Sports Authority has a long and rich history of being the authority and value leader in equipping and outfitting the athletes in us all. Headquartered in Englewood, CO, Sports Authority dates back to 1928, when a local newspaper carrier started the Gart Sports company with $ 50 in fishing rod samples.

Really nice staff here. The cashier signed me up for their rewards program so quickly, I didn’t even realize I was signing up! Very smooth and easy. The manager in charge then honored my $ 10 off Unilocal coupon — even though it was showing ‘expired’.
Was nicely greeted throughout the store as well.

Thank you so much to the wonderful woman behind the counter tonight who helped me! I bought four pair of sunglasses as party favors and just wanted a little ouch to put them in so they didn’t get scratched. One of the ladies who helped me walked me over to the cases I could buy, but they were all very bulky. The woman who rang me up was able to provide me with slip pouches for them and they were free of charge. Excellent customer service and so nice about it, too. Thank you so much for going the extra mile!

Just left this place very disappointed. Came here to buy a Pilates ball. I wasn’t unsure if 55 cm or 65 cm. And Internet didn’t work, so I headed to a store to test them, even though you could end up paying more. I asked if they had any open to be tested /​tried etc. that’s the main reason sometimes I go to a store and don’t buy the item online. Well, the answer was «none open, you can’t try or touch them». Great! Didn’t buy it won’t be back here.

This store is exceptional for the customer service I received. I purchased a very large, awkwardly shaped item which would not fit in my car. Angel dedicated some considerable time, effort and ingenuity to secure it safely to my car and get it home with very little trouble. He had a great sense of humor about the whole thing and truely went out of his way. When businesses employ people like Angel, they succeed. I will definately shop at the Fullerton store again and recommend it to others.

I found exactly what I needed, every staff member was extremely helpful, and the prices were right.
I needed some cheap cleats for rec football and soccer leagues I’m in. These are once a week, very relaxed leagues, so I wasn’t going to spend a fortune on anything. I looked lost, someone came up to me and asked what I needed help with and they sent me in the right direction. Once I reached the cleats section, an associated pointed me to the clearance rack and helped me find the right style and size.
I also needed some water shoes/​waders for a rafting trip and again was correctly directed to the right place. Once I was at the water sports section, I was again greeted and asked if I needed help.
At the checkout, Dyanie was very friendly and helpful, even signing me up for their rewards program.
I’d be back and would recommend it to anyone who needs some sports equipment.

Worst customer service I’ve ever had — I actually didn’t. I was in the store for more than half an hour and no one asked if I needed help. I even went to look for them and found no one. The ladies at the register are nice. But to be in the actual floor and look for assistance is impossible. Really hope they fix this. Having a family with a lot of boys that do sports and not knowing what to get, I needed the help. I think I might just go to Dick’s instead.

Great people at this location. Had to pick up some jackets for an employee anniversary celebration. Had to go to a few different ones to get the right sizes. My coworker had called ahead and I was the pick-​up person, since I live in the city. They had everything ready, as promised, and the process was really easy!
It’s funny, because I have never really shopped at this store. However, if you browse around, they have some really nice merchandise. Some of it a bit pricier than I’m used to, but it is «first run» Nike, Adidas etc. I’m used to a limited selection of possibly «second run» or less cool merch at Kohls (not to dis Kohls, as they have nice stuff too. Just not as biggedy bam. You can see the difference as far as cutting edge style.)
Either way, great store. I’ll be frequenting more often!

The selection isn’t great but the staff really helps to fill that gap as best they can. The gentleman who was helping me, Ronaldo may have been his name, was exuberant! He had wonderful energy and when he couldn’t find what I was looking for, he showed me reasonable alternatives that met my needs. While this store is by no means perfect, it’s by leaps and bound better than the Sports Authority on LaSalle which is decrepit, disorganized and repulsive. The layout suits a browsing shopper and it’s easy to stop by and grab whatever you need pretty quickly, as long as it’s in stock.

Most people don’t make a trip to the city on a Sunday to get some shopping done. But I do and I’m glad I did.
This location is leaps and bounds better than the one in Schaumburg. The selection is much better and they have the same Unilocal check in special $ 10 off of a $ 50 purchase. Workers here were helpful and personable. I found what I needed and was on my way in no time.

I went to this location to get a specific bicycle. Not only did it break within an hour, the bike turned out to be a 13 months old used bike that had been returned and repaired.

Wah wah wah, it’s pricey. I don’t feel like the prices are any more than I would pay online from the specific company (usually UA), and I usually end up with a coupon anyhow. So, not really expensive, depending on what you’re buying and when.
Years ago, this store was just «meh». No one was very helpful and the selection was terrible. Well, they’ve improved, especially in the employee department. I seriously had a conversation about socks with one of them. Not a short conversation either.
The location stinks (as far being between the clusterfuck that is Elston/​Damen/​Fullerton and the clusterfuck that is Clybourn/​Ashland/​Fullerton), but it’s not awful, especially if you know shortcuts during rush hour. At least the parking lot isn’t bad.

Sports Authority is NOT the cheapest athletic supplier around, but I still dig it. Here’s why:
1. Golf balls. The selection is great! My mother, an avid golfer, will only golf with two brands of balls and they must be pink. She’s superstitious and weird like that. I can’t find them anywhere I normally shop, so I always buy them at Sports Authority and they’re always under $ 20 for a big box. I know, that’s still expensive, but she’s a picky lady and I like to please her on Mother’s Day, ok?
2. Very nice apparel selection. Everything is totally name brand (Nike, Adidas, etc.) so if that’s what you like (unlike me, who buys her workout gear at Target and Old Navy), you’re in business. SA offers tons of sizes and variety and honestly has everything you’d need to outfit yourself stylishly while getting your sweat on. I bought my mom a pink Adidas golf visor. She liked it.
The staff is very friendly. Free parking lot.
Now go get yer golf balls.

My husband is like, an athletic god. He has run 2 triathalons and is gearing up to run a marathon — so we come to the SA from time to time.
They have a pretty comprehensive selection of stuff. It can be pricey, and I’m sure it’s pricey because it caters to a very specific set of people. Not everyone has the desire to run 26 miles.
We got some electrolyte gels/​snacks/​etc to trial run it for his marathon, and he also got some new shirts.
It’s a decent store, but it can be pricey, depending on what you get.

Another D. Rose t-​shirt fail. Sports Authority had 2 left… in men’s XL. I get that these shirts might be a hot commodity, but don’t they restock? However, if you’re looking for a Kobe Bryant or Lebron James jersey, they seemed to have those in stock. Really?
Their selection of Bulls stuff basically sucked, but they seemed well stocked on everything else.
