Established in 2012.

Welcome to E. Miles and Associates, P.C., Attorneys at Law. Our founding partner, Erik Miles, is an Illinois State Bar Assemblyman and DuPage County Bar Association Judiciary Committee Member. He is the Co-​Chair of the Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyers Section Diversity Committee and Illinois Bar Foundation Fellow. After five years, some of which as partner, of participating in the growth of one of Wheaton/​Carol Stream’s finest law practices with less than ten attorneys, Mr. Miles founded E. Miles and Associates, P. C in 2012. Mr. Miles is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law.

Mr. Miles has extensive experience representing Illinois homeowners suffering from the effects of these uncertain economic times. He has assisted hundreds of families with stopping foreclosures and obtaining short sales, loan modifications or deeds in lieu of foreclosure. Mr. Miles corporate practice focuses on business entities with less than 50 employees. He has assisted countless clients start-​up their limited liability companies, Series LLC’s and S-​Corporations. He negotiates franchise agreements, business purchase and sales, commercial leases, shareholder agreements and operating agreements.

Mr. Miles represents individuals and business owners in litigation. His prior experience includes breach of contract, LL/​T, small claims, arbitration and law division matters.

I am a real estate professional who just closed a short sale transaction with Atty Miles. Atty Miles represented my seller and walked my seller through every step of the transaction. We hired Erik to work with us on the sale of our condo in Rogers Park on the recommendation of our agent and we couldn’t have been happier with the decision. Selling a home is never easy, especially when you have already moved across the country. Erik and his team assisted us in working through one failed sale (due to the buyer not being able to secure financing) and then through the actual sale only a few weeks later. He was very responsive to our questions and concerns. I would highly recommend Erik and his team to anyone.

WARNING, DO NOT USE THSI LAWYER! I wish I could go lower than one star on this review. Erik Miles is the worst Lawyer you could possibly hire. He made mistake after mistake that almost cost me my condo when I was closing my deal. Luckily for me my Realtor caught most of his mistakes and informed Erik of his many errors and to fix them before closing. He delegates all of his work to his other staff who are not qualified to do the work. When it came time to close Erik was no where to be found… Instead of Erik (the lawyer I regrettably hired), I got a friend of his to fill in because he decided last minute to hop a flight out of the country to watch a soccer match. I am in my condo now and the place is great, no thanks to Erik, However he never got with the sellers attorney to hash out details about the taxes owed by the previous owner. I now have tax problems (2 days into living in my condo) and Erik is still no where to be found. I leave messages, he doesn’t get back, I send emails, he does not respond. I am running out of options here and will have to go into the office to literally force him to do his job. This is not only a Terrible Lawyer we are talking about… but a terrible human being. May god have mercy on his soul. I have never been so upset than when I was when working with this scum of the earth. WOW!!!

I was recently involved in a condo deal where Mr Miles was the seller’s attorney. I have never been more frustrated by the other side’s representation. First of all, never once did my lawyer speak to anyone besides his assistant, even when there was considerable issues in obtaining some crucial documentation. Second, the assistant’s attention to detail was severely lacking (poor math skills, not paying attention to whether a fax properly transmitted). Finally, I find out that the seller was the one hounding the condo association for the pertinent documents, not her lawyer! What did she pay him for?! Even the seller’s agent considered requesting a change in representation because of the issues.
I have a great team already, but if a client requests to work with this firm, I would have to advise them against it. This was a cash deal and should have been a breeze but his office made it nothing but hassles!

Erik’s negotiation skills flat-​out saved the day for us in a tough short sell of our Hyde Park/​Kenwood condo. Our lender, which we learned has a well-​earned reputation for playing hardball in these situations, repeatedly made frightening financial demands of us at various points in the process. Though I went through a divorce while all of this was happening and was laid off of my job, the lender would not relent. But in the end, Erik brought his own personal conviction to bear. He believed the extenuating circumstances had to be recognized even by this lender and he would not stop the fight. Incredibly, he got us a full and complete release without our having to pay one dime. If you haven’t worked before with Erik, be sure you do the next time you are in need of legal services for real estate.

I’ve been a real estate broker since 2007 and have been involved with many transactions with many lawyers and I will have to say that Erik is the best I’ve seen.
I have closed over thirty transaction where he was the lawyer on the transaction I have to say his knowledge, professionalism, and his ability to achieve the desired results for his clients are great. He has a great assistant who gets things done. Erik is also amazing at short sales.

Erik was incredibly knowledgeable and professional throughout the entire process, and was able to get me out of my lease within a month of our first conversation.
