I’ve been here a couple of times. I’ve wanted to like this place, but each time certain aspects of it prevented that from happening. Looking beyond the long lines, slow service, and high prices, this place has a few things going for it and several that aren’t too great. The bartenders are very attractive and I can’t recall them ever being rude to me. They are, however, really swamped. Perhaps more workers are in order. I’ll skip mentioning the bouncers. They were never rude, either, but bouncers are bouncers. The place looks ok on the inside. I would say it’s not too bad of an option for a birthday party if you have a few people chipping in. One thing I’ve notice when I’m there is that it’s tranny central. Good lord. So many drunk-faced guys in Ed Hardy shirts hitting on what they thought to be chicks. That must have made for an interesting story the next morning… either that or an interesting secret to take to the grave. Seriously, it’s like there was an invisible portal between Crobar and Berlin where the transgendered could move back and forth freely. Don’t get me wrong, I think people should be who they feel they should be. I just couldn’t help thinking what if that was me, completely plastered and ending up like Dennis did in that one episode of Always Sunny.

First of all this club thinks it’s hot. I have to agree with my boyfriend the space is nice the people are not. Maybe it’s the neighborhood but I have been to nicer clubs were people are hot and that’s Scottsdale, Az If you want to go to a snobbish club with great music and hot girls go to LA or Phoenix bleach blonde hair fake tits even Vegas baby! The further out West you are the better. The music is all house music you want good house music Smart bar is the place for that. You want to see girls dress up and look good le Passage is the winner so far.

Crobar can vary from night to night. Overall, I’ve always had a good time! I went on a $ 1 drink night, which was so worth it! The space is really great, not much sitting space, but i loved the high ceiling and the lights, so cool. The music on that Friday night was mostly hip-hop, rap, and dance hip-hop music. Not my thing but it was okay. Mostly the older/young crowd, you know the types that still think they’re in their young 20s, but then again I’ve only been there on a Friday. The staff was great, no hassling, bartenders were nice and attentive. Overall not bad but not the best in Chicago. Maybe I should check it out on a Saturday night.

I’ve always kind of liked Cro Bar. In the past,(many years ago) I would always go to Shelter, but I guess this Chicago nightclub comes in a close second. I think Crobar has a very diverse crowd, which represents different ages and ethnic backgrounds. Prices can sometimes be steep at this spot, but what else do you expect from a downtown club. One thing for sure, Cro Bar always has really good DJs and offers up some great house and hip hop music. The promoters here do a really great job of coming up with new events and theme nights. On Saturday’s, it’s best to hang out on the second level if you are not into feeling like a stuffed sardine. The main dance floor near the stage can get packed.

Hmmmmm, I don’t know, I actually enjoyed myself and had a lot of fun dancing and blowing off some steam because I was really pissed off for the night. And ya know what? I like the place. Fellow whore look alikes were really friendly. It’s fun to whore it up for a night with your clothes and makeup. I’m in my twenties damnit and I’m milking it for what it’s worth before I become a miserable old frigid hag that’s lost her looks and body has gone to hell. Live a little people. If you don’t like it then go to Applebee’s to party or some shit. I think some stay open as late as midnight. I would totally come again dressing provocatively. yes I would. Not in snow though. Decent music. moral of the review is: whore look alikes and dbags aren’t so bad to hang with. You should give them a chance, judger of book covers. You all should be real ashamed of your frigid missionary sex selves. It makes me so sad when people hate these types here, cuz what if I’m one??? or my boyfriend. would you stop reading my reviews? We just wanna dance too ya know. Plus, we are pretty nice once you get to know us. gosh. I mean, I thought we were all about, «Change» up in this bitch. Voting for Obama and shit. so much for celebrating diversity, going green and hating ultra conservative republicans in this damn city. The Shame. Now go back to Skokie or okay, fine. Nebraska.

As Thomas C. says, «Crobar is a great place for people who LOVE loud ass, bass thumping, House music(electro, techno, progressive).» The only downside is the wait to get in. It sucks! lol. We were waiting out there for an entire hour! It was about 2:45 or so by the time we got in, and the music was bumping. No surprise that they played some Chicago House(ahahaa memories…) and of course the mainstream house music. This place was big, but not as big as some other places I’ve been to. Hella packed but not overcongested to the point that you can’t move your arms. Definitely a spot for House heads to check out.

Someone please tell Crobar to ease off on using the fog machine! It was so hazy in here I felt as if I was more drunk than I actually was! O M GEE. Plus, it didn’t make for good pictures since the flash caught all the smoke/fog. At any rate, $ 5 to get in after 11p is not bad at all $ 15 for $ 1 drinks all night long — sweet deal! Ladies, the bathroom attendant is MEAN. I’m not sure if I will return to Crobar when I visit Chicago next but the fact that I didn’t come out drenched in sweat was awesome for a nightclub.

If you are into loud techno and middle-aged drunken people trying to get it on on the dance floor, then this is the place for you. I must say that I was completely misled when I went there –I was under the impression it was a bar– but nevertheless… the drinks were mixed well, but I think the strobe lights might have given me a mild seizure later that night. I had fun people watching though! What is a male cougar called?

I liked Crobar a lot. It’s pretty big, and I like the way it’s decorated. I also liked being in the VIP section all night :) We got here a bit late(Like, 3:30 or 4am late) but there was a still a good handful of people.

I knew what I was getting myself into when I went here. Friends from outta town wanted to go. I pleaded my case for other bars but was outnumbered and reluctantly had to tag along. I hate house music but I’m not going to knock them for that because I know some people like it and thats there thing. I will knock them because upon using the restroom the bathroom attendant kept poking me in the back and pointing to his sign that said tips. I know how the bathroom attendant operation works. If you do something for me that is tipworthy I will tip you but I’m not going to pay you for paper towels to dry my hands. It was one of the rudest most unprofessional experiences I have in my bargoing career.

Crobar makes you feel like the ugly stepsister if your breasts aren’t exposed or you don’t have money falling out of your pockets. This place is HELLONEARTH. We went for a friend’s birthday. They called her THAT day to say we no longer had a table reserved and when we got to the bar, they said the only way we could come in and bypass the line was if we bought 2 bottles… They charge $ 200 a bottle. YEAHRIGHT. Who in their right mind would pay $ 400 to be groped on a dance floor by sweaty roided up guys? Not I said the fly. We went to martini park instead, where girls get in for FREE.

Ok, I hate Crobar. Seriously. The last time I was there, I was so annoyed with the crowd, the long line and the high prices. But, my friends were hangin’ out here on Friday, so I thought I’d join them. It was early(like, 10pm) and they had a free text for us to get in. Why not? So, by the time I got there, the line was pretty long and you KNOW there’s no one inside. Whatever. I have to admit –it was definitely worth the wait, though. The doorman gives me 2 free drink tix and mardi gras beads. Oh, right, it’s Mardi Gras! It was pretty empty inside and the bartender was serving up some pretty strong well drinks(even though they were free!). Music was good(they were playing old school hip-hop with a reggaton beat) and they had psychic readers on hand. AND a marching band. Wow, is this really Crobar? I decided that the coked out crowd probably arrives after 130am and that’s why I was having a pretty fun time. So, if that really isn’t your scene, I suggest gettin’ there before 11 and taking advantage of the non-sleezy crowd and possible free drinks.

Crobar is a great place for people who LOVE loud ass, bass thumping, House music(electro, techno, progressive), enjoy dancing, and live in the moment. The best nights to go are definitely saturdays. Valet parking is available for around $ 10. There is a cover charge of $ 20 on regular nights and up to $ 40 for nights when a big name DJ comes to perform. Passwords are easily found just by checking out the flyers on their website, signing up for their email list for updates, or even asking people in line if they know the password for the night. Knowing the password normally gets you in for free before midnight and half off after. Coat check is normally $ 4. You can expect to pay approximtely $ 10 per drink/shot so for those of you that are price conscious the best thing to do is pre game at home with your friends or at a local bar. Enjoy the diversity inside the club, as it’s a place for everyone to come together and have a great time. There are all types of people in the club; The Club Head, The Meat Head, women that resemble barbie dolls, the occasional old guy, the creepy guy that some how ninjas his way behind you while you’re dancing, drag queens, gay/lesbian, white, euro, mexican, black, asian, and oh my «normal people» watch out for them… lol. If you say yes to the next couple questions then you’ll have a good time at Crobar, otherwise try to be open to unexpected things that you may run into there. Do you Enjoy listening to Electronic Music, specifically House, Electro, Techno and Progressive? Do you Enjoy the activities at the Club: Dance, People Watch, Socialize and Meet New People, Chill and Listen to the Music, Drink, Walk Around and Explore all while listening to House Music?

Compared to some of the upper-end nightclubs in Chicago, this club is pretty decent. Cover is still ridiculous for certain nights, but the club is big with a huge dance floor and an amazing sound system. This place gets packed pretty well, and around midnight you’ll be lucky to find a spot on the dance floor. The music selection is great if you like upbeat dance music(house, euro, trance), and my experience with the staff has been pretty good so far. My only gripes are the expensive cover for coat check and parking(good luck finding it). The lights and lasers are amazing, the sound system is the best in Chicago, and there is an upper level and bar for people to hang out at as well. There are some big name DJs that give excellent performances here which is worth the cover. Just be aware of some of the spiky-hair meatheads and the fake-blonde/fake-boob/fake-tan ladies.

Crobar isn’t for everyone, but I happen to not be claustrophobic or mind house music. I love the scene: the mix of house and techno music is intense, both in style and volume. The Saturday I was there, an enthusiastic live drummer got the crowd going early on and a go-go dancer(complete with plumage) did some fancy acrobatic work. The venue is a large warehouse-esque room with multiple floors, creatively split: there’s a VIP/special parties area, a central dance floor crammed full of enthusiastic, writhing partygoers, scattered seating, and multiple bars. Dig the lighting. Even with the random annoyances[1][2] I experienced, it’s hard for me to dislike Crobar since it’s a place I’d return, thanks to a healthy crowd and thumping music. Your mileage may vary. [1] Irked I wasn’t informed that my guest list was«free before midnight» otherwise I would have arrived earlier. Luckily the folks with me practically party here 24/7, so the friendly door staffer waved us through the VIP line. [2] The bartenders are none too creative — I asked one for a light shot, but got a shot of Patron instead. Not sure he heard me, but I’d like to think I yell loud enough. Of course, Patron shots aren’t cheap, but hey, I didn’t pay cover.

To sum this place up, it’s that club where you are having a great time out drinking wherever… and someone… usually the most drunk person in your entourage… says«Hey guys… let’s go to CROBAR! It’ll be so much fun! Oh my god, let’s go to Crobar!» That same person sees the INDUSTRY stamp on her hand the next morning and calls everyone else and says«Oh god, guys, I’m so sorry. I was really… really drunk. I don’t even like Crobar.» Crowd: One star. It’s suburbanites, guidos, tourists, and all sorts of sketchy people. I end up playing guardian to my female friends(and most recently, my girlfriend.) Girlfriend remarked she had fun, but she’d never bring female friends without male protection. Douchebags wearing button-ups unbuttoned to 2 buttons, wearing sunglasses inside, blowout haircuts straight out of Internet hit video«My New Haircut», and all sorts of terrible. You can imagine the coke running out of their nose. Go-go Dancers: They’re straight from VIP’s next door and trashy as hell. Everything else: Place is huge. The sound system is unrivaled in Chicago. DJs play quality music(mostly on Saturday.) Open until at LEAST4. You can literally get lost in this place between the smoke, the air horns, and the insanity. Watch out for the crowd.

WTF happend to my old review. Before its club appearance change, it was an awesome club(Five to 10 years ago, fucking awesome.) Now its too fucking expensive. hard as hell to get onto a free cover — guest list. Too much pretentious bullshit. Its more about what your wearing and not the music. Dj’s are blah. I would only consider going if they had big names spinning. Benny Benassi was here recently, but, his show was alot better at Vision. Crobar NYC or Miami are a much better experience. Another reviewer said it felt like a rave. Dude. Crobar is unlike a rave. Only that, alot of their customers would shy a person away from dressing like a typical rave goer. Try and bust out some glow sticks. You could get a few distasteful looks.

I stopped waiting in line and paying for cover years ago so Crobar isn’t typically an option when I’m going out at night. However, after a wonderful dinner at Carnivale last night my friend and I had a few too many mojitos and decided to try something different. In this case different meant Crobar. We got there earlier(10 pm) than the typical Crobar crowd, but there was still a very long line. Fortunately that line moved fast and we were inside within 10 minutes. Crobar itself is absolutely huge– I’m used to packing in these little lounges so it was nice to have some room to move around(although I’m sure later in the evening it gets pretty crowded). The bartender was friendly and made us some free drinks on crobar with Xcellent Vodka. Ick– they really need to rename this vodka because it is far from Xcellent. The crowd was«interesting» so it was an entertaining place to do some people watching. Being the old ladies that my friend and I have become we only lasted about an hour and then retired to our beds for the evening. I can’t say I’ll ever go back to Crobar, but it was fun to check out for an evening(ummm…I mean, an hour).
