David painted my maple kitchen cabinets and entertainment center white and my island espresso. He was knowledgeable and professional and offered great ideas. The cost was very reasonable. I absolutely love my kitchen — the paint makes it look brand new. It took a little longer than I expected — almost a week, but David works by himself and does not have a crew. David did a good job in covering everything and cleaning up although there was some clean up I had to do as well. Overall, fabulous job and I wouldn’t hesitate to use Enquist Painting for all of my future painting needs. Thank you, David!

Dave provided a fair price and completed the work as promised and on time so what more can you ask for? He showed up every morning at the same time ready to work.
Dave was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions during the project and made sure that all of our needs were met.

There are painters and there are artists. David is top notch and helped us to achieve our vision for an amazing «Hawks Nest» football themed hangout for our teen. He listened to what we wanted and made it come to fruition in a very expedite and professional manner. He arrived same day for an estimate and started two days later. Job finished in three days with no headaches. Thank you David. Our son is going to love his new digs.

David and his brother Bill are very nice people, and they have many years of combined experience in the painting industry. The reason for the single star, however, is because when we recently hired them to paint the interior of our home, they did a terrible job at preparing the house for the use of an airless sprayer and rollers. Every mirror, every sink, every countertop, some light switches, most light fixtures, and most door handles are now textured with overspray, or specked with roller fling. I was very careful to inspect the house before they painted, and there was no overspray; now, it’s everywhere. Very difficult to clean off, and it shouldn’t be the homeowners responsibility… It should be the responsibility of the painting crew.
There are many drips of the wall color on the baseboards, and there are several roller marks on the baseboards as well. They neglected to cut-​in around a handful of can lights as well as HVAC returns and bathroom fans, and the contrast is very noticeable. I asked them 3 times to patch holes in the ceiling before they painted… They got half of the holes but left the others. I asked them to prime a garage with B.I.N. Shellac-​Based Primer before they painted because the former homeowner smoked there. David said it didn’t need it. The smoke odor seeped right through the paint an hour after he painted it. He then told me he couldn’t be responsible for the smell not going away… Which, seems fair, but not when I asked for it to be painted with primer in the first place. Three family members and myself had to paint the garage with the primer after the fact and now the smell is gone.
After speaking with David once the job was complete, he admitted to me they were rushing through the job. Very unprofessional. If you’re willing to admit to the person who hired you that you rushed through the job they hired you to do, then you should reconsider your work ethic. David and Bill would start around 8 am, and be done by noon to 2 pm everyday, and they finished our 2400 square foot home plus a three car garage in three of these short days. David originally told me it would take 7 to 8 days, a far cry from their actual date of completion. The job was done too fast, and attention to detail was neglected. I’m not sure where all these 5-​star reviews are coming from considering my experience was so negative. I would urge anyone considering whole-​house painters to research many other painters before choosing Enquist painting. I wish my experience was different, but unfortunately it wasn’t.
David and Bill, this is not personal, but with everything above considered, I think you yourselves must admit that the job was done with little regard to detail and a quality product.

Bill and Dave were both professional and extremely accommodating. I called on a Thursday to get an estimate and they were at my house within hours to give me a price. We scheduled for a few days later and bill showed up right in time ready to complete the job that day. Dave joined later after another job, and they completed the interior of my entire home ahead of schedule. The price was a great value and the job was impeccable. I plan to recommend them to my landlord as he owns several properties. Thanks again Bill and Dave for an excellent job!

I chose Bill and David to paint my kitchen, bathroom and hallway cabinets based on a great price and added value. In addition to painting the cabinets, they installed the knobs and new hinges that I purchased. They also cut in my wall color and painted the ceiling so that I wouldn’t have to worry about messing up the cabinet paint.

I’m not the easiest client when it comes to color. David was very patient when I had to postpone my kitchen cabinet paint job for a day in order to decide on the paint color after changing my mind twice. He painted numerous sample boards for me, pointing out that I needed to view them in the light where the cabinets were since lighting makes a difference in how the color appears. Because of his suggestion, I changed and improved the lighting in the kitchen. David’s attitude is that what matters most is that the customer is happy and he’ll go out of his way to ensure that. He worked quickly and professionally and willingly came back to make a couple of small fixes as far as a change I wanted to make in the cabinet pulls. Highly recommended.

David asked for a $ 5,000 deposit before starting our job, even though state law limits it to a max of $ 1,000.
. We were not happy with his commitment to our project and asked for a partial refund after he worked just one of the six planned weeks. He originally offered a $ 1,700 refund and then flatly refused any refund. We also later discovered that his licenses are expired or suspended.
. There is a prior complaint that appears to involve similar issues.

Don’t even think about hiring this smooth-​talking shyster (disreputable con man).
Not licensed, not insured, will take your money and not do the job or will do it so badly that you’ll have to pay a real professional to re-​do it.

Made an appointment with David a few months back for him to come over and give me an estimate, but he never showed up and he never called me after he missed the appointment. He seemed nice when I talked to him on the phone, but I’m not going to hire someone who’s flaky.

Dave was awesome! he did most of our house and it turned out GREAT!!! Would highly recommend for paint/​flooring/​baseboards.

Dave did a great job bringing my old cabinets back to life (pics say Encinitas kitchen). He takes pride in his work and is reasonably priced. One of his best assets is his customer service. He always responds promptly and does whatever it takes to make sure you get what you are hoping for. And he won’t leave you hanging! Thanks again Dave!

David Enquist did great! He remodeled our kitchen and painted our entire house and staircase. It looks like a new house! He finished our project on time and listened to my request.

David and his crew just painted every square inch of the interior of my new home. We were on a tight 6 day schedule and David worked hard for 6 days straight to complete the job on time. He is a man of his word! Needless to say our house now looks amazing. The finish work and attention to detail was remarkable! He is even going to come back after the floors have been installed to touch up the baseboards (not something he has to do). I have had bad experiences with contractors in the past, but I trusted David from the minute I met him. He is honest, gives good suggestions, and truly cares about his clients and his projects. He also does not promise things he can’t deliver — he was completely honest about when he could start the project and up front about how long it would take.
Abe, the head of his painting crew was also fantastic. He and his brother worked all through the weekend and showed up every day at 7am ready to paint. Thank you David for the stunning transformation of my new home, it now looks brand new and so big. My husband and I will certainly be recommending him to other friends & family. I would give Enquist painting 10 stars if I could. David is professional, courteous, and left our house as clean as when he arrived.
P. S. — Not only did David’s crew do detailed job painting, they also did an excellent job refinishing our staircase from a honey color to a rich mahogany. It looks A-​MAZING!

Stunning transformation of our home! Dave’s highly professional and experienced team did it all — from painting to building a 1300 sq ft travertine tile patio, to an elegant firepit and a unique grand piano shaped arbor. This work was all done in an amazingly fast 5 weeks from start to finish. And this included demolition of an aging deck, great tile artistry, slick carpentry, plumbing, etc. Dave delivered on everything he promised and then some. We felt that this was truly a customized project without the price tag. Dave served as not only a great general contractor, but also a design consultant who help us visualize possibilities we couldn’t conceive.
We interviewed several contractors and feel very fortunate to have chosen Dave. We highly recommend Dave for any indoor or outdoor work you have in mind. His crew is courteous and professional — the best we have ever worked with. And Dave was always there to discuss the progress and next steps with us.

My parents purchased their retirement home in Oceanside, and wanted the downstairs half bathroom to be converted into a full bathroom. My father has poor knees and wouldn’t be able to make it up the stairs to the 4 bedrooms upstairs.
I found David Enquist on Unilocal,and was very pleased with the reviews so I gave him a call for a bid.
I spoke with David, as well as 6 other contractors. A little much, I suppose, but it’s in my nature to be diligent and find the best value for the price.
I choose David because he offered the best value for the price. His bid was not the lowest, and it was not the highest. However, his ideas were excellent. I was paying for his expertise and vision, and not just for manual labor.
His team was excellent to work with as well. Steve was especially great. He was courteous, professional, and cared about the product he was producing.
The final full bath/​suite looked great at the end. The colors and quality were excellent. I am very happy with his service. My family has many more projects that will need a contractor for. David will be on speed dial.

Needed fast turnaournd and a lot of detail work done to get a high end property ready for executive lease. David is the absolute best. With only a week to move into the house, he had it done in only 3 days (walls, ceilings and doors!). He walked us through every step of the process, giving us tips on which colors and what type of paint would go best for our house. The job was clean and tidy, despite our uneven ceilings. David is also affordable, considering the quality and time he put into our house, it was very well worth it. Although, he was tasked to paint our house, David offered to help us with other tips on making our house a home– he is enthusiastic about what he does and was willing to give us the helping hand we needed as first time home buyers.

David and his team did a great job with our house. His quote was reasonable. His team, including his sister, were friendly and thorough. David was on-​site a good amount of the job. I would definitely recommend him for any job.
