History

Established in 2009.

After 12+ years stringing rackets for specialty stores and large chains, I want to give racket sports enthusiasts a convenient alternative. I don’t believe you should have to wait over 2 days to have your racket serviced. If you have the time to meet with me, I can guarantee your racket will be done within 48 hours. Same day service can also be provided upon availability and advance notice.

Former Junior, High School, D-​1 College tennis player with over 20 years playing experience. I began stringing tennis rackets in high school, then started stringing professionally during college. Since I’ve worked for Chicago Tennis & Golf Company and several Sports Authority stores throughout Chicago. I am a tennis player at heart who enjoys making sure players have the best equipment possible.

Glad I decided to contact Ansel! I arranged same day service with him, dropped off my racquet, got lunch, picked it up, and was on the courts that afternoon. He is extremely friendly and helpful regarding string selection, and hooked me up with a great hybrid string combo that I liked alot more than my old strings. Sport Authority didn’t carry most of the top-​rated strings, and for the ones they did have, they wanted more money, and no same day service. Easy decision– go with Ansel.

Ansel is super efficient. I called him on Monday to get my racquet strung. Being a newbie, I wasn’t sure what kind of string to get, but he recommended something and explained everything to me. He didn’t try to push the very expensive stuff to me at all. The whole time he is very friendly on the phone and his price is very affordable.
He was able to pick it up the next day, and when I got back from work today, he had already delivered it to my doorman!
I will try out my racquet next week, but so far it looks pretty good. I will go to Ansel as long as I live in Chicago.

Ansel provides unreal customer service. He worked with me by mail to string my racquets as I live in the burbs. He also picked up and dropped off one time when I was downtown for the day. His prices are very reasonable, and he’ll even take your strings if you have already bought them. His turnaround is basically 24 hours. His work is good, the consistency of stringing is solid. He’s very knowledgeable too. He’ll recommend strings based on what you’re looking for. Great experience so far!

I’ve been going to Ansel for over a year now to get my racquets strung. Let me back up a little bit to give you a reference point…
When I first moved to Chicago, I found out that tennis stringers were few and far between, which was surprising. So I trekked around to different shops, and settled on a shop that is notorious for servicing UIC and DePaul. Customer service was horrible, prices were pretty outrageous, but I dealt with it.
Then I found Ansel. Customer service can’t be beat (he’ll pick up /​drop off the racquets wherever you are). His stringing prices are very reasonable. And you get good feedback if you want to talk about racquets/​strings. In other places, if you’re not buying $ 250 worth of gear along with your stringing, you’re useless.
Long story short, save yourself some money and frustration and get your racquets strung here. You won’t regret it.
