Cozy, hip place in downtown Chula Vista. Once inside, you feel like you are in downtown San Diego. The decoration is very trendy and original. They definitely need to replace the salt and pepper shakers, they are so out of place. At first glance the menu is pricy but most of the dishes are meant for sharing. My husband and I ordered the tacos al pastor and the meat was delicious. Our tacos came out so tasty. The service was great; prompt and friendly. This is great place for a date or for a group of friends to enjoy after work. Oh and the music selection was good. I would only recommend a bit more variety in the menu.

Woah! This place is so rad. Everything we had was delicious, and while we ordered a lot! We easily could have ordered one of the shared entrees like the pastor trombo(amazing). Our waitress was a delight and took great care of us and our 3 year old. You’d think its a bit too upscale for kids but they accommodated us just the same, crayons and kids cups too. If you have even a semblance of interest in trying something new, go here now!

Tortilla soup was ok at best? Tastes like Campbells with toppings idk, man a little over priced at $ 8. Pastor Trompo tacos were good but maybe $ 9 over the price I would normally pay for this quality. Overall okay, probably wont return.

I don’t even know where to start, so I’ll start with the food, the food was amazing and a little different. They’ve put their own twist on traditional plates and they’ve nailed it. The service was superb! The place is very well decorated and unique. And on the night that we went they weren’t busy. I can’t wait to go again and again to try all their plates. Thank you for such a nice experience.

Food was ok, we were there for LUNCH(2), had a couple beers, 2 orders of empanadas a salad and a tinny dessert to celebrate her birthday. For a humongous bill! Never in my mind expected to pay so much for lunch $ 77! Can’t imagine dinner. … No thank you! Server was nice, but I don’t see my self coming back.

Downtown Chula Vista needs more places like this. My wife and I stopped by after visiting Harper’s Music for musical«stuff» for the kids. We found 277 C. via the coupon book we normally get in the mail. The locale is of course street side, very small and cozy, and as others have alluded to, decorated in a very trendy and conversationalist style. The restaurant is ALMOST out of place — I noticed several clientele pausing outside to look at the menu, and then walking on. A shame, as they are missing out on a good food ride in downtown CV. The food is very well prepared and presented. At first glance, the prices are close to what I expect for the elaborate taste sensations that 277 has prepared. However — taken in the context of the rest of the businesses in downtown, 277 C. does run the upper edge of what it seeks to deliver, so I could see where one could consider the menu a bit on the high side. We ordered the Rockefeller Oysters(as we are a fan of this sort of preparation on these shellfish), and enjoyed the chipotle twist. While very good, to nitpick, I would say the spinach was a bit over done and prominent; scaling back a bit on those leaves and adding a bit more of the fusion flair will do the dish wonders. Wife also had a bowl of the Xochitl Soup. Again, very good, if a bit unremarkable. A little hint of spice would have gone a long way to accentuate an otherwise very good soup. But then we were recommended the Tacos al Pastor. OMG. This is the assembly of pork on a spit that you see on the pictures. The pork is perfectly seasoned, and the pineapple and onion also grilled within are wonderful accompaniments — the sweet of the pineapple and the sharpness of the onion well balance the building of the tacos. So you slice what you want onto a flour tortilla, garnish it with a large plate of goodies they bring to your table, flavor it to your liking — and EAT. I am not a fan of building my food at the table(fajitas, burgers, or even the«grill the steak yourself» places), but absolutely enjoyed savoring the labor I did working that«trompo». The wine selection is very good, although a bit protracted, but I would expect that — given the size of the joint. Any place that chooses good wine that compliments their food(the tempranillo I had was wonderful) and presents a nice list to the food-goer is doing well in my book. We’ll be back — I’m sure the kids are going to need something at the music store real soon. Well done.

The food here is great! The service was amazing. You have to try to the pastor and the empanadas. The restaurant is also very nice. I loved the decoration. But the whole meal was delicious and I’ll be coming back!

I noticed this place as I was taking a walk down 3rd. Avenue. Tonight, my wife and I decided to go in for dinner. We were taken by the décor as soon as we walked in. The boulder counter give the place a rustic feel. The food did not disappoint either. We had the Grilled Panella and the Chili stuffed with shrimp. Both dishes were accompanied by flavorful sauces. The service is delightful as well. We love near by and an to frequent this establishment with friends in the future Downtown needs more places like this!

Not impressed. The food was just ok. We had chile en nogada and tacos de adobada the tacos were cold. The ambiance is attractive, but the plastic salt pepper shakers do not do justice to the rest of the place. We had to ask for out water cups to be refilled more than once and one of the plates was dirty. The crayon jug was sticky and dirty, I wouldn’t want my kids touching it. I also understand things do get dirty, but the place was empty with only two customers. I’m very disappointed, since I was hoping for a cool, hip place in old Chula Vista. I’ll be on the hunt

Duck taco, si!!! Duck burrito??? Four tiny rounds of yumshisness!!! We should have ordered a second round. Next time it’ll be a double order. The tuna tartare was excellent. A bit too much of a kick for me, but I’m such a spicy wimp. It was plentiful. The crispy tortillas were flavorless and not needed, IMHO. That was enough to fill me. No beef empanadas this evening, so spinach it was. I’m not an empanada fan, really, but these were good. The chimichurri was very flavorful. Yes, it’s a bit expensive… But, I’ll gladly pay for my taste buds to do the happy dance!!!

I had been waiting to check this place out and I was not disappointed. It’s a small quiet little restaurant when you walk in and it almost feels as if you’re entering someone’s home. The décor is very cute a little industrial mixed with a little modern. They do keep it quite dim but, it’s all part of the ambiance they are trying to provide. The servers were very friendly and the chef was out mingling with guests which was great to see. To start we ordered the tuna tartar. It was beautifully plated and the portion was perfect to share. It had the perfect blend of flavor. The tuna tasted fresh, the herbs gave it some crunch and it had a kick to it with some finely diced habanero. It also had some little balsamic oil beads that gave a little burst of sweetness. For my main course I ordered the skirt steak portobello trompo with Swiss cheese. It is 24.99 but, it’s definitely a dish to share. My meat was cooked to perfection and the Swiss cheese and portobellos gave it some nice texture to put into my tacos. It comes along with a sauce the chef makes with juice of the portobello, wine, oil and vinegar that war delicious the chef explained how he makes it and it pairs perfectly with the steak. There is a good selection of wines from the Baka region and some Spanish wines as well. Too bad I drank too much the night before or I would have tried one of the wines on the list. The only suggestion I would probably make was to have a little more variety of food. The majority are tacos so there are few choices. They aren’t your typical tacos though which makes it a little step above the rest. Definitely going back to try some other things on the menu.

Food was good, décor was nice, but prices were ridiculously high. Ordered the shrimp ceviche, waited about 20 minutes. What I got looked like 2 mini crackers. At first I thought they gave me the wrong order, but unfortunately they did not. I finished my meal in 2 bites. Oh yea it was $ 14 too.

Delicious!!! My wife and I decided to try this place for lunch about a week ago and we’re very impressed with the service, great atmosphere and the food was delicious. We shared two appetizers an entire and a dessert and each plate had the presentation to fit the taste. The owner/chef came to our table to introduce himself and make sure we had we had a great experience. Can’t wait to visit this place again.

I had an amazing lunch here – tuna tartare(excellent – as good as Muelle 3) and then an incredible mixed grill with pulpo, carne asada, pollo, corn and peppers with homemade fresh corn tortillas. Crème brûlée topped it off. Very cool vibe and a super cool restaurant. Glad it is close by –can’t wait to take my family there.
