This review is long overdue! Fiona did my hair and makeup for my wedding last April and I was ecstatic at the result. Fiona left me looking my absolute best. Before finding her, I was so worried about how my hair/​makeup would come out bcuz 1– I am very picky and 2– I wanted to keep my look simple, but still have the Wow factor and 3– I have tons of hair (long & thick) and nobody ever knows how to manage it/​keep the curl in. After meeting Fiona and getting the trial done– all my worries vanished. She is so professional and knows «wedding makeup» to the T! And she came up with a way to manage my hair AND give me the style I envisioned. Such a relief! Total SCORE!
Her assistant worked on my sister and my mom– both of which are also super picky (my sister is known to redo her hair/​makeup after getting it professionally done cuz she is never entirely satisfied… and my mom is an ex-​hair dresser). Needless to say both my mom and sister looked stunning and they both absolutely loved their look… my sister didn’t alter her hair OR makeup and she was even flaunting her look on FB b4 the wedding. I was speechless!!! My mother looked absolutely gorgeous– the assistant totally brought out all of my mom’s beautiful features.
I like to keep things simple in terms of my look and my now husband, prefers the natural look on me, too. Fiona assured me I would still look natural after all the makeup and she sure delivered! My husband kept telling me how beautiful I looked! I don’t know how Fiona pulled it off, but I looked like ME, but with WOW factor I was looking for… it was like the best version of me. My guests kept telling me how great I looked all night. If I were to redo my wedding day, I would absolutely still pick Fiona & her team in a flash. Thank you ladies, you are so talented!!!

I usually don’t wear a lot of makeup and was very particular about finding a makeup artist for our wedding that could provide a natural, yet classy, dressed up look. After looking through tons of photos, my husband and I decided Fiona was it. She made me feel very comfortable and did an AMAZING job for the wedding. I couldn’t have been happier with it. She also did the makeup for 6 other members of the wedding party, who were all pleased with how it turned out. Fiona has a great personality to work with and is an expert in what she does.

I’ve been bridesmaids a bunch of times and had makeup done that was pretty bad. By bad, I mean that I didn’t’ end up looking like me. I think that’s the weirdest thing about getting makeup for weddings. I recently went to do a trial with Fiona for my own wedding. I really appreciated that she magnified the things she saw as pretty on my face while keeping a natural look. I will definitely use her for my wedding day and I highly recommend you check her out! She also has a calming feel about her that I know will definitely help day of!

Apparently I had prior experience with Fiona without realizing it was her that did my make up for my friend’s wedding. When I arrived to my make up trial (on the day of my engagement shoot), she opened the door and immediately told me I looked really familiar. She said she’s usually really good with faces, especially with ones that she worked on. No kidding about that! Because the wedding that we’re talking about was about 1.5 years ago and she had only seen me once!
That only tells me Fiona has an eye for studying faces and make sure she brings out the natural beauty. I’m not a girl that knows her make up well. On my daily basis, I only put on eyeliner and then leaves the house. So when I told Fiona I have no idea what I want except the fact that I want something natural and don’t look like I’m in some sort of show biz. She knew exactly what I wanted like she was reading my mind. She helped me do a soft make up with a coral lip tone. She told me my eyes look like it could be a little bit dramatic with a bit more smokey eye so I let her do her thing and I’m glad I trusted her. On the day of the trial, she was a little bit more light handed knowing I’ll be in my street clothes for the engagement shoot. On the day of the wedding, she replicated the make up in a little bit more formal way so it matches with my wedding dress. Usually when I get «formal» make up done, I feel like I can’t recognize myself. But I didn’t feel that way withe Fiona, I still looked like me but formal enough that the make up doesn’t get washed out under the camera. She gave my bridesmaid a little touch up kit and I only used the lip gloss and a bit of foundation on my eyes because I cried so much. The make up and hair stayed on the whole night, looking exactly the same as how Fiona left it. (Except my bangs did fall off a little bit, but I was kind of having a bad bang day)
Fiona was honest with me, telling me that I need to hydrate my face more. Teaching me what I can do to improve my skin so she won’t just cake me with layers of make up to hide my flaws.
My hair was the same story, I only said «half up» hair do and Fiona worked her magic. It was such an easy experience with Fiona. Communication with her was easy, not once she left me feeling ignored, she answers my questions promptly and made sure there’s nothing to worry about. As a bride who had a million other things to worry about, it’s always nice to work with someone who can magically read your mind without stressing over the details. Oh, one more thing that is worth praising: I was warned that most weddings are delayed because most make up artists arrive late, setting back the whole wedding. That didn’t happen to me because Fiona arrived early and we got to start and end as expected.

I’m so glad my photographer referred me to Fiona. She is amazing. I met her on the day of my shoot and told her the type of look I was going for (I was pretty vague and maybe showed her only one photo of what I wanted) and she delivered beyond my expectation. I didn’t even know my face could look so good until she was finished with it. Plus, she’s just a really sweet person and made the whole experience stress-​free & easy. I’d highly, highly recommend her to any of my friends

Our wedding was May 2015, and due to some procrastination on our part, our engagement shoot was right before then, in April 2015. We were very late in finding a hair/​makeup artist, so we actually did not look until early April. Fiona was suggested by our planner, and I was so glad she was still free both for the day of our engagement shoot and our wedding!
I went to Fiona for my trial the day of the engagement shoot not entirely knowing what I wanted — I had some photos of some hair/​makeup I had seen that I liked, but I didn’t have anything specific in mind. I just knew that I wanted something that would make my purple highlights look cool.
Fiona make me look awesome — the day of the trial/​engagement shoot, she tried out an updo that would be for the wedding, but then helped to take some of it down so that the engagement shoot wouldn’t have the exact same hairstyle but was still beautiful.
The day of the wedding, Fiona was amazing! My hair and makeup were perfect. Thank you so much!

In the months leading up to my wedding, I knew I needed to choose a hair and makeup artist, and to choose one quickly! However, I don’t know much about hair/​makeup (I bought a curling iron from Amazon 2 years ago and vowed to learn through YouTube… yeah…). After doing a lot of online research I learned that 1) wedding beauty is vastly different than everyday beauty because of the way it has to last, photograph well, and look good in person and 2) it was going to cost more than I had originally anticipated. I chose to book with Fiona after doing a LOT of cross checking with different beauty services to determine value for price and due to her online portfolio demonstrating modern, fashionable work done in the last year (many other salons have very outdated portfolios.)
Our trial run was 3 – 4 hours long, and done at a studio within Fiona’s home in Burlingame. Fiona was so personable and put my sister and I at ease. I was struck as to her artist’s approach to the hair and makeup, in particular testing a lot of different hand-​mixed swatches of foundation all over my face and continuously angling my face in the sun to see how it looked. If I ever expressed discomfort with how something was looking, she either changed it right away or explained how it was purposefully like that due to wedding makeup specifications.
The day of the wedding, I had arranged for my mom and for my whole bridal party to get their beauty done by Fiona and her team. The logistics for it were very simple, we just coordinated the whole thing over email and through my coordinator. For the bridesmaids, Fiona just asked for them to bring pictures of how they wanted to look.
The team showed up promptly at 6:00 AM (the things we go through!) and worked very efficiently with Fiona taking lead and her two coworkers going through continuous 45 min shifts to get through everyone. And it was all successful! I managed to make my groom a little weak in the knees when he saw me, and I and my bridesmaids received compliments all day. I was really happy with how I looked, how the hair and makeup complemented my dress and the garden setting, and how it also went very nicely with the Chinese cheongsam. Later on, Fiona had arranged to show up at the banquet venue to do a touch-​up on my hair and makeup to make sure everything was fresh — definitely above and beyond. Since the wedding, I’ve still gotten compliments on how I looked that day, and I’ve referred several brides-​to-​be to Fiona.
On a day when I was extremely nervous to be the center of attention, I felt really beautiful, and I was grateful to have the confidence that Fiona’s work gave me.

Fiona is awesome. She did my makeup and teased my hair for a photoshoot on short notice for a great price, and did a fantastic job. She’s a lovely person to talk with to boot — don’t hesitate to book her!

Fiona is amazing! I’m from Miami and I decided on San Francisco for a destination wedding. Choosing a MUA and a hairstylist for my wedding from thousands of miles away was scary… I contacted Fiona amongst many other MUA and asked them many questions. Choosing Fiona was the best decision I made. She was quick in replying to my emails, she got to my hotel on time, & she was extremely nice… NOT TO MENTION MY MAKEUP AND HAIR CAME OUT FANTASTIC!

Fiona did my engagement photoshoot hair and makeup as well as my wedding hair and makeup. She did two different looks for these two occasions and they were both very beautiful and very appropriate. For my wedding hair, I actually had a slightly different vision from the trial but I couldn’t exactly communicate it to Fiona. So I said okay do what you did for the trial with the side bun, but make it wavier and more romantic and less clean looking. I thought that might’ve been sort of vague but Fiona totally took that and executed beyond my expectations. It turned out looking way better than I imagined. Her makeup work is also extremely detailed and lasted the whole night even after all the dancing and jumping I did, which was a lot because I changed into a short dress and flats right after the ceremony.
She also did makeup for my maid of honor and mother and they both looked great. Everyone at the wedding told me I looked beautiful, which I know is generally pretty mandatory but even my mom, who is the most critical and honest person I know, agreed so I’d say Fiona passed the test!

Fiona did a beautiful job on my makeup for my wedding last year. She was so pleasant and easy to work with. She answered all my emails and questions promptly. She was able to coordinate my make-​up trial on the same day as my engagement shoot which was really nice. I changed my mind on the hairstyle I chose for the trial, and she was able to accomodate that last minute! My main concern was that I wanted a natural look and my then fiancé was afraid that I would look like a whole different person, but Fiona gave me a beautiful natural look and my fiancé recognized me and was happy. My makeup lasted the whole day and I didn’t even need to touch it up. It looked great in the wedding photos as well. Thanks Fiona!!!

Fiona is absolutely amazing! I don’t usually write Unilocal reviews, but i just had to praise her and the beautiful work she does. Fiona did my make-​up for my engagement shoot last weekend. The whole experience of taking professional photos and getting hair and make-​up done is always a bit nerve-​racking for me as I am a casually girl who doesn’t ever wear any make-​up at all. And, the times when I’ve had make-​up done (weddings etc) have always left me a little disappointed. However, everything about my experience with Fiona was awesome and I am so thankful I went to her. She is such an easy person to work with, and made me feel so relaxed — like I was hanging out with a good friend. I loved the room where she does her magic — very cozy, comfortable and the lighting is great.
I highly recommend Fiona to anyone wanting a fantastic hair/​make-​up session. She is super!

I asked Fiona to do my hair and makeup for my engagement photo shoot and was extremely pleased with the result.
My experience working with Fiona was memorable for all the right reasons. Before our session, she agreed to meet with me so we could discuss hair and makeup ideas. She even took time to look over images on my photographer’s website so she could tailor my makeup to fit the shoot.
When the day of my appointment with her arrived, I was nervous and apprehensive because of bad memories from the last time I had my makeup professionally done. The last time I had my makeup professionally done, the color of my foundation did not match the rest of my body, my eyebrows were drawn on super thick and too short, and the fake eye lashes that were applied looked like spiders. Fiona did not do any of this (thank god)! During the session, she talked me through what she was doing, what techniques and brushes she was using, and even offered useful makeup tips! When she started doing my hair, I wasn’t sure what direction she would take it (all I told her was that I was going to wear a headband and I wanted some volume behind the headband) and was blown away by the end result. Somehow, she was able to smooth out my hair AND curl it. I could never styled my hair the way she did it and I was so grateful she had the eye and skill to pull it off. As promised, Fiona finished my hair and makeup on time (during our consultation meeting, she quoted me 2 hours) and needless to say, I was incredibly pleased the result.
Overall, I’d describe my experience working with her as easy, fun, and stress-​free. Fiona is a true artist who will help you look and feel gorgeous for any occasion. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a makeup artist in the bay area.

After seeing my girlfriend hunched over the computer watching endless Youtube videos on how to contour, fade, blend, mask, and whatever else it is that girls do with their makeup, I realized that it was time to set her up with a real professional for a one-​on-​one makeup session. So, for her birthday present, I had arranged a full day of shopping and lessons. Well, I just set up the time with Fiona and she took care of the rest!
The process all started with a phone conversation between the gf and Fiona so she could get a better understanding of what it was my gf wanted to achieve and to set a time and date. After a few weeks, the girls met at a Starbuck’s in Burlingame to go over my gf’s current makeup collection. After that they headed over to Sephora where the girls shopped and finally headed over to Fiona’s place for a private one-​on-​one. I don’t know if the details since my involvement in the process was be dropping my girlfriend off and then picking her up afterwards, but what I DO know is that my girlfriend walked out learning a TON and had a great time doing it! You know what they say, happy (wife?), happy life!
Throughout the entire process, Fiona was very professional, but also had a warmth about herself that put you at ease and most importantly, the girl knew her stuff! Would highly recommend her! Great job Fiona!!!

Fiona is an awesome hair and makeup artist. She is located in the Burlingame area and I was so lucky to have her work on me for one of my past events. I had quite the headache looking for a hair /​makeup artist in the bay area. Everyone here charges your first born for the service, which I wasn’t expecting. I found Fiona though, and I was very pleased with her work! I wanted a very natural makeup look, not caked on, and a curled half-​updo, and I expressed concern with frizzyness. Fiona did a trial for me many months in advance, and since I loved the outcome I booked her. She arrived on time the day of, and brought 2 team members along with her since we had several girls booked for hair /​makeup. Everyone was pleased with their looks, and they lasted all night. I LOVED how my makeup looked in photos and she took her time on my hair to make sure every strand was perfectly positioned. She made me and my girls look stunning. She also gave me a touch up kit, but it didn’t include extra glue for eyelashes — bring your own. Oh, and she could have very well cancelled on me, but she didn’t… My wedding happened to fall on her birthday!
Pro Tips: I recommend splitting the price between everyone who plans to get hair /​makeup done, otherwise it’s rather expensive for just the bride. Travel costs extra over like 25 miles round trip, and Fiona charges for parking if there is valet or fees (I had our hotel void her parking so I wouldn’t be charged!)

Fiona helped me to do hair and make-​up for my City Hall ceremony. We scheduled the 10 minute ceremony following a wedding photoshoot in City Hall and another location in a day (busy day). Fiona was willing to have a super early appointment to help me meet my ceremony appointment. We started from 6am!
Normally I don’t like too much make-​up, because I’m so afraid to become a complete different person under the make-​up. BUT, for the photoshoot, I have to wear more make up than usual. Before Fiona, I also tried several artists in the area and not satisfied. Fiona is very good at catching my personality and design make-​up style to fit my personality. She also asked me who was my photographer, and she is very familiar with each photographer’s style. I have fantastic wedding photos at the end.
I also had a make-​up class with her recently with former bride discount. I brought all the make up products I bought but barely use to the class: P. She taught me how to better use the products on hands and make better daily makeup. She also wrote a list of products fit my needs for my future use.
If you want to be a pretty bride and be your true self at your wedding/​wedding photo, I strongly suggest Fiona!

The bride hired Fiona as her hair and makeup artist. As a bridesmaid, my hair and makeup was done by two of Fiona’s assistants– Jessie and Ellie. At first, I was skeptical about paying that much money. I mean, I don’t even have that much hair. They did a fabulous job though! The natural look required a lot of makeup including airbrushing. Hair and makeup took about 30 minutes each. It wasn’t a major transformation, but a better version of me– Helen 2.0. I’m not embarrassed to say that I took a lot of selfies afterwards!

Fiona is simply the BEST! She’s very talented, friendly, and kind.
