History

Established in 2005.

Owner Ted Dombrowski established Ted’s Butcherblock in 2005 to fill a void in Charleston’s growing culinary landscape: The need for a full-service butcher shop. Dombrowski aims to offer the best quality products he can find — from all-natural beef, pork, poultry & game to the freshest seafood, unique wines, craft beers and more. The shop’s popular prepared foods are made with the same top-quality ingredients featured in the cases and coolers at this neighborhood market and café.

Meet the Business Owner

Ted D.

Business Owner

Owner Ted Dombrowski grew up in an international family in the food industry. His mother, Helen, is of German descent and she and Ted’s father, Hank Dombrowski, owned and operated a successful restaurant and catering business in New Jersey. Ted’s immigrant grandparents, Polish natives Walter and Mary Dombrowski, were butchers in New Jersey for nearly 40 years.

International tastes, smells and flavors were part of Ted’s childhood in New Jersey. Today, he draws upon his family’s values of hard work and enterprising spirit at his neighborhood butcher shop and café in historic Charleston.
