Navy Federal Credit Union

I paid off my car loan and never got a vehicle title. I called to ask them to send it and they claimed that they did so I had to work it out with the state of purchase. I now live out of that state so I’ve been working with 2 state DMV offices to get my title, they both say that Navy Fed should be getting the title for me. Now I have to take time off work to go aply in person. I will never get a Navy Fed car loan again.

This location NEVER has enough tellers. I was just standing in line for almost 15 min b/​c a girl working didn’t know what she was doing and asked another teller for help which took it down to 1 available teller. Idk about the managers at this place, but they need to make it clear that customers come BEFORE paperwork and training employees. You SUCK. Learn customer service please.

Love this Navy Fed! I have never once had to wait in line. The process is so easy!!!

Miguel helped us and from start to finish was excellent. He checked us in and walked us to his office. He was efficient and informative. You can tell he really cares about each member that he serves.
They saved us a lot of money on our loan and took all the hassle out of it.
After dealing with so many dealerships and terrible sales men it was so refreshing to get taken care of by Miguel.

I come in this branch often and have learned when is a good time and bad time for those lines! If you are flexible with your time frame you will be serviced right away. Whenever I had false transactions they were very quick to give me the money back which I appreciate as a customer. I am always greeted with How are you doing and How has your day been. I am usually in and out within 10 minutes or less depending on the line. I heart you NFCU Thank you for providing us military members with an excellent service!

How entitled do you have to feel to leave a rude review about a bank? The kind of person who writes a review about a McDonald’s or Starbucks writes a review about a bank. There’s a difference between leaving constructive criticism and a grown adult whining. I love this bank. I’ve used it for 2 years and every single teller has been respectful, helpful and friendly. Thank you miserable teller AVA for reminding me what a terrible place this is! I have made several transactions at various locations, but this one was the worst. I was treated in a rude manner by this miserable woman, no greeting, no pleasentries, nothing. Just attitude. Do not recommend.

Not a bad location, went on a weekday not to bad of lines. Would NOT recommend talking to them about loans!!! Im trying to buy a house and they really dont help you in navy fed itself… They help you fill out an application then everything is over the phone and email.

This location is ALWAYS busy… I know that going in.
Today, I had to go in to make a branch deposit and admit, I thought I would be in for a long wait, day after pay day and just before lunch. I planned to spend 30 minutes at minimum because the deposit required the Customer Services rep to contact my insurance agency. I was in front of said Customer Service rep in less than 5 minutes, and although the transaction did take about 30 minutes, the limited wait to see the rep was refreshing.
I have been a NFCU customer since 1986 and have always had very positive experiences.

love this bank! the wait if you have to go in the branch is tiresome. as many have mentioned. i like the ease of the app and locator you can get. to show you where the free ATMs and branches are close to your location. also. there is an ATM that accepts cash. the only one in oside that i know of. but it is there. makes things very simple for my busy life :) thank you navy fed!

Navy Fed is pretty awesome. Every time I go into this branch there is a wait, however the tellers are nice and friendly. I am annoyed with the fact that cash deposits don’t process immediately and that you need to fill out an envelope every time you want to make a deposit at the ATM. If they could fix their ATM to be more efficient they’d have 5 stars.

I love banking with Navy Fed, but having to go in to a branch is a different story. I am super glad NFCU offers mobile check deposits now because I don’t have hours to waste waiting in line. If you need to go to NFCU anytime around payday, forget about it! Understaffed and overworked, the tellers aren’t very friendly. The location in Oceanside at Avenida De La Plata is a little better. at least they’ll greet you and acknowledge your existence.

I’m a bit surprised by the low ratings. In all the years I’ve been using NFCU, 20 years now in fact, I’ve always had the best service. Yes, the lines are long some days but I can’t think of anything else negative to say about my experiences. The member services has always gone above & beyond to assist my needs, including helping me w/​a contentious issue w/​my credit card company. I love NFCU!

I think «meh» is about the right sentiment here. While I like Navy Federal as a whole, I have to agree with all the other reviews here in terms of this actual location. I have never come here and not experienced…

–Even longer waits
–Only 1 – 3 tellers working (and yes, inevitably one goes to lunch leaving only 2 tellers while there is still a huge line)
–Rude tellers who couldn’t look more annoyed with you for simply being there. I always say «hello» and smile and I have never had one even look up at me. Although in fairness it is probably from working such a long day and being so short staffed.
I just can’t give a place more than two stars when you DREAD the thought of having to actually go inside.

I dislike this bank so much I always wait the 20 minutes in the car that it takes my husband to go in and make a deposit.
The lines are ridiculous and the customer service is rank. I work at a bank and swear on my life if I treated the MY customers like that I would probably be fired. Must be nice to be a credit union and not worry about customer service… not!

NFCU is great idea … on paper. But the staff members here are are supremely rude and inconsiderate.
We wasted almost two hours one day at NFCU trying to open a simple IRA account. «Trying» being the operative term. But the incompetents at this NFCU branch did all they could to frustrate our efforts.
Also, while we were left waiting for an hour to see an account rep, we watched in amazement as some crabby old coot who works at NFCU — a retired 0 – 6 no doubt — came over and berated a nice family for letting their kid «run around making noise» — supposedly disturbing his delicate concentration. Now, I hate kids as much as anyone. But this kid was actually quite well behaved. I’d have told this asshole to bugger off. But these poor people were clearly old-​school Navy, and wouldn’t have said «shit» if they’d had a mouthful of it.
Anyhow … as much as I may hate the way too-​big-​to-​fail corporate banks have taken over our country, I’d still recommend the Wells Fargo Carlsbad Village branch (inside the Von’s Supermarket on El Camino Real at Hwy 78) over NFCU any day of the week.
Long story short, after finally giving up and closing our NFCU account, we went back to WF where the great staff set up our IRA in less than 15 minutes.

Like the first review this place can be very frustrating. I have been banking with Navy Fed for a long time. When this branch opened several years ago and I over joyed. But I have to say, that this branch pretty much sucks. If I go in during a peak time, say during lunch or after work, there are only a couple of tellers working. But if you go in between open and say 11, or 2 and 5, there is a teller at every window bored out of their minds.
I was actually in this bank the other day, and a sweet young girl maybe about 5 looked up at her dad and said, «daddy, after someone leaves they close the window.» Everyone got a chuckle out of this because the girl was dead on. It was 4 PM and only 2 tellers working.

I hate going into banks… If I could avoid going in and performing all my transactions via online or ATM, I really would.
Overall, I’d give this place a 3. I frequent this place only because it’s the closest branch to my office, and when I do go, it’s either early in the morning or during my lunch. Forget about going during (military) payday or before/​after holidays.
On this particular occasion, however, this place gets a 1.5. I’m upping ½ star only because the Nanay who helped me kept her cool as I conveyed my frustrations. It was day 2 that the ATMs were down, and I needed to make several important deposits. I had no choice but to wait in line.
There were several of us who attempted to use the ATMs unsuccessfully and we found ourselves waiting, and waiting and waiting… The line was almost out the door, and I was not happy.
Finally after about 30 mins, I reached the teller. Frustrated, I politely indicated that I had several deposits to make and that the ATM was not accepting deposits. Rather than process my transactions first and then follow up with the ATM issue, she got on the phone and contacted someone to relay my concern. Then she actually got up from her post and said that she would be right back. I was left there… Annoyed…
She came back several minutes later indicating that both the ATMs were working and that there was only 1 ATM that accepted deposits. Obviously, she wasn’t listening. I told her I understood that 1 ATM only accepted deposits, but what I was saying was that that ATM was NOT accepting the deposits. When I challenged her by asking if she actually attempted a deposit, she dodged the question. She went on to tell me that it was all computerized and that the system would indicate if there was an issue.
At this point, I really didn’t care to argue any further — I just wanted my transactions processed. The transactions took less then 5 mins and I was out the door. As I exited, I noticed that another customer attempted to make a deposit via the ATM, but was also unsuccessful.
