Alexander & Sons did a great job on our front yard pavers. From the start, Paul Sarkis was very easy to work with, prompt, and transparent in his pricing and approach. He had a good sized crew that worked cohesively and efficiently, and he would walk us through all the framing to ensure my wife and I would be happy with the outcome. We couldn’t have asked for a better company to do our project and I highly recommend Alexander & Sons.

Alexander and Sons recently completed a major project for us. It was a pleasure working with Paul Sarkis and his crew.
We had them demo our front and back yards and install new sprinkler systems and small lawns. In the front, they also installed beautiful bluestone pavers over our large front aggregate patio — with stacked stone veneer around the planters. They also replaced our old driveway and front walk with new concrete ones — edged with bluestone tiles to match the new patio. The result is gorgeous. We have received so many compliments from our neighbors!
We are extremely pleased with our completed project and cannot say enough good things about Alexander and Sons. Paul Sarkis, the owner, was so easy to work with. He was professional, knowledgeable, full of good ideas, and offered competitive prices. His workers were at our home for over a month and were always polite, punctual, and conscientious. We replaced plants in our front and back yard and added some lighting. Paul and his team were great to work with through the whole process. I would recommend them to any of my friends.

$ 45 just for to come by and do an estimate for a simple job deserves a one star review. Within the past 12 months I’ve had one general, two HVAC, two plumbers, one electrician, three roofers, three fencers, one exterminator, four flooring come by to give estimates, and nobody charges. I don’t even live far away from this business. I understand that people’s time is valuable, but cost of doing and getting new business should not be on the customer, whose time is also valuable.

I selected Alexander and Sons to do my patio cover because of all the positive reviews on
. On closer inspection of all the positive reviews they were on laying concrete and not building arbors.
Paul (the owner) is a top notch guy that tries to do right by the customer, however I wish his work crew had the same skill set as Paul.
Overall I was pleased by the design and the structure they built, but I ran into a few problems listed below:
* The paint job on the arbor was poor, even bad. After they finished I went back and repainted the entire arbor because they missed too many spots and the paint on the treated posts was very poor. They did not take the time to paint in the pores of the wood so it looked spotty — you could still see the treated wood.
* When I repainted the arbor I found that they left all the staples in the wood and painted over them. I had to go back in and remove all the staples and paint over them.
* The workers had no clue how to work the chop saw to cut 45 degree angles for the footing and some of the cuts were not exactly straight.
* Some of the wood used was visibly horrible. It looked like someone used wood putty to fill in cracks and some of the lumber was chewed up. If I had not complained to Paul, the worst of the wood would have ended up in the arbor, but Paul managed to replace two of the worst pieces. Some made it into the arbor.
I already had an idea how I wanted the arbor, but Paul made my idea better with his suggestions. I’m glad I took his advice, even though it cost me more.
The brick work where the posts were placed into the ground was OUTSTANDING. You could not tell where the old brick work was and where the replacement bricks were placed.
Alexander and Sons was not the lowest nor the highest price, but rather on the higher end compared to the competition.
August 31, 2015:
Two years later… some of the wood has begun to show signs of splitting. Bottom line: Poor, poor quality lumber used (the worst) and poor craftsmanship.
If I had to do it over again, I would definitely not use Alexander and Sons and I would NOT recommend them — at least on on arbors.

Alexander and Sons just completed our driveway — Great job! It is brushed concrete with cobblestone pavers and looks awesome next to the house. We got a few bids and Paul S. was the most reasonable, and fair priced. He explained our options, told us everything what to expect; timetable, care etc. His workers were respectful and efficient, Thanks Manuel.

We replaced our Front, Back Yard, and walkways, and I cant say enough good things about Paul and his crew. I had worked with two separate contractors before Alexander and Sons, with little satisfaction, even firing one of them, and deciding not to use the second due to poor and incomplete work, I looked around again, saw Alexander and Sons and gave them a call. Paul came as scheduled, knew business and contracts, was willing to work with me and all of the things I had in progress, and he also contributed his own ideas (pretty artistic and creative guy!). Their quote was reasonable and covered more scope for the same amount than the other two, so it was a better value from a cost perspective. Then their crews showed up, as scheduled, and like an army, just totally transformed the front and back yards, along with the walkways. Everything was done as they planned, done very well, exacting, and with an eye towards the aesthetics that we were trying to achieve.
The results far exceeded what we had hoped for! Everyone of their team was a pleasure to work with, and are all craftsmen in their own right.
Another point, they use real equipment as well, not just shovels and picks. When the landscapers tell you it is easier and cheaper to do it by hand, that is short for ‘we don’t have heavy tools’ and the results will speak for themselves. These guys have the tools, the skills, and the sense of design to make your yard the best in the neighborhood.

They charge $ 45 to get an estimate. They would not provide average per square foot pricing over the phone, so I don’t know if their pricing was even in the ballpark. I did bother to get a quote.

We had Alexander and Sons extend our backyard patio area, and it turned out great! We had existing stamped, colored concrete, but it was 15 years old. Since it was quite faded, it would have been difficult to match so we decided to tear out most of the existing and replace it with new. We did have to leave existing concrete on either end, that needed to be tied in to the new. Due to the pieces that were left in place, decisions about how the patio was to be banked were a challenge. After several brainstorming sessions, we came to a compromise proposal that looks really great now that it is done.
Paul’s crew was very easy to work with, cleaned up every day and were very efficient. it is clear that they know their jobs very well as the end product is outstanding.

I used this company to redo my front yard into a more drought-​tolerant yard. Paul and his team were wonderful to work with. Paul was always on time, the estimate was well explained, and the work was completed quite quickly. Paul had a good eye for what would work well with my front yard. Overall, very, very happy with the results!

We used Alexander and son to create a stamped concrete patio in our backyard. They did a fabulous job and were very professional. Paul (the owner) is very knowledgable and easy to work with. They gave a detailed fair quote and the timeline and budget did not change as the job progressed — can’t beat that!

We hired Alexander and Sons to replace our very large and crumbling concrete driveway. We are very pleased with how the driveway came out and the performance of the crew. Paul came out each day and expected the work and gave us updates on what to expect next. The crew that did the job were amazing. Alexander and Sons replaced our old crumbling asphalt driveway with exposed aggregate concrete and brick trim. The results look great and really add to the appearance of our home.
The crew always showed up when expected and on time. Paul reviewed the work with us as it progressed, and made sure we were completely satisfied with everything. The crew were polite, considerate, and always willing to answer questions or show us what they were working on. They are clearly proud of what they do.

We hired Alexander & Sons to transform our front courtyard. Overall, we couldn’t be more pleased with the process and the outcome. From day one, Paul was very easy to work with and understood what we were trying to accomplish. Every day throughout the project he spent a lot of time supervising his crew and inspecting their progress.
The end result is a gorgeous courtyard, which includes a slate tile sidewalk, crushed granite patio area, plus new concrete along our driveway and a replaced portion of our front sidewalk. They also replaced our sprinkler valves and ran underground drainage pipes towards the street.
I highly recommend Alexander & Sons, especially for projects where craftsmanship and style matter!

Paul was great to work with. We had some initial issues with our stamped concrete. We had some cracking and color issues but Paul was willing to come back and fix them. The backyard looks great and Paul clearly warranties his work.

Paul and crew did a good job of installing a new driveway and front walkway bordered with brick at a property I manage in Saratoga. His estimate was neither the least or most, but he had several references in the area and was a businessman rather than a handshake contractor. The crew cut through the main water line that was installed higher in the ground than it should have been so not their fault, but he estimated 2X the cost to replace it properly than a plumber charged, so watch adding things on to your contract! Paul was efficient, checked the work repeatedly and was usually available by phone. I think he was professional, thorough and honest and would recommend him with the following comments: there is no «wiggle room» in his estimates even when adding on more work, and he can talk down to you a bit when you ask questions. My wife and I hired Alexander and Sons to build us our dream backyard in our new home. Paul came out to look at our yard of dirt and worked with us to come up with a backyard design that includes a stamped concrete patio and walkways on both sides of the house, grass with sprinklers, drippers, and we even had them extend the width of our driveway by a few feet on each side. We also upgraded our drainage to hard pvc since the solution that the builder included with our home seemed like it was just enough to pass inspection but iffy for a long term solution. He even facilitated planting a few trees for us as well as some plants and my wife and I purchased on our own.
The price came out similar to what other contractors quoted us but we decided to go with Alexander and sons because Paul just seemed tuned into what we wanted and exuded a confidence that we didn’t get from the others. He also had some great ideas that we previously hadn’t even thought of that ended up making all the difference with the end result. His crew was fantastic and they were all business. From the moment they got there in the morning until the end of the day, they were all about getting the job done. Paul was there every step of the way keeping me updated and informed and making himself available anytime for questions. The communication is really greater than I expected from a contractor as he is extremely responsive via phone or email. I have received a ton of compliments on the work they did and I would definitely hire them again without question.
