SCREENMAN has been in business over 20 years and offers a wide variety of custom screening services. We specialize in the fabrication, installation, and screening of window screens, slider/​hinged screen doors, retractable screen doors, and solar screens.

History

Established in 1996.

SCREENMAN was originally created by two brothers Jeff and Doug Hansen 20 years ago. It was founded on the idea that exceptional service and superior products makes peoples’ quality of life better. SCREENMAN grew its reputation organically, a referral based business that exists based on the outstanding service experience we provide.

Craig came over and assessed my screens, which were in deplorable condition and came off the tracks more than they stayed on, for my six sliding doors. He actually really tried to talk me out of getting new screens as he deems them expensive. He was going to try and fix them for me, to which I responded that I was D.O.N.E with the cheap, bulk manufactured screens.
Two weeks later, Craig came over in the afternoon, on a very hot day, and built all six of my custom screens. He completed them on time and at a price I felt VERY much matched what I received in quality. In fact, I even threw in a tip. The new screens are an absolute pleasure to operate. I just wish I would have done this sooner, saving me oodles of frustration.
I highly recommend Craig and his work. I will dole out business cards at any opportunity I have to promote him and his work.

Craig — AKA Screenman — was terrific — completely professional in every way: quoted me prices on the phone and those were the prices he charged. He’s very busy, but the time we arranged on the phone was the time he arrived. He measured our windows, gave us advice without any pressure, and completely the entire job quickly and professionally. ONe note: his truck is big enough that ensuring that there’s a place to park it was important. Fortunately, there is room near our house in Berkeley — but this is something you should be aware of. Great work, Craig. Our screens are terrific.

This is my FIRST Unilocal review but had to figure it out to review Doug the screen guy. He did a professional job and was very personable as well. The doors are wonderful especially this time of the year where it’s cool in the evenings but there are flies hatching. We get the cool breeze but not the bugs. Better though, the price of the doors plus installation is was very reasonable. Thanks Doug! Great job!

I rarely Unilocal,but I want to give a hearty endorsement to Screenman. The birds had really done a number on my screens so after I was confident the wind and rain of El Niño had passed, I rang up the Screenman. Craig called me right back, we scheduled a time and he arrived EARLY! Getting points already.
We walked my house and he inspected all the screens and told me which ones were fine and which ones were on the verge and he let me decide which ones we were switching out.
Craig posted up at his awesome mobile screen building setup and rebuilt all my screens right outside my house.
I’m so happy with Craig’s honesty, timeliness and work ethic.
Seriously, call Craig now if you need anything with screens. I’m really happy I did.

Doug returned my message promptly, listened to what I needed, and explained his sevice. He arrived right on time, repaired 12 window screens and one screen door (dog proof screen) in a short period of time. I had a few bent frames which he managed to pound out. I appreciate Doug saving me some money.
Doug was friendly, fast, and the price was VERY reasonable. My neighbor even ran over with a screen to repair and he was thrilled!

After viewing all these Unilocal reviews about Doug, I was extremely confident in using him for repair/​replace my screen door that my dog had ran through. I called Doug yesterday morning, and left a message. He promptly called back and told me he would be in my area during a certain time, and could stop by. Doug was here during the short time frame he told me the day before. I went with the polyester/​pet screen version. Doug was extremely polite, and very friendly. We had a great conversation during the time we was here. I believe he was in, and out within 15 minutes or so. We are extremely happy with the door, and screen quality is top notch! I wouldnt hesitate to use his services again if ever needed.

I called Screenman to get a new patio screen door to be installed. I was given a quote that was reasonable and willing to accept his quote. As soon as he asked me where I lived, he quickly stated, «I’m sorry but I don’t service your area.» He then proceeded to refer me to another screening company out in San Francisco! SERIOUSLY?! I live about 20 minutes away from Walnut Creek. San Francisco is 30 – 35 minutes further!
I guess he’s so busy that he has to deny new clients! His name sounds as if he’s somewhat of a screen hero or something, but more of like a let down. He definitely doesn’t have my vote and I will sure spread the word to my friends and family that live in his area to go with the other company that HE RECOMMENDED!

Doug Hansen, the Screenman comes to your house with his flat bed trailer and all tools necessary and replaces all those window screens you have been meaning to repair one of these days.
I just got a new cat and I figured if I want to keep him indoors, that sliding door screen needed help.
Doug showed up and promptly replaced the screen, put it back in place and was on his way in a matter of minutes. He impressed me as a gentleman who knows what he is doing.
