‘just had yet another great appointment there yesterday and realized I’ve never written them up on Unilocal!Well, it’s time to fix that as this is a delightful place to take your children for their dental care. The staff is friendly and professional; the office is clean and spacious, ‘feels very modern and intelligently designed to best meet the needs of children while still providing quality dental care. I’m very pleased to take both my children here and have zero plans to ever take them elsewhere.

A very professional and friendly staff. We love the family and children kind environment; my children feel at home when they go for their visit. Since young age, they never felt scare or afraid to go to the dentist, because at Dr. B’s office, the most important thing they do, is make our children comfortable and scare less. Very affordable, clean and organized. Definitely recommended.

Called to setup an appointment for my daughter. The receptionist was very rude! She didn’t even seem interested in giving me information. After reading the reviews I was looking forward to bringing my daughter here but I guess I will keep looking. A little tip to this office, you might want to retrain your receptionist she is the first impression of your office.

I’ve been seeing Dr Barrera since I was a child and now have the pleasure of taking my 1 year old daughter to him for check up. He’s such a pleasant, patient Dr and staff has followed him to his new location and have been with him for 20+ years. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

During our first visit, we discovered our 3 ½ year old required emergent surgery. Obviously, we were shocked, nervous and scared. Dr. Barrera and staff worked with us to complete the required forms and set our appointment two days later. Before, during and after the surgery, Dr. Barrera and anesthesiologist Dr. Patel explained the process and procedures. They were very comforting and assuring. For many years he has taken very good care of my kids dental health. He is friendly and professional as well as his staff.

This is a wonderful place! I took my four year old for his first ever dental appointment and as soon as we stepped in the door I knew I had chosen wisely. The staff were so kind and courteous and so patient with my son. The offices are so colorful and child friendly and my son enjoyed every minute if it. Every care and consideration was taken with him and he left the offices laughing with a bundle of goodies given to him by the staff! Dr B was so gentle and explained everything perfectly. If I could rate Dr B, all staff and the offices with a 10, I would! Thank you so much.

I love doctor B! My son has been going to him since he was 3 and he is almost 13! The office is beautiful and welcoming! Dr. B is caring and gentle. He is not pushy and only wants what’s best for your child. The quality of work and care are outstanding. I recommend going once for a test drive!

I have been taking my boys to Dr. Barrera since he was on Moorpark. They love him and the staff. I ask all the time when they are going back for another check up. I looked for a pediodontist to ensure my children did not have a bad experience. I am so happy I did. We drive from Morgan Hill to Campbell and I think its worth it!

I am shocked that anyone would give Dr. B and his office anything less than 5 stars!
I have been bringing my, now 13 year old, twins to Dr. B since they were 3. Our very first visit solidified a place in my heart for him.
My daughter was 3 at the time and was a very anxious child when it came to anything out of the ordinary. She was NOT doing well with the X-​rays and was, in fact, crying pretty loudly. Dr. B came in and told the tech to stop because the X-​rays were not important but her feeling safe was.
We then moved on to cleaning. Again she started to freak out and wouldn’t let the hygienist near her. Dr. B– who has a fabulous accent– put a hand puppet on and got her laughing so hard she was comforted and more than happy to have her teeth cleaned, by him, after that. The drawback was that she wouldn’t let anyone but him clean her teeth until she was about 6 and he asked her if she trusted him enough to find someone good to clean her teeth Because she adores him she said yes and it’s been fine ever since.
We have moved on to orthodontia now but I honestly won’t do anything major in regard to their teeth without calling him first. He has always been available for my calls and has given excellent advise always. I will be heartbroken when my kids age out of Dr. B’s practice because he is the BEST.
As a side note, my kids are 13 now and have never had a cavity :)

Dr. B is the best pediatric dentist we have meet. He is very gentle and super patient. We did wait long before they got called to the back. My girls love coming to his practice because everyone is so nice. The office is beautiful and feels like home.

Dr Barrera… amazing doctor. Both my kids…3 n 8 yrs old love to go to Dr Barrera and are more than comfortable in his chair. The staff is very nice and makes kids feel nice and relaxed. Dr Barrera is a great doctor.

What an amazing practice! I took my nine-​year-​old son and six-​year-​old daughter here for a routine cleaning and check-​up today. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The atmosphere in the office was soothing and the tvs in the ceilings are a fun distraction for my kids. Each and every person on the staff really cares. I wish that I could give them more stars!

This incident happened 5 or 6 years ago, but I will always be grateful to Dr. Barrera. My son was punched in the face and one of his permanent teeth was loose and ready to come out. It was Friday evening and Monday was a holiday. I couldn’t get a hold of my son’s dentist, but Dr. B was on-​call that evening. He drove to San Jose from Dublin in traffic; I think it took almost 2 hours. My son is in college now and that tooth is perfect. Dr. B is a master at his trade. Thank you Dr. B.

My experience is similar to others who gave this dentist one star. Dr. Barrera is unethical (yes), unprofessional (yes) and puts his own sense of worth ahead of his patients’ feelings (yep).
We were fully upfront with him about our current dentist. After deciding to have our current dentist do an important surgery and canceling our surgical appointment with more than 24 hours notice (as much as we could give because Dr. Barrera was closed for a holiday weekend), he sent us a nasty, insulting letter, accusing us of taking our child’s dental care lightly and expelling us from his practice.
While Dr. Barrera’s office is high-​tech and superficially friendly, the act is only skin deep. His «either you’re with me or you’re against me» mentality shows that he lacks real integrity.
Still, I can understand the people who have positive experiences with Dr. Barrera. If your child only needs the occasional exam and x-​rays and no serious dental work or you are the kind of trusting person who will follow Dr. Berrera’s advice unquestioningly, then he’s probably ok. Almost any dentist can do exams and cleanings and the occasional filling, even Dr. Barrera.
I should also point out that he uses nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and, if that doesn’t work, anesthesia for children. If you do not agree with those methods, do not use this dentist! He will expel you to punish you so, if can’t agree to leave everything up to him, don’t get started with him.
And, if Dr. Barrera is reading this, you really should understand that it isn’t all about you. Seeing another dentist is NOT a personal betrayal. Asking detailed questions is NOT an insult. And nasty letters are NOT professional; you don’t need to get in your jabs and insults when a child’s parents are genuinely trying to be upfront and do the right thing for a serious surgery for their child. We’re trying to the right thing for our kids; we aren’t trying to offend and insult you. It isn’t about you.
EDIT: It’s been about two years and my son has tried two additional dentists. I’ve upgraded Dr. Barrera from 1 star to 2 stars: he’s still below average but not 1 star horrible. All the other kid dentists have TVs; some have kid friendly themes similar to Dr. Barrera. The other kid dentists have their flaws, too, but I still find Dr. Barrera to have flaws that are a bit more pronounced and weird than average.

Dr. Barrera is OVER PRICED! ~ I wanted my daughter to have the experience of a pediatrician and all the kid themed goodies. I think that is what we are paying for. I was talked into paying $ 2000 to fill some cavities and molar sealants. And two teeth that should have been pulled he said it would be best to root canal and cap. I was so stupid to do this for my 8 year old. Everyone told me just have them pulled they are baby teeth and he just kept telling me it would be better to leave the spaces open for the big teeth to come in. I paid the most money for those two teeth.
Literally a few months later one of the teeth he root canaled and caped had an abcess because the big tooth was trying to come down and couldn’t. The pain my child in was horrible. Heart wrenching the crying she was. That tooth had to be pulled. That $ 500 tooth was pulled. WHAT A WASTE of MONEY!
And now the other tooth the big one is coming in and can’t push through. Transferred her to my dentist. No more Dr. Barrera. He may be a nice guy but he won’t talk about payment with you. He just refers you to the office staff. He has no problem talking about why you should spend money that is not needed. But he won’t talk about how you are going to pay for it.
Most insurance doesn’t pay much for specialty dentists. Check out the pricing and what your insurance will pay before agreeing to any procedures. He is OVERPRICED. Her cleaning was $ 200.00 out of pocket? A cleaning for me at my dentist was covered by insurance. CRAZY.

Dr. B is a wonderful pediatric dentist! He has a very friendly, calm manner and he’s very, very gentle. My boys have had a lot of dental work done and his work is excellent! In fact we found Dr. B when he was in group practice and our original dentist was not available. What a difference in quality and personality! We switched immediately even though it was a bit awkward. We have never regretted it!
Dr. B’s staff is also very friendly and caring. The atmosphere is very relaxed and bright and cheery, great for the kids and adults. Recently we have had some financial hardships and lost our dental insurance and Dr. B has really been helpful with treatment plan and payment options so that my boys still got proper treatment. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. B and his staff! Just go there and try him out!

Most of us think He should close his pratice as well.
Dont take the risk here, You will regret it !

We went to Dr Barrera for about 3 years, and then his office moved, so we chose a closer dentist. My kids still miss the TVs in the ceiling at his office — and I still miss the warmth and efficiency of his office staff. Plus, Dr B is great — thoroughly professional, skillful, and always takes the time to explain things. Recommend him highly!

I have been going to Dr. B since I can remember. I’m now 24 and still going to a pediatric dentist. I will probably continue going to him until they tell me not to come back because I’m too old. He is very friendly and his staff are great. The receptionist remembers my family each time we walk through the door.
They have the TVs in the ceiling with headphones for each separate chair. They have numerous flavors of different toothpastes and fluoride.
He never pushes for you to get dental work done unless it is really needed. He’s filled my cavities without any incident.
