Sally & George’s is the best… totally authentic Lebanese food in an un-​fussy, super comfortable environment. The food is delicious and they are all so gracious — the service is excellent. We make the pilgrimage to Bay Ridge just for Sally’s. Highly recommend.

Everyone agrees that the Kibbee balls are the best… I’m on board with that. I’ve never seen a live Kibbee, so I don’t know how hard it is to get their legs open… but they sure do a good job here!
We also had the lamb tartar… another great dish… though not for the raw-​food squeamish. There weren’t a lot of beers to choose from, nothing more exotic than Heineken. But it’s not a beer bar!
Oh yeah, there were lots of vegetarian choices if you’re not a meat-​eater.
The service was excellent, despite the fact that we were stayed late and were keeping the staff from going home. No complaints from them, just «will there be anything else?» And often there was!

I have been coming to this place every since I can remember and it never disappoints. The service is outstanding, the atmosphere is warm and friendly and the food is exceptional. The prices are also very affordable.

My mother’s heritage is Lebanese and growing up it was a real treat when she would make one of her famous feasts for the family. This was like eating at Mom’s table. And she came with me to the restaurant and loved her meal as well. The food, the service, the ambiance. All wonderful. We went on a particularly quiet Sunday afternoon — just three of us and people at two other tables. The waiter/​host was very attentive and spoke a little Lebanese to my mother as well, which she loved. One of my favorite foods is raw kibbee which was so fresh and delicious I wish we weren’t sharing all our plates because I could have had it all myself. To be honest, we ordered several dishes and all were great — meat, vegetarian, yogurt, etc. The mint tea is lovely and special made. Just a great experience overall, and I’m so glad this restaurant has withstood the test of time in Bay Ridge. A neighborhood treasure.

One word. DELICOUS! Everything was absolutely amazing from the moment we walked in. The waiters are welcoming and genuine and the food is so tasty! If your a Lebanese food lover this is a resturaunt you MUST go to!

We started with olives and feta, and hummus with meat. Awesome.
My girlfriend had one of the Kabob plates and I had the kufta in yogurt sauce. Both dishes were absolutely done to perfection. The whole dinner was superb — way above my expectations. We are definitely going back to Sally & George’s.

Partner and I went there with our deal — not sure which one it even was but we had it in hand.
We started off with the appetizers. We tried the filo (which was okay) and the hummus. The hummus was pretty good and thankfully they brought us out more pita bread, which, like gluttons, we had already eaten before our appetizers came out. Whoops.
Dinner consisted of my shish tawook, which was very juicy and tender, and a lamb dish, which was also good. We finished it off with a little baklava — very tasty.
Overall, we had a very good dining experience. The only thing that could have been improved upon, IMO, was that there was a single waiter and the place was actually pretty busy. My guess is they didn’t expect it, since it was a Tuesday night, but he was running around doing almost everything. He was very nice and very apologetic, since we had to wait quite a while for things at times.
I will definitely make a return trip.

ive been going here since i was a baby and seeing some of these reviews is horrifying and i can tell none of you really know what real middle eastern culture is. Service i agree is a bit slow but they only have one waiter usually and two cooks in the back, my grandpa born in Syria cooked many of the same dishes they serve at Sally&Georges, you can literally be stuffed by the hummus, tabouli, and muhammara with toasted pita bread. My little sister adores the lentil soup shell have atleast 3 cups and then stuffed grape leaves. The owners before my grandpa passed away last year, if your a regular they get very close to you always respectful and brings you the best of the best. Now is this review biased well of course, its my culture and my whole childhood is at this very restaurant try the baklava for dessert or the lemon sorbet, you wont be sorry !

NEVER AGAIN!
Go there for lunch on Valentine’s Day. Boy were we turned off. Walk into an empty restaurant. After calling out numerous times, a nasty witch came out from the kitchen wearing a handkerchief on her head. She was not happy. Actually annoyed that we apparently interrupted her from brewing her potion.
Can’t comment on the food since we obviously didn’t stay. Someone needs to try and teach that old lady people skills.

Meh. So many better options in the neighborhood. Heard about the lamb and rice so decided to check it out. It was blaaand. Food came w salad and pickled veggies that were too tart for my liking. Service was okay. It’s an old timer family run joint. Seem to have regular customers.

Pleasant meal and decent food. I think they have taken the «bland» comments to heart because the lamb I had (kafka kebab) was heavily and… interestingly spiced. I liked it and thought it was fine, but my dinner date’s adjective was «disgusting.» I guess it is a matter of taste?
The restaurant itself is very pretty, and on a weekday evening it was quiet without being dead. The falafel appetizer and nice waiters were the best parts!
Also, VERY reasonably priced, especially for table service Mediterranean food in Bay Ridge. Two (generously portioned) lamb entrees and an app were $ 38.

My mom and sister went here, why they chose this place, out of the 100 other great establishments in bay ridge is beyond me. How a restaurant can call itself «Mediterranean» and serve the blandest food, again — Beyond me. The service itself was horrible, however before they experienced that– they asked for some falafeal to go– which was intended for me.
My bf and I split it, what a mistake, because we took turn running in and out of the bathroom.
I say steer clear of this place. Hope they don’t poison anyone else.

When I was a kid I hated this place. It was bland. It was just like eating at home. Then I grew up and I realized how it really is just going back in time to when I was 5 and my Lebanese grandmother would whip up plates of divine grace without dropping her scotch…
Lebanese food is flavorful but not spicy. It has a lot of garlic and herbs but it’s not pungent like Yemeni or Moroccan food. It’s very comforting actually. Yabrat (grape leaves in lemon slashed with yogurt), m’nazli (baked eggplant with lamb, pine nuts and spicy tomato sauce) and tabbuleh on the same day are basically enough to make me cry.
Excellent Lebanese Catering also.

Ever wish you could have truly wonderful, flavorful, and savory home cooked Lebanese food at your local restaurant, because let’s face it, you can’t always keep crashing to fulfill that craving at your friend’s house?
When my beau and I were referred to this place by our Lebanese friend, we knew it had to be pretty amazing. The name of this place doesn’t stereotypically sound anything close to any reference to Lebanon, but simply names the owners of the place. It’s kinda like telling your friends, «Hey, sorry I can’t hang out, but I gotta go to Sally & George’s; we’ll catch up later!»
When we walked into the place on an early Saturday afternoon, who else did we see sitting at the table in the far back of the place other than Sally and George themselves, looking incredibly pleasant, friendly, and inviting into their reigning domain of Lebanese cuisine. We were seated by a cozy window table for four for us two, and the Lebanese music was slowly fed into the background noise of the place. The atmosphere felt very traditional, as if we found a locals’ restaurant and ended up there solely by accident. Our waiter service was impeccable; I haven’t experienced such 5 star service in a while, and it felt so good!
While we munched on our pita and pickled veggies that were placed on the table, we opted for the Sally & George special for two — two veggie dishes and a meat dish to share with dessert, coffee and/​or tea. Prices were fair overall, but this was really a great way to go without over-​stuffing yourself. THE SPECIAL IS ONLY IF YOU IN INSIDE!
The veggie dishes we got were the grape leaves (an obvious choice) and the Lebanese version of a grilled cheese sandwich. So simple, but so simply delicious! The goat cheese of the grilled cheese was really wonderful; we easily could have had a sandwich each, but then we would have not enjoyed the grape leaves as much. A MUST to try!
The Kafta was grilled to perfection and so moist on the inside, I could cry of sheer joy! The rice was moist as well and made our meal feel not only light, but healthy too! So good, so so SO good!
Dessert was a pistachio bird’s nest as they called it, that was a perfect one bite dessert shot, that went blissful with the mint tea.
Nothing was rushed; the food, the service, and us staying there with endless tea. A totally underestimated gem and I hope it stays this way because then it’ll be harder to get a table here!

Buffet??? Lebanese Food??? What?!
Yes indeed, I was shocked and happy at the same time too. Theres about 11 entrees for buffet and alot of appeitizers. Its a great place and the waiters are especially nice. The food is authentic and delicious! The appeitzer platter was huge! Its a couples friendly place

So Tanoreens was crowded so we headed to Sally and George to satisfy our craving. The place was practically empty besides two other couples.
The waitstaff is here is very very friendly and reliable. I started out with the meze platter. The grape leaves were too sour. Everything else: pita, falafal, baba ganoush, hummos, and tabouli was good.
For entrée I ordered the lamb wrapped in cabbage leaves which as very delicious. I only wish that they would’ve given me some rice on the side (included)
My hubby had some stewed lamb with rice. While the lamb was cooked to perfection, the dish was rather bland.
This spot is no Tanoreens but its good and worth checking out. Most people wouldn’t think that with the name «Sally and George» that its Middle Eastern.

We have only ordered takeout. The food was remarkably delicious. Seriously. I don’t know how their service is, but the food itself is truly top-​notch. I’ve always maintained that it’s easy to make good middle eastern food, but it’s difficult to make great middle eastern food. Sally and George, for the most part, have it down right. Unfortunately, they stumble on the oddest things which should be second nature to a middle eastern restaurant. My conclusion is that this is a great place for char broiled and stewed meats. Not so good for other stuff. But what they do, they do masterfully. Seriously. Those ribs of lamb I had were a freakin’ home-​run. Never had better.
One thing I don’t appreciate is that the prices on the take out menu are higher than in-​restaurant prices «due to larger sized protions (sic) due to packaging». I wish they cut the portion size down and simply made take-​out/​delivery the same price as in-​restaurant dining.

A competent hoummus, but nothing to write home about. There’s nothing remarkable about it. Personally, I think it’s a tad too salty and needs more garlic. Perhaps it shouldn’t be blended so smooth.
Baba Ghannouj: A–
Nicely done. Would’ve been a strong A if it weren’t a tad too salty. But as it stands, this is high quality baba ghannouj.
Stuffed Grape Leaves: B–
Too tightly packed and too salty. Good, but I’ve had better.
Falafel: C
How can anyone screw up a falafel? Sheesh!!! It was dense, dry, without flavor, and they didn’t give enough of the tahini based sauce. Those suckers were *dry*!
Spinach Pie: C
Major disappointment. Too much dough; not enough spinach. Obviously from a frozen section of a supermarket.
Tabouleh: B+
It’s a good solid, tabouleh. Nice amount of lemon. I wonder if garlic or more scallion and onion would raise the B+ to an A– or A.

The best I’ve ever had in my life. Period. These are not buffalo wings — no tangy sauce. They are char-​broiled and spiced to perfection, and I really mean perfection.

Delicious marinated char-​broiled flavor. It was just a little dry /​over-​cooked. But just a little. I would definitely order this again.

Juicy, delicious, and WONDERFULLY marinated. Very tender. Truly. I would order this again in a heartbeat.

OH LAWD! There is a boulder in my stomach… a giant falafel boulder… maybe a stuffed grape leaf or two… a lady finger as well?
Thursday nights… ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET. Im gonna tell you a little story…
We walked in… saw about 12 – 13 options…95% vegetarian… laying out at the buffet so without reading the sign we made towers of food on our plates… mmm zucchini balls, string beans… home fried potatoes (?!), hummus, etc. After we filled up on these items we got our coffee and dessert…“tonight we have ladies finger. watch out and make sure you count your fingers when your done!” OH! thanks for the tip!
After we scarf down the fingers of the lady persuasion the man comes out with a list on MAIN DISHES. we looked at each other and were like… no friggin way can we eat anymore… no way. 5 minutes later 2 plates of breaded eggplant come out that we hoover in a heartbeat. «Oh that was just dumb… im so full»
Time for some more lady fingers! after 2 more of those its time for the check. All of this food for 2 people with drinks $ 40!
CANNOT BEAT THAT!
Today im having a pregnant day. I feel big. A falafel community has set up shop in my stomach and I feel as though I never need to eat again. Was it worth it? YOU BETCHA.
