Nick and Steve and all of their mechanic’s at this place are TOP NOTCH! They do excellent work in a warm and friendly, family atmosphere. I never go elsewhere. They have worked on my mercedes, my corvette and my motor home and they are fantastic! When we were getting ready to go on our first trip in our motor home and there was a problem with it, they stayed late, past their usual closing time, to make sure we were on the road safely. Do all your vehicle business here with complete confidence.

What a nice shop! I felt welcome as soon as I walked in! The customer area is clean and friendly with treats and coffee. And decorated with care! They had my car in and out in good time and the repairs were very professional! Thank you so much!

In mid Jan 2016 I was in Carson City with my 1997 GMC Jimmy Truck. I had just pushed the button to go from 4WD to 2WD and the button broke and fell into the bottom of the back of the dash. I was now in 2WD but would soon need 4WD with no way to get there. I looked up the best auto shops in Carson City using Unilocal and PAC was on the top. I called and spoke to Nick Halen. After a few questions Nick said the part was in stock and he could fix it today. I asked for a quote and Nick gave me a reasonable bid. I accepted and drove to his shop. When I got there, Nick greeted me and one of his employees removed the bad part and had the truck ready for the new part. The new part arrived just as he finished and he put the new part in.
Nick said the labor was less than he estimated to make this fix so he took a large (35%) off his bill. Now I felt I got a great price for the fix!
I could not believe how fast the car was fixed!!! It’s still running fine.

My BF needed a transmission service done on his GMC and we’ve always had great honest service from Performance Auto in the past. He made an appointment and we took the truck down there at 8am. I drove the other car so we didn’t need a ride after dropping off the truck, but they’ll I hear, drop you off at work or wherever with in a reasonable distance and then even pick you up when the car is ready! How’s that for service from a none dealership. Shop rates here are less then the dealers for sure, around $ 85 per hr.
What I like is they don’t try to upsell you on all kinds of stuff you don’t really need. Fix instead of replace if possible, not like the dealer for sure. Nick is a great service writer and will explain everything to you and what the charges are. It seem most customers just bring them the vehicle and just pay whatever they say it costs… how’s that for trust. I mean, they’ll tell you about how much things will be and you can take that as an honest estimate. If anything comes up that will cost more or if they find trouble, they’ll call and get your permission before doing any more work that’ll cost you money.
In CA I think it’s some law that a car repair shop has to give you a written estimate as to exactly what the cost will be and you sign before you leave. Here in NV, I guess there’s no law like that and you don’t get a written exact estimate for the repairs … well, good thing they’re honest here and pretty much you can trust you don’t need a written estimate, like in CA.
Performance works on motorhomes a lot too, so if that’s what you have, you might be better off coming here, rather than the RV dealer in town. One thing about Performance, they don’t do much advertising, but they’re always booked out a few days, so you’ll need to make an appointment. There’s exceptions I think as they’ll work with you if you have an emergency and are from out of town or something. I highly recommend Performance for all your auto and light truck maintenance and repair needs. The GMC was serviced and now the tranny shifts like new!

Single woman, out of state, car breaks down on Wed the 30^th, almost NY eve at 3 in the afternoon. I called local Ford dealer and was advised they would not even LOOK at it until Monday. Tow truck arrives asking where I want to be towed and I am at a loss. He advises Performance. Little skeptical when we arrive as it is a back street and no fancy entrance. I did see a Napa sign out front, so figured it had to be ok. Nick immediately made me feel comfortable & put my mind at ease. He was able to locate the part and assured me they would have it the next morning. He also told me the next day was NY eve and they would be closing early, but I felt comfortable he would make every effort to have me back on the road. I was pretty much at their mercy being out of town on a Holiday. My car was done on time, reasonable rate, and I even got an oil change which turned out to be less than I normally pay anywhere else. VERY PLEASED with my experience here!

These guys were Great! Our RV broke down on the way home From Burning Man 2015 and all of the employees including the Owner (Steve), Son (Nick) & our mechanic (Dave) were very helpful. The initial thought was a bad transmission but it wound up being just a sensor. Performance Auto Care only repaired what was needed to get us back on the road at a reasonable cost. We liked these guys so much that they are doing some repairs/​modifications on our Burning Man Art Car (Fire Breathing Dragon) for next year! This is the best mechanic shop as far as honesty and friendliness I have ever dealt with. If you are in the Carson City area (or happen to have a problem while passing through) I highly recommend you give them a call.

Very good car repair shop ! Staff is great to work with. Take both my Chevy SS and Mustangs to them and receive great service! Very fair with prices; repair work is top notch.

Wow!!! They saved me $ 6350! The infinity dealer in San Francisco quoted me $ 6400 to replace my full exhaust train because it was rusted out. Comes to find out it only needed a spot weld to prevent the rattling from occurring only 40 bucks! What a difference. Thanks Jonah.

These guys are amazing! I had them install a new transmission. They beat every other quote, then actually stuck to the quoted price! They also did the work in about ¼ the time that anyone else said they could, and my car’s been running smoothly ever since. I can’t see using anyone else.

Outstanding service! Fixed my RV problem the day I came in. The owner and his son are there to help and the techs are smart and customer oriented. My only regret is, they are not located in my home town. Simply some of the best automotive service at reasonable prices I’ve ever encountered. I think they can fix anything on wheels with a motor in it!

I had a great experience at Performance Auto Care. I was on vacation and had engine problems. The service people were very knowledgable and friendly. They fixed my problem quickly and charged me a reasonable price.

After my most recent experience with Performance Auto Care, I am extremely disappointed with both their skill level and their treatment of me as a formerly loyal customer. I would warn any potential customer, especially Class A motor homes owners with large Cummins diesels, to proceed with caution. They are lacking the Cummins Insite analytic software that saves a lot of trial and error. Trial and error at $ 110 per hour can get very expensive.

As we headed to Heavenly from SF, we noticed a headlamp was out. I called these guys the day before to make an appt and so they could order the part. As a city slicker with CA plates driving a Mercedes, I expected to get taken advantage of. Not with these guys. They absolutely rock and treated me with integrity, honesty, and excellent customer service. The job cost $ 48 with parts and labor (I pay that just walking in the door in SF) and was in and out of there in 20 minutes. I highly recommend! Thank you!

Called these guys from the road because I had a terrible noise coming from my brakes, they got me in as I drove up. As it turns out it was just a build up of salt and sand from the road, but they cleaned it out and had me out of there within a half an hour. They all seemed great.

These guys are great! I wanted to buy a used car off of Craigslist, but due to past horrible experiences I was determined to get it checked out by a mechanic first. (which is VERY challenging when buying off of Craigslist) The guy I was buying from lived in Carson so I needed to find a mechanic there (me being from Reno) I called Performance and they got me an appointment for later that same day. The car seller ended up showing up right when they were supposed to close, but the awesome guys at Performance stayed late on a Friday night to get this done for me. They were fast yet efficient, and way less expensive than other shops in town. I think I was dealing with one of the owners, but all the guys there were very friendly. They gave me a very detailed used car report of what the car will be needing in the future as well. The location of the shop is weird, being on some sort of back alley dirt road, but who cares if they really know what they are doing, and they treat you right?! Performance Auto Care ROCKS!

My wife and I broke down in our RV and we called Steve! What a great guy! What a great caring repair shop! He sent a employee out to help us out while we were broke down on the freeway. He even volunteered to stay open late to help. Fortunately it was minor and we were on our way! I wished we lived closer to his shop so we could take all our auto/​RV repairs there! What a great experience!
I would recommend this auto repair to everyone! To the residents of Carson City consider yourselves very fortunate to have someone of this caliber in your community!

Super fast same day service. $ 85 a hour. Would go again for a third experience.

Took my car in and had an estimate within a couple hours. They did a great job for a great price, they even put on new tires which were cheaper than any tire store around.

Hate to keep saying this over and over and over but…
Did a little tooling around in the boonies with my Jeep and heard a «clunk» coming from the front end somewhere. This is my daily driver so I was kind of concerned. Got it into Performance and even though a couple of mechanics had called in sick, they replaced the defective sway bar links and had it back to me the same day at a very reasonable price.
I would trust these guys with a blank check.

I was referred here by my Dad, who told me that every time he had a problem with our cars that he couldn’t figure out, he took it to Performance Auto. He told me where they were, and I got a tiny bit sketched out because it’s on a dirt road, not too visible from anywhere. It’s not a huge jazzy establishment, it’s a handful of mechanics that actually know what they are doing. Which is what you want.
I took my car here, which was having fan problems, cooling problems, and started to randomly die on me. They were extremely helpful with me and let me leave my car there all day, and overnight to fully examine all of it’s funny problems. They called me the following day, and told me it’s all fixable, they already got the parts in, and told me exactly what the problems were. Damn failing sensors. That same day, they called again and said they were done, come pick it up. So I got a little nervous, thinking about all the hours of labor they could possibly charge me. Almost 2 full days, right? Well, they did not rip me off. They detailed on my invoice the exact amount of hours, the problems, the parts. I even called a few days later because my engine fan wasn’t kicking on at the right time, and they told me to easily adjust it on my own, simple dimples.
Wonderful, honest hard workers. I have massive respect for them.
