said they held things hostage after arriving at new place, demanding gas money, insurance, and several other charges. I called to confirm this wasn’t their practice, and the main guy Adam assured me that I was only to pay for the $ 50 per hour plus a tip of my choosing. I should have read the writing on the wall. After packing everything up and arriving at my new apartment, they told me I owed $ 307. We were less than two hours in, but he was projecting it would take 4 hours, plus a $ 40 charge for gas, $ 30 charge for insurance, and taxes. When I called back Adam to clarify, he screamed and cussed at me, then hung up the phone. I felt personally threatened by the mover, so I drained my bank account and gave him $ 300. They finished in 40 minutes (instead of the projected 2 more hours). When I said, «ok so you owe me $ 50 for that last hour, which I will give you part of as tip,» the mover said that the money was already agreed upon and that it didn’t go to them. He demanded a tip. I felt coerced into saying they could just keep the $ 50 and split it as tip with the other mover, but he demanded I pay additional tip on top of the hour I paid for labor that they didn’t use. I asked him to discuss it on the sidewalk instead of in my apt. We did this while the other guy sneaked upstairs and was in my apt. I was able to get them to leave without paying any more money (which was good because I emptied my Checking). I thought about calling the cops halfway through them unloading, but didn’t want to cause any more problems.
As an aside, my roommate unknowingly used them per my suggestion (before I used them), and they kept him waiting at his NJ storage unit for over 7 hours.

They are listed on Craigslist as Las Minute Movers. I was moving only a few things, no heavy furniture, perhaps 10 boxes and some other things in all, 2 guys show up late in a graffiti covered rental truck. They proceeded to drop everything (I have some electronics) and then once everything was in the truck, instead of charging me $ 50 an hour (the move took minutes, I expected the extra hour and expected a $ 100 or $ 150 charge) they then added truck rental and gas (illegal in New York State) to the bill with a simple move costing $ 250! I was in a rush, my storage unit was closing in a few minutes, and I had to comply. NEVER EVER USE THESE GUYS EVER EVER EVER!!! If there were negative stars I’d give them that. Morons and crooks.
