I have always had great service at a fair price from Top Performance with 4 vehicles over at least 6 years. Only once was the cost a little over what they estimated and my cars have never broke down under their care. The last two times I have had small issues with two different cars and they did not charge me for the diagnostic because they did not reoccur or show a code on the computer check. Bad gas was probably the reason for the last issue and the mechanic said to try different gas so I did and have not had a problem since!

My main beef with all shops. The price over the phone is never the price you pay. Went in for exhaust manifold issue and told them to quote me assuming there were two broken bolts as I knew this was the issue. When it came time to do the work, they charged me an extra half hour of labor to remove the bolts. Plus didn’t include the price of the hardware in the quote which I told them would need to be replaced. The overall price ended up somewhat reasonable and they were responsive and friendly but can’t give a good review if they don’t give me a quote when I specifically told them what to quote me on.

Not a fan. They quote you over the phone for prices, then it somehow ends being more, I just wanted a oil change! Kind of wish I still had my Mazda, just took it to Jiffy Lube, in and out.

I went in with a mailer coupon for an oil change, and that went well. However, I asked for estimates on other services including repairing an oil leak, which they promised to have for me by the time my oil change was finished. That didn’t happen, so they promised to call me the next day with the estimates, which also didn’t happen. So this place is fine for a quick oil change and more apt than Jiffy Lube, but I can’t depend on them as my one-​stop auto maintenance shop.

I am really surprised by the number of poor reviews on about Top Performance. I have taken several cars there for varying service over the past few years and never had a bad experience. They have always treated me with respect and their prices were very fair. I took our 2006 Grand Caravan in this week for what I thought was a bad power steering pump. They found a clog in the reservoir and saved me a lot of money by not changing the PS pump.

I’ve taken 2 cars here 5x now and I really don’t have any complaints at all. Prices seem reasonable, customer service has been great, and I have found their communication is good. I own a Subaru and Toyota both are 2002’s. I was very loyal to another company for over 15 years until I had 3 back-​to-​back issues with them.
So far, I’m happy.

Broke down in 100 degree heat not far from this shop. 2 employees and I walked over and got my car back to the shop. Shortly thereafter found my battery was dead and alternator was almost dead. They had the battery in stock and the alternator delivered to get me back on the road.
Nobody likes to break down, or have to pay for repairs. But it’s customer service like this that shows a companies true colors. These guys do a great job.

Back in February, my wife’s windshied wiper was not working. We had just moved nearby, and I took it in to have it looked at. As it turned out, the problem was that a set screw on the arm had come loose. As this was our first time there and we told them we had just moved across the street, I was surprised to get a $ 40 bill for what, by the mechanic’s own admission, was «fixed in 3 minutes, no problem». I thought it was odd that they would not take the opportunity to try and earn a permanent customer. Given I just drove in with a 1998 Expedition that had 240,000 miles on it, and there was a chance it would probably need work from time to time.
Thinking that was just a fluke, last month we had a radiator leak and we had the vehicle towed to Top Performance. Since the leak in a fitting needed to be replaced, I asked them to perform a flush of the cooling system also. When I got the vehicle back, the coolant was still incredibly dirty. I called and asked if they just drained the radiator, or performed an actual flush of the system. After 4 or 5 tries, they finally admitted all they «could legally do in Vancouver» (which was totally false) was drain and fill the radiator.
I took the vehicle to another garage, and not only were they «legally allowed» to perform a complete flush, but they identified another small leak in the radiator, which I had fixed. My wife and 3 kids were leaving two weeks later to drive that vehicle to Indio (near Palm Springs). If the radiator had gone out, my family would have been on the side of the road in the middle of the desert.
Never going back there again.

We had an oil & filter service on our Hyundai. When we went to pick up the car we were told that there was a minor oil leak. It didn’t leak before we took it in, it leaked when we brought it home, it didn’t leak after the new filter was installed. They inferred that it was something is leaking from the engine. They already told us they didn’t know where the leak was coming from so we did not think they could do anything about it. Otherwise they would have fixed. We took it to Hyundai because our warranty is still in force to have the oil leak repaired. It turned out to be the oil filter just installed. When we talked to Top Performance they said they would do nothing because we should have brought it back to them first. What good that would do is beyond me. They said it sounds like Hyundai thought only Hyundai oil filters would work. Sounds like the good old auto repair game to me; it is always someone else fault. If you take your car here for service get anything they say in writing. As far as I am concerned they will not get a chance to fool me again.

My husband and I bought a 2000 Volvo xc70 for my disabled Veteran son, we had originally taken it to our mechanic where he was unsure of a possible Turbo issue that he was not able to take care of.
We searched Angie’s list for a great Volvo mechanic and found one in Camas called «Independent Volvo». It had great reviews and seemed to be a small shop, which is what we were looking for (low overhead)
My husband called the phone number and a man answered by saying «top performance», my husband was confused and asked him if this was Independent Auto and the man stated «yes that’s us», so he made an appointment to drop off the car on a Sunday and left instructions to do a diagnostic on the car and outlined our concerns.
Now when we pulled up to this place I was shocked at how big this place was and how fancy it was, by the impression I got from reading reviews on Independent Volvo AND the large name of Top Performance on the building I was confused, so I asked my husband if this was the right place, and he told me what the guy on the phone said, so we left the car.
On Tuesday we got a call regarding what they «found» with the car and they asked my husband about checking the power door systems (not knowing they were charging us for now two different diagnostic charges instead of one) so my husband thinks they are just going to visually and manually check this out, not charge another fee, I mean really do you need a diagnostic to figure out one door switch doesn’t work? Well I guess they did.
They sent over a fax of «all that was wrong with the car» to repair the cost WOULD have been as follows:
Parts: 956.95
Labor: 1834.15
Tax: 235.08
Now living in Oregon we had no idea they tax on repairs in Washington, no one told us nor does there web site state this for Oregon customers, I guess we are supposed to know this!
A total cost of:
3,026.18 WOW!!!
We told them we are picking up our car.
But before we got our car I did some research on this shop and what I found was this:
The original shop we thought we were taken to has a different phone number than Top Performance does so when you phone Independent Auto Top Performance answers the phone, I found this confusing SO,
When I picked up the car I asked the guy (whatever his name was) that was taking my payment I said «When my husband made this appointment he called Independent Auto which has a totally separate number than your shop and your shop answered the phone, why is that? Well he said «that’s us» and I told him «no it’s not» so then he replied «well the other place’s owner retired and he sold us his client list» and then I added «Oh and phone number as well huh?».
I told him why we came there thinking that the other shop and mechanic was the one we were going to and you led us to believe that this was the same place. Why did you do that?
Then he became snotty «well if you didn’t know you weren’t at the same shop then you’re stupid» UNREAL!
This is/​was a bait and switch shell game. The other number is still listed everywhere under the other business, a business that is now NO MORE/​CLOSED.
This is a scam and I am reporting them to the Attorney General’s office let them deal with this and the BBB.
Beware of this kind of «customer service» Oh and by the way we brought it to another Volvo shop in Portland and the cost to fix the car?

After an initial bad experience, we received a call from Ken who talked me down and asked us to give them another try. If Ken is indicative of their customer service we will be finished another shot.

I recently had my timing belt replaced here.
The price was good, timeliness of the repair was good.
When I dump a chunk of change ANYWHERE I expect a friendly hello and a thank you. I didn’t get either. There are other shops around that I could go to, this one was convenient for drop off and pick up.
I may give it another try as needed. Time will tell. I would recommend this place but be aware it’s not the friendliest place.

I just had some work done on my car today from this company and I can tell you that they may provide the work, but if you are looking for a quick check out, you can forget it! I stood in their office for ten minutes after being told that the paperwork was almost done. Now, five guys are all standing around a computer looking at an expensive car and completely ignoring me until I asked that they find out what is going on. Unsatisfactory customer service!

This is the first time I went here for an oil change and was very pleased with the service and price. Previously had been going to Ron’s but I was pleasantly surprised that Top Performance didn’t try to sell me services I didn’t really need. Good guys to deal with. Quoted fair prices for some service I know I will need soon. Will bring our 2^nd car here as well.

I took my car here to get an oil change. The next day I noticed a good size puddle of oil underneath my car. I checked the bolt on the oil pan and it was loose, not tight at all. This could of caused serious damage if I hadn’t of noticed the oil leaking.
When I called several times to get an answer and to speak with the owner I was treated very poorly by the employees with them just shrugging it off and offering no compensation or apology.
Avoid this place at all costs.

Do Not Take Your Vehicle Here!
Took our vehicle in to get a new radiator. Bad experience with both the manager/​owner? (big tattooed guy) and service. Called us when they first took in the vehicle to tell us there was a problem, went all the way back and the guy said that the gaskets were going to blow and that it would be pointless to put in the new radiator and that we ought to junk our, 1 year new to us, vehicle. What?!
They wanted to know what we wanted to do, and after our being very worried about the whole situation, we decided to go ahead and have the radiator done because we had no other option, we only have the one vehicle. So this guy said that if we had the work done the work would have absolutely NO Warrenty. We said fine, I mean, what else are we going to say?! So they said that they’d call us when it was ready cause I was going to have to be going to work, and after many hours we finally called them and it turns out it had been done for awhile and we were waiting for no reason. They couldn’t even call us to let us know. When we got back he handed over the key and said his mechanic did not test drive it because it was too «dangerous» and could «blow up at any time». The whole time the guy was kind of talking down to us and finally basically ‘dismissed’ us.
We were feeling so bad about the situation so decided to take the vehicle to our old mechanic for them to do an ACTUAL test of the head gaskets and it turns out that there is NOTHING wrong with it.
Top Performance Auto needs to change their name. They are FLUNKIES.
They are lacking respect for their customers. They just wheel them in and wheel them out.

My Nissan Xterra has started perfectly every time since I bought it 2 years ago. I have gotten my oil changed every 3,000 miles at Oil Can Henry’s; although, this last time since I had never rotated the tires I figured that might be a good idea.
Oil Can Henry’s doesn’t offer tire rotations so I found a coupon for Top Performance. As soon as got my car back last week, I brought it home, and now it doesn’t want to start. Figured it had to be the battery, changed that, still no luck.
Have yet to figure out what is wrong, but think it is pretty weird the day I get my oil changed, somewhere different than normal, and have never had an issue with my ca thus far, now I have issues to deal with.
It looks like another reviewer had a similar issue to mine after leaving from an oil change and having problems. Very upsetting.

The people who work here are nice. The shop offers good prices, but I have had bad experiences. First went in for an oil change, afterwards I’m driving home and my car starts overheating! WTF?! They did not screw on the radiator cap completely! Second time went in for steeling problems and the next day the brakes don’t work! They put steering fluid in where the brake fluid goes! Seriously! I don’t think I will be ever going back. Hopefully they can fix my brakes!
