History

Established in 1998.

In the summer of 1998, Shawn Ramirez was working for a landscape contractor when the owner decided to take an eight-week vacation to Alaska during the high season. Finding himself idle, Ramirez promptly sold his motorcycle to launch Suncrest Landscaping & Design. Part of the money went to purchase an old Chevy pickup to get around in, including a visit to a contractor who invited him to bid on a four-house subdivision landscaping project. He followed that by nabbing up a 75-house subdivision contract that propelled Suncrest to where it is today.

Shawn’s enthusiasm for his work is obvious when he talks about his career in landscaping. «Somebody told me that if you do something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life,» he says. «Sure, you occasionally have a bad day, but I tend to be a positive person and can move on.»

Ramirez gets a lot of satisfaction from taking a piece of ground and making it into a place where people can retreat to and enjoy.
