Smog Doctor

I have had several vehicles smogged here and have found the staff friendly, courteous and helpful.

Love this place. I always get all of my cars smog done here. They are always quick an reasonably priced

The good: I have an older car that some smog stations think has a check engine light (MIL) when in reality, it doesn’t, so it’s been a hassle sometimes. Before we get started I ask the guy, he looks in the book, and says no MIL. The price is average, so I agree to do it. It eventually passes and that’s one thing off my to-​do list.
The bad: After hearing the car start and run on the dyno a few times, I peek my head out and ask how it’s going. He says that he can’t find get a good spot on one of the spark plug leads to connect the RPM sensor, and he’s fiddling with a plastic loom that looks a bit out of place. After the smog check, I open the hood to make sure everything is OK, and I see that he’s basically broken my plastic loom. I call him out on it and he says that I can just push it into place in one spot when it cools down and tape up the other spot. Ummm, what? Then he starts complaining about how «f — –g BMWs» are pains to smog.
In the end, I didn’t push the issue because the wires (and the now broken loom that comes with them) are due to be replaced soon, so I can live with it for a couple months. It’s not that he broke it, it’s that he didn’t have the decency to come clean or even apologize.
I don’t see myself going back here. Too bad the 76 station on Lark Ave. doesn’t do older cars anymore.

I’m actually surprised that this place doesn’t have more stars! This is my second time here and I have to say I am very happy with my service. The customer service is always quick and friendly. No, wait and they are a STAR certified station. If you want a no hassle quick 15 – 20 minute smog cert go here!

Got smog check, very friendly and quick. The car failed at first place but they redo the test for free. I also asked for discount and they gave me 20 $ off.

Stay away from this Place. I had a smog check on one of the gas stations down the same street a year ago and was charged half this place charged at $ 79.95 excluding the certificate. What I failed to do is to call first and check other gas stations or smog stations on what they charge. Smog fees are unregulated so beware of unscrupulous charges like this place does.

QUOC NGUYEN is good guy. He is really nice. He knows what to do with your car. I highly recommend coming on SUNDAY with Him. Bring 1990 Civic passed smog very easily. Thank Quoc Nguyen

Let me start this review by saying I have my work emails tied to my phone so quite often I work on the go.
Okay so here is my tale of woes…
I get the fancy paper in the mail stating «Get your smog». Crap. Thanks DMV.
So I decide on my own I would take my car in and take care of it. I see this place… Smog doctor. Okay. They do smogs, I need a smog. Viola! Match made in «DMV makes me do this» heaven!
I pull up, walk in and the guy behinds the counter takes my information and keys. I sit in the lobby and decide to kill time on work emails.
Look up– clerk staring at me. Awkward but whatever.
Keep working, keeps staring. Hmmm
So a good 45 minutes pass. I’m feeling so awkward by now I am out of emails and now updating my social media pages.
Finally the clerk says to me, with a dirty look I may add, «you are on your phone a lot»
I simply respond, «yeah, never a dull moment at work».
He then shows me my keys. I get up and walk over.
You failed the smog test.
Say what?
Yep, he showed me the failed paperwork. I was in shock. My car had zero issues
Before this.
He then looks at me and then the paperwork, he asks «is this your cell number or home line?»
I say my cell– puzzling…
He then smiles and says «okay tell you what. I can help you get your car to pass. Ill call you tomorrow for lunch and we can make this problem go away.»
Are. You. Kidding. Me???
I was so surprised, I just said ok, how much? Paid. Left.
I drove down the street to another smog place. I told them what happened to me, the guy felt so bad for me. He ran the smog test and gave me a discount because I failed again.
Someone (*coughSmogDoctorcough*) unplugged my computer.
The guy told me at best to drive around a couple of days allowing the computer to reset and if they did unplug it on purposes, we would know. I came back 3 days later…,
Well, well, well. Magically I passed. My new spot was so disgusted with that guy they gave me some print outs on how to report to the BBB. I probably would have, if I wasn’t afraid this guy wouldn’t try to find me. He had my address, cell, email. Yeah no thanks.
Seriously– if you are that hard up for dates, it makes sense. Force someone to go out with you. Yes. Fabulous idea. Downright brilliant.
What a scam. I will never go back.
Oh– and for the curious reader he did call me, several times. Let that roll to voicemail.

These guys are great. And, so cool. One of my credit cards fell out of my purse and they kept if for me, looked up my tele and called me to let me know it was there. Very sweet. I got it back and all is good. I have had my car smogged here 2 times now. I highly recommend them.

Went in on Sat (9÷7÷2013), was told the machine might not be working, he tried, it wasn’t working, I had time til registration was due — he said they’d get the machine working on Monday, I asked if he’d call to let me know when … and he actually DID! Way to follow-​up! I’ve come here a few times in the past few years for smog check, don’t usually have to wait — and now with a bit of a discount and follow through, I’m a fan! Thanks again!!!

15 minutes and $ 27 out the door for an oil change. Perfect.

The owner tried to rip me off by charging $ 60 for smog check. I was keep asking this guy for the price of smog check and he refused to tell me the exact price and kept urging me to sign on the contract paper. There are many other cheaper and honest mechanics around this town. Don’t even try this place.

Been bringing my car here for a smog check for a number of years. Always got great service. Prices are on the higher side for a smog check but there is a $ 20.00 off coupon on the their website.

I don’t know how this place is for smog checks, but on the weekends they do hand car washes for $ 6+
I come here almost every other weeked for a wash because the wait is a lot shorter than official cash wash locations, the people are nice, it’s cheap, and they do a great job. For an extra $ 2 they will also vacuum the inside.
Their service is pretty quick, usually they have 2 – 3 guys washing the car and then 3 – 4 drying it. I definitely recommend this place to anybody in the area.

Got my car smog tested here. Service was good, but the smog test was pricey. I found another place in Campbell that was $ 20 cheaper for another car. Go elsewhere for a better deal.

There was noone there when I pulled in. I needed both an oil change and smog test. They had a limited type of oil and filters so they may not carry your type if your looking for an oil change. The smog and oil change only took about 20 minutes. Overall a good experience and I would recommend them.

Not a good experience :(Smog for 70.00 it a bit over priced. So my car didn’t pass smog check first time so I had to fix it and bring it back. So a few days after I show up and they told me that my car wouldn’t pass even it was fixed. So I toke it to another shop at it passed.
These people wouldn’t re-​test besides costumer service sucks.

I pulled up and was greeted at the drive (which is great for customer service). My vehicle had failed smog previously, so this was a re-​test. The place that did the smog originally told me that they would retest for free. However, when I went back they said that it was past 10 days and that they wouldn’t retest for free, but give me a discount. I was furious! nowhere on my paperwork did it state a time limit, nor did the shop have that posted! (and at 12 days I would think a returning customer of both smog AND gas might catch a break, but NO). So I left.
The smog tech. saw that I had failed the last test and he asked about it and if it was repaired. After hearing what happened, he said he would offer a discount. (they matched the price of the other place). So it was done and it passed! I was happy, of course and very thankful for the discount. I told them that I had gone to them for my other two cars in the past for at least 4 tests and that I would be back with them again! (I moved to San Francisco. But now I’m back…)

Okay, I was going to go to Pruneyard Shell but, No because they have rude customers who hit on my car and yelled at me. So I cam to the Smog Doctor in a huff.
I needed an oil change and my smog test for my registration and because he is getting business that would have gone to someone else I ask for an oil change.
30 minutes later I have my oil changed, my smog done and the plastic fender under my car fixed all for $ 97.30. Not bad considering its done with a smile.
Yes, $ 100 is a bit much but it is done. I have a new oil filter, new oil, got to yak all I want plus, I was only ten minutes away from Los Gatos DMV where I got my new tags and technically street legal.
Originally my «coupon» was for $ 23.95 plus $ 10 for test only plust $ 10 off any additional service (i.e. oil change).
My little red rocket only gets hit on by me and no yells at me. I come I get my smog for $ 59.95 my oil changed for $ 29.95 plus tax and I am happy as a clam…
Go early and every 3.000 miles.
