History

Established in 1972.

In an effort to support the local economy as his business is seeing tremendous growth, Scott decided it was time to expand his operations and consolidate his offices, showroom, warehouse and production facility into one Castro Valley location. He found a great commercial space, and the Company has recently completed its move. Come and visit our new location at 2516 San Carlos Avenue in Castro Valley. We are open Monday — Friday 7am — 4pm, Saturday 9am — 4pm.

Rayco is run by Scott Henderson, 4th generation Castro Valleyian. Scott’s grandparents settled in Castro Valley in 1946, and began what is now a four generation legacy of Castro Valley residents. Scott’s parents met at CVHS, and his father, Lloyd Henderson, was a General Contractor, and Scott followed in his father’s footsteps, and obtained his General Contractor’s License.

After many years as a successful project manager, Scott had the opportunity to purchase his own door and window company and take the knowledge and skill generated from his experience and venture out on his own.

I prefer supporting local businesses & Rayco Door & Window does not disappoint. The owner, Scott & his associates are professional and courteous. He worked with my busy schedule to coordinate the installation. A broken window is disconcerting & I appreciate how quickly he got it done. The installation & clean up was well done. Equally important is the knowledge that they stand by their work & strive to provide great customer service. Thanks!

I must admit, when I first searched through Unilocal and found Rayco Door & Window, I was a bit hesitant on calling them based on the very few reviews… and well… as well as the rating. However, I then realized that they also have 28 filtered reviews which sucks because I’m pretty sure more than 50% of them were legit reviews but filtered based on Unilocal’s unexplained algorithm. Anyhow, to get to the point, I decided to give them a try and was pleasantly surprised with their customer service. Scott, the owner, great guy. You can tell he’s very hands on and really care about his work and his customers. Pretty nice guy, my guess is he’s maybe a Virgo or Pisces?
Anyhow, try him out if you ever need doors, windows, and/​or mouldings.

Owner seems to own up to his mistake, which deserves a large bump in my book. I may try them again next time I am in need of a door if I have time off during the week to handle everything. I ended up getting my needs taken care of last time at another company that charged about twice the amount rayco had quoted me on the phone, so for the price I am willing to give them another chance.
The reason you have better reviews hidden is because the system discounts reviews depending on the reviewer. If it’s someone that hasn’t written reviews before or has an account potentially linked to paid reviews they don’t show up.

I ordered an entry door from Rayco. I quoted from more than 10 stores and their price is the best, almost 60% of the highest quote and still a couple of hundreds lower than the 2nd and 3rd best quote.
I was a bit hesitant due to other review comments but I decided to give them a try.
In my dealing with them in person, over the phone and via email, the service was great. They are very patient and working with me on all the details, even I am just ordering 1 door from them.
The delivery was a bit delayed but I think that’s because of the holiday season.

Rayco quickly and skillfully replaced a broken patio door window for me after my house was broken into. Scott and his team were able to do an emergency repair the very next day.
Since they had already removed all the broken glass, they offered me a discounted quote on the replacement glass repair.

I have worked with Rayco on a couple of door and window projects, and have always been pleased. I have not had anything installed by them, but they are meticulous to make sure orders are correct and to spec. In fact, they caught a mistake on a window before I got there to pick it up, and had it promptly fixed on their dime. Scott is knowledgeable and helpful. I would not hesitate to use them again.

We’ve had two different projects done by Rayco in the past year, and I have nothing but good things to say. The gentlemen who did the installation were insanely meticulous, and had to come up with some creative ideas to complete the installation ’cause our house is over 100 years old and things are a bit warped with age. The owner and staff I’ve met have been upbeat and quick to respond with estimates, follow-​ups, etc.
I’ve dealt with contractors for my home and business and these folks are among the best with whom I’ve worked.

Wow, just called this company to make an appointment for a bid… the girls answering the phone were unfriendly and unhelpful. When I told them we were interested in a commercial dutch door she replied «Oh, we don’t do that» when I asked why she said «Commercial sounds like metal, we don’t do metal». I told her we wanted a wood door to which she huffed «I can pass your information along to my boss, and he can decide.» To that I say, NO THANK YOU!

Still waiting for completion of a job that has been going on for almost 6 months. One problem after another with this shady outfit. First Scott tried to force an invoice on me that did not match contracted work and demanded final payment for this step of work. I refused. Then interior doors came they were not painted just primed. Then some were taken out to be painted when returned many weeks later were not what was called out in contract. Later interior door with glass finally came the bottom panel of that door did not match the rest .Door was removed and no further work will be done until I agree to owners demand to except this door as is. This was a custom ordered that the owner of Rayco ordered himself and he got it wrong. He has now demanded payment in full without completing his contract. Please do not put your self through a night mare like this RUN FROM THIS SHADY OUTFIT!!!

We live in Alamo and we had Rayco come out to give us price on several itiems we found their prices to be very fair. We contracted for the work to be done and everything was done to our standards. They replaced door hardware, conpletely replaced a back door with a beutiful french door and changed some window pains that had some scratches left from a stuco contractor. It was very nice to have a company that was a one stop shop. They did such a good job that we have now had them out to a few rentals to do some repairs.

Scott came out twice to give me quotes on all the windows I want to replace and so far I have replaced 2 of them and have been very happy. He is thorough and you can hardly tell he was there except for the new window, meaning good clean up. He gave me a lot of options to get a good look without breaking the bank. NOTE TO HOMEOWNERS… If you need any kind of work done to your home, do not work with RAYCO DOOR AND WINDOW. They will waste your time and not do quality work. RAYCO have come out 3 times to fix the windows they installed because it’s not done right, and now they don’t want to make it right by giving me a break on the price. Plus when they tell you they are going to call a certain day, they call a week later.
