Commonwealth Roofing & Siding, LLC is a family-run and owned VA Class-A contractor located in Chantilly, VA. We specialize in residential Roofing, Siding, and Gutter replacements/repairs, along with most facets of exterior remodeling. We are fully licensed and insured in the state of Virginia.

History

Established in 2012.

I opened Commonwealth Roofing & Siding in 2012 with the goal of combining my 30+ years of experience in the construction industry with my desire to provide a professional contracting service that stresses honesty, integrity, high quality and a personal touch.

I’m happy to report that after 4 successful years in business, the phones continue to ring… and owe most of our good fortune to referrals from happy customers. (Keep ‘em coming!)

With more than 30 years of diversified construction experience, Mike Fontaine is well versed with all of your roofing, siding, gutters, and window needs. He is a native of Fairfax, Virginia and started Commonwealth Roofing and Siding after acquiring over 15 years of roofing experience.

We had a new roof installed a couple years ago by Commonwealth and the tenants reported a leak near the chimney which I figure was related to the roof. Mike, the owner, immediately investigated and determined the chimney cap needed repair and was not related to the roof replacement. Thanks Mike for following up so quickly!

It was a pleasure to do business with Mike and his team. He takes plenty of time to sit down with you and arrive at what works best for you and your house. His roofing team showed up promptly first thing in the morning and got the old roof off, made repairs to the framing, and had a new roof on all in one day. They followed-up the next day to ensure that everything had been cleaned up. The gutter team was equally professional; and Mike QC’ed the project.
Overall we are very happy, and the finished roof made our house look 10x better than it had before!

I made an appointment for them to check my roof. On the appointment day, Mike called me one hour before the appointment time and told me that he could not come because of other things. Once he learned that my home insurance company, he just told me that most probably the insurance company would not pay for replacing the roof, and then said that he would come the second day and told me for anything he found. And I never got his call after that! If you don’t want the business, please tell me up front instead of wasting everybody’s time!!!

From his office manager to Mike himself I can’t recommend them enough. He was honest, told us we didn’t need a complete roof replacement. We could repair our leak and had a few more years left on our roof. Made recommendations about the gutters and is going to seal up and fix a few other problem areas. If you need roof work call Mike.

I contacted Commonwealth after a recommendation from a friend of mine. Mike inspected my roof and gave me valuable information (including noticing a chimney cap that has eroded). He let me know my roof had five more years of life. Mike was very knowledgeable, and more important — honest. I will definitely be contacting the company in five years when my roof needs replacement.

Came out for a quote quickly. Their quote was very reasonable, however after having a couple of other quotes I do think they missed a few big items that were contributing to my roof/gutter problem.
All in all, I think they are trustworthy and very reasonable, but maybe not quite as comprehensive as the other quotes I got. I’d keep them on my short list for future work though.

Thanks to Commonwealth, we now have great new gutters! Mike the owner came up with a new gutter design to solve drainage problems we’d had for years. Since we have a large roof area, Mike also recommended 6″ gutters and downspouts. And he made time in his busy schedule to get our gutters done right away.
His crew, with Carlos in charge, did a fantastic job of installation. They arrived on time and worked quickly and quietly. Mike had told Carlos we had some special requests for the downspouts. Carlos made sure of what we wanted, and then carried out every detail perfectly. Now we have water being directed exactly as needed, including to two rain gardens. There was no extra charge for this custom design.
Another plus: The crew left the property neat and clean. Thanks, Mike, and thanks to your fantastic crew!

After meeting with 4 different roofing companies, we went with Mike at Commonwealth. Our roof needed to be completely re-done as it was rotted out and the plywood was not up to code anymore. Mike took the time to discuss the project plan which we appreciated as we are new home owners. He provided a very reasonable quote, had sooner availability than others and was able to install our roof in one day. Once the roof was installed, his crew picked up all of the stray nails and kept our yard clean. Couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommend to anyone who needs a roofing update.

In the DC Metropolitan area there are many roofing companies vying for business. Some are large and have been around a long time and claim to be experts. Others are unknown quotients. But occasionally one finds someone very experienced, smart, honest, thorough and fair. Such was my experience with Mike Fontaine, the owner of Commonwealth Roofing and Siding. I had a roof with two layers of shingles totaling 60 years in age… obviously well past their life expectancy. Mike met with me, examined my roof carefully himself, explained everything he thought should be done, and listened to my many questions and answered them politely and completely. He said the job could be done «next week» and in one day. With winter fast approaching, I was thrilled to hear it could be done so soon. He was good to his word and my house was re-roofed the following week and in one day! His company also installed new gutters with the leaf relief system. Watching his crew work was like listening to a finely tuned orchestra… the work flowed smoothly and steadily. He has a great crew! His gutter people are also excellent. My house looks gorgeous with the new roof and I feel secure knowing it is ready for winter and other weathers. I am a VERY SATISFIED customer and I highly recommend Commonwealth Roofing and Siding to anyone who needs any roof work done.
