Sunzeri Construction

Make an appointment to meet today and no show, not even a call back. I called them and left a message that I’m at my place after I waited for 20 minutes. I have to rush to make sure I’m not late for the appointment yet another no show. If they don’t respect my time then they won’t have my business. I don’t know how they stay in business with this type of poor service. Good thing we have Unilocal to warn other people.
Sam did call back after I posted the above, 4 and ½ hour later to apologize.

Look no further. Seriously! We hired Ken to do an addition and extensive remodel of our house and it was the best decision we made. We were so nervous about hiring the right contractor after hearing so many of others nightmare experiences, plus we are (or I should say that I am) a high maintenance client. So we needed to find someone that could handle our demands. We interviewed more than several contractors before we met Ken. We were impressed with Ken’s referrals and quality of work. We signed our contract with him and in less than two days our project was underway with a full team. Not a day went by when there weren’t multiple people working at my house to get things done quickly and with quality. Ken was very flexible and always had a can-​do problem solving personality so he was able to manage our indecisive moments and was super accommodating. Ken and his team exceeded our expectations on all counts; quality work, honest, patient, creative, and he delivered on time and on budget.

Ken gave us the best bid. He was able to always keep our budget in mind while still trying to help up choose the products that fit our style. We completely remodeled the first floor of our home and it was done in a timely manner. The crew is easy going and flexible. We could not be happier with the results.

Best adjective to define Ken is his honesty. Ken renovated our 1900 circa bungalow office building. As with any project of this type we encountered design and engineering challenges that required flexibility and compromise. Ken was willing to work the hard issues without hesitation. His cost control was reassuring. When I had issues with employees and subcontractors he made proper and timely decisions. We continue to face closeout challenges with San Jose. Despite lengthy City delays, Ken is «owning» the issues to bring us toward closure.

We hired Sunzeri add three piers to our foundation and brace it. They gave a competitive bid and were on time and on schedule during the entire project. The communication and customer service was great. I plan to use them on all of my remodel projects.

I got introduced to this company by my friends. I want to do some heat insulation to my living room. Ken told me he would have his guys call me later, and that was in the morning. I waited until the late afternoon with no response, so I called Ken again. He made an appointment with me the next morning at 10 o’clock. I drove 20 miles to my new house the next day and waited there for one hour. Nobody came, nobody called. Instead, I called Ken several times with no response.
I drove to his company address and wish I could find them. When I arrived, a man there told me they had moved away two weeks ago and he didn’t know their new address. I felt disappointed and angry.
Finally, I was able to see Sam around 13:30 that afternoon in my house when they remembered me. Seems there were a lot of mis-​communications between them and my information wasn’t passed to Sam that morning. He looked around my living room and took some photos. He gave me some suggestions and promised to email me detailed proposals later that Friday. It was not bad to talk to Sam. If English is my native language, I would have better express my upset and discontent. Actually, I didn’t say much about it.
I can’t review their working quality currently, but I will add more comments later.
I didn’t receive any emails from them until now, which is 1 week later than scheduled date they promise to send me feedback. I decide not to call them any more.
I have to keep my initial review.

Canada may have Holmes on Homes, but luckily America has Sunzeri on… Homes as well? Nothing rhymes with Sunzeri. How about «Sunzeri on Houses Which Are Unweary»?
Kenny Sunzeri and his team are INCREDIBLE. I used a period instead of an exclamation point after that INCREDIBLE because it’s one of those serious, wide-​eyed incredibles… they are seriously incredible. Now I am a prittay, prittay lazy person, so I typically only give Unilocal reviews if I am either blown away or reeeally pissed off; these guys blew me away AND knocked my socks off. In a world where housing and construction contractors attend the same customer service training program as the idiots at Fry’s Electronics, Sunzeri is a godsend. They understand that «You don’t do things right once in a while… you do them right all the time,» and their quality of work reflects that.
Here is just one example of how they go above and beyond and out of their way to satisfy the client: I fell in love with white Carrera marble (white with gray swirls) and had to have it as a backsplash. Oh, I was so depressed when I found out that white Carrera marble is insanely expensive (I couldn’t find it online for less than $ 3,000 per slab at that time). I reeeally wanted this type of marble, so I asked Kenny to shoot the long shot and try and find some for less than $ 2,000/slab. He has good connections with suppliers (probably because he treats them right too), so he was able to talk one supplier down to $ 2,500. I broke down and said yes to $ 2,500, but I was already going way over my budget at $ 2,000. The next day, out of nowhere, he found a slab in some marble junkyard for $ 900 ($ 600 for the slab + $ 300 to cut it). Another contractor probably would have been too lazy to go Carrera hunting, or at least charged me more and pocketed the difference, but that’s just not how they operate at Sunzeri. That kind of integrity is rare in the construction industry.
As for the overall cost of a project, «the price is right, Bob»…or I guess now it’s «the price is right, Drew Carey.» I initially chose Kenny from several contractors for a kitchen remodel because he was the lowest bidder (yes I’m lazy AND cheap) and I got a really good vibe while talking with him. In retrospect, that was a risky move because he looked way too young to be a general contractor, but I’m so glad I went with my trusty gut instinct. In fact, Kenny was definitely young for a general contractor, but it turns out that he actually has a lot of experience because he finished school really early and started swinging a hammer when he was like 12, plus he clearly runs a very efficient business and he has the energy of a jackrabbit, so he’s gotten twice the experience of a normal person during his years in the construction business. Consider it a bonus that you get to look at a bright, young face instead of an old dude with a beer gut and butt crack hanging out.
I have used Sunzeri Construction for every project since I met Kenny several years ago, and I am more and more pleased with each project. I’ve used Sunzeri for large projects and small/​partial DIY projects and seen the same caliber of work no matter the paycheck. They are flexible on timing and resources, friendly, trustworthy, smart, and incredibly skilled. Kenny is a hands-​on, highly-​involved general contractor. The guys that work for Kenny are really skilled, and you can always trust Kenny to keep things running smoothly and at a good pace.

I am a busy realtor in silicon valley and I continue to lean on Sunzeri Construction to fulfill any of my clients needs. Whether its a light makeover, a kitchen remodel, or a completely new build out, I know the job will get done for a reasonable price and with great end results. Since i am in the housing industry, I have much higher expectations than the average customer and it takes a lot to satisfy my needs. I have no hesitation in referring this company. I even used the Sunzeri team for my own home remodel.

Ken is guy that can get things done and if issues arise and believe me they always do with remodeling, he will do what it takes to fix and make it right. I’d definetly use again in the future. I tool off a star becuase a 6 week project took 9 weeks but was not all caused by Ken as I made some changes. In the end it was complete with no issues
