Platform Coworking

I was looking for a space to work from while in the Northside of Chicago… Platform was awesome… very responsive to immediate needs or issues and made you feel welcome. The space is clean, modern, and everything works… unlike some of those other coworking spaces. I would highly recommend them!

I use Platform co-​working a few times per week. I’ve found it to be great and very helpful when it comes to ensuring I focus on work. At home, there are a million distractions.
The office space is clean and modern. I use a flex desk which is fine for my needs. The only concern I’ve ever had is that if you’re not here earlier in the morning — and you need a dual-​monitor desk — they fill up fast.
I’ve found the people that share the space are very nice. A few tend to get loud on the phone at times, but no worse than if I were to work at a Starbucks. There are private phone areas as well — so most people use those.
The staff is very quick to reply and friendly. I deal with Melissa the most and have found her professional and pleasant.
The internet has been slow a few times (as stated below), but I think that’s more of an issue with the provider versus this location. In any event, when this happens the problem is always addressed quickly.
If you need a break from working at home, I’d suggest trying this out. Co-​working spaces/​office sharing helped me put more structure around my work day. And made me more productive. Can’t complain on that.

I usually live and work in Portland, but I spent several months in Chicago, and I found Platform the perfect place to set up a remote office. I had a reserved desk at the monthly rate, and the location was convenient, quiet and friendly without being intrusive. All the resources I needed were close by, and the proximity of the Brown Line and the Montrose bus made it easy to get around.

I recently started a new work-​from-​home job, and I was intrigued by Platform Coworking’s sign by the Montrose Brown Line. The idea of paying for a place to sit when I have a desk at home with my own wifi and fully stocked fridge sounded like an unnecessary expense at first. I scheduled a tour with Melissa to see what all the hype was. And I love it!
Platform Coworking’s service is simple: they offer a place to work. The perks of this workspace are fantastic though! The wifi is strong, there are different desk space options, the lighting and temperature are great, there are conference rooms and small phone booths for quick private calls, there’s a printer, the entire space is always sparkling clean, and there’s a kitchen with a coffee maker. Clients get ²⁴⁄₇ access, and there are plenty of coffee houses and restaurants nearby. It’s right by the L (Montrose brown) and CTA (78 Montrose, 50 Damen, 81 Lawrence) and Metra (Ravenswood). And there’s nearby parking (I don’t know if it’s permit though).
This space offers all the necessities for a productive work day for those of us who don’t have a dedicated office space. I have been incredibly productive on my days there. It is quiet, with respectful and friendly individuals of all different lines of work. People often bring in treats to share (just like a real office), and best of all is the support Melissa and Jeff offer.
Technical glitches are a part of any office. It’s how management handles issues that’s important. When there were some wifi outages the other day, I sent an email to management. I received a personal response within minutes. Within an hour Melissa and Jeff were both on site, working with a technician to solve the issue and make improvements to prevent it from happening again. Jeff even sent out an email apologizing and detailing exactly what happened. I feel like I’m in good hands!
If you’re looking for a place to work or study without coming home smelling like Starbucks, I highly recommend Platform Coworking.

Platform Coworking is an absolutely fantastic space, and a great value too. The building is clean and quiet, yet close to both Metra and the L. Plenty of open space for working, a good sized conference room, and several private phone booths for longer conversation. The wifi is great, and there’s more than enough power to go around.
I have quite simply nothing bad to say about Platform. I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve spent working there.

Just a quick review. I live in Denver and needed to find a quiet place in Ravenswood.
It worked out great as a landing spot over parts of 2 days, I’d definitely use it again.
It was just a little confusing getting signed up initially but all in all things were great.

I had a permanent desk at Platform for the last few months, and it was a great experience. Everyone there was friendly and the facilities themselves were nice, clean, and always stocked with fresh coffee. Unfortunately I have to move, and it is no longer convenient to work from here.
This was a nice breath of fresh air from some of the more crowded, loud coworking spaces (1871, eg.) If you’re a startup looking for an active, vibrant startup scene, this is probably not the place. But if you’re a professional looking for a quiet place to get work done, or an independent consultant, this is great.
Melissa (ops manager) and Jeff (owner) are friendly and very responsive to the needs of the people working there. When a printer wasn’t working properly and I had a presentation in the morning, Melissa, the operations manager, offered kindly to drive to their other facility nearby to print the document out for me — and then fixed the issue soon thereafter. I was impressed.
I’d recommend this to others who are looking for a quiet, clean coworking space to get things done, particularly if you are in the Ravenswood /​Lincoln Square area. It’s right off the Brown line too, which is awesome.

I checkout out Platform Coworking after finding it on a work space sharing site. I was taking an online class and needed access to a good network and a phone line for a couple of days. I didn’t have a phone at the time. After looking online and reviewing a few different options, this site was the only one that had what I needed (specifically the phone).
As for the location, it is good. Easy parking in the area and not far from the Montrose Brown Line stop.

I want to further address my 3 star review, just to be clear. Platform co-​working was a great space. The people there seemed really nice! That being said, however, I didn’t end up renting out a space with Platform. The smaller spaces were booked up and the large space that I was looking at was pretty pricey for my needs. Since I needed a phone I priced out this place vs. how much it would cost to go through the phone company vs. how easy it would be to use Google Voice. Platform ended up to be much more expensive than both. I opted for Google Voice.
Beyond that the other thing that I had hoped would be better were the hours. This place closes to those without the key code pretty early. And, while that is OK for working individuals, it isn’t for students. Seeing that their location has a lack of coffee shops and library’s, I would have expected them to take advantage of their space.
