I have bought a few things, and even reco’d friends. We have all been really happy with our purchases. Prices are negotiable, and if you are out of state… no taxes! =)
I wish that they had longer store hours, but overall, it is very pleasant experience.

I would love to know what the «strange stories» are but I have shopped there quite a few times and my experience has been great. It’s family owned and they are VERY knowledgable about their items. They sell estate jewels and art. I don’t know anything about the art except that it’s always in my way but the jewelry is hit and miss. You can definitely find deals here if you keep visiting and check out what’s new. They are not stooty at all (especially compared to Topper’s down the street) and they are always willing to let you try stuff on without making you feel like you should buy it. They are also honest when something doesn’t look good on you. And with any family owned business, there is room for neg with the prices.
If you know what you’re looking for, keep visiting them and browse. Good antique jewelry is hard to find, even here but keep your eyes peeled. If you want REAL antique and amazing jewels, try Lang (
) in SF but you will pay through the nose, probably above retail. Buying estate (ie: used, because it’s not necessarily antique at 75 – 100 years or vintage) usually means you pay for gold weight and stone weight, not labor for two reasons. Labor has been paid for the first time around and also the vendor can buy in bulk in plastic bags from jewelry wholesalers or bank liquidations and pay only for gold weight and stone weight. Try to go there when Edna is there. She’s a hoot.
