If I could give this place negative stars I would. The 2nd to the last time I gave this place my business they gave me a coffee that was undrinkable. I was halfway home before I tried it(never do that again) so I didn’t take it back right away. I did save the entire thing and took it back wanting another coffee. Not a refund, just another coffee and the manager refused. I told her that my wife and I just moved to this area and we would not be coming back in if they did not simply replace my coffee and still she refused. Recently we had family in town and before I could warn them, they stopped off here for coffee. The coffee that they brought home was again, undrinkable. I didn’t even bother trying to take it back again. Do yourself a favor and save your money. You would be better off scraping sludge off of the street than wasting 1 cent at this place.

This place is the Starbucks of Mexico. If you’re a fan of Mexican chocolate, their Mexican Mocha is great hot or blended. Super convenient for me cause it’s across the street, but there’s usually parking in front also.

One order– chai tea blended please Somehow their chai is always so much yummier than Starbucks. Their furniture is a lil hard on the arse tho.

Ended up here for a late lunch by default — due to Valentino’s next door, not opening until 2pm. Who would have thought you could get a pretty tasty bagel sandwich(no skimping on the filling here) at a coffee/smoothie shop. Ordered 3 bagel sandwiches and we all agreed they were good. The niece and nephew really like the smoothies and the 12 year old tells me this is the place to go after school except that the service can be a little slow… well they were training someone today but she apologized for the slight delay. Felt like I was getting good fresh ingredients at a decent price… so this place isn’t really comparable to a starbucks as the food selection here is much better.

*I am reviewing the location on 3rd Ave near F street, next to 24 hour Fitness* It’s nice to have a Starbucks alternative in downtown CV. The shop itself is on the good side of average — good drinks, clean, good service, comfy seating. And it has it’s own touch of that unique, Chula Vista charm. I’m talking about Hot Pockets in the bake case. Oh yeah! Free parking deck nearby and an easy walk from any main street 3rd Ave businesses.

If you are tired of Starbucks, this is a nice alternative. It’s a little too modern inside for my taste, I like my coffee house furniture a little more comfy, and the lighting is pretty bright. They have a nice outdoor space to meet friends or have a quick business meeting, but it’s pretty sterile. I have never been to the ones in TJ, not going to, so cannot give any comparisons to that. Again, a nice alternative to Starbucks.

I work out of my car, so I find myself often in coffee shops for work. What I love about the D’Volada Café, is that it is clean, roomy, comfortable, and the background noise level is not too loud, and not too soft. Of course, the Mango smoothie they have is the best! A very welcoming atmosphere…

I created a Unilocal account for this review. Believe me when I say that the two stars are only deserved by the café’s cleanliness. Being that it is a café, I am weighing the coffee itself the heaviest. This was the WORST Americano I have ever had. Hands down, the worst. It was 90% water and the coffee itself was bland. So much for my hopes to support a local café…

I am a coffee junkie– & not just regular coffee but chai’s, lattes, mochas, specialty super caffeinated/sweet espresso drinks, oh man do I L O V E. Having tried D’Volada in Mexico(where it orginated) I was unsure of giving it a try here since I was not pleased with their drinks BUT being the coffee drinker, I did. I have been here numerous amount of times and the drinks are mediocre and the service is same. I only come here because it is very close to my where I live(&work). I know when I need a drink I am sticking to iced black coffee, you really cant go wrong there right?

I am not really a coffee shop kinda girl(or smoothie either) but every once in awhile I like a nice cuppa(tea) or my secret vice — a big tall mexican hot chocolate with tons of whip cream, drizzle of syrup and powdered chocolate to top it off(oh jeez makes me want to run back up there and get another). I live just up the road from this place and keep coming back. They originally got my business by default since I hate Starbucks but I am very happy that I gave them the chance. Positives: Great selection of coffee, teas, smoothies and so on. Fresh bakery items(muffins are pretty big). Nice selection and variety of seating areas. Good service Negatives: Parking is limited so be prepared to make a u-turn or two in your search. It can get pretty busy and it is small but I have always been able to get a seat. So overall I dont get here often but every-time I go I am happy, wether it be tea, a smoothie or my favorite hot chocolate. Give them a shot instead of heading out to Starbucks.

I was beat as a mutha on Sunday after a long night in LA. My friend and I just had some phở down Telegraph and ended up chillin’ out at his pad right across the street from this place. My plan was to hit up a Starbucks down the road on Otay Lakes but my friend recommended this spot. I needed a caffeine fix so we decided to walk across and I ordered a large iced Americano with no cream or sugar, just straight black coffee(I like it this way: P). Service was quite quick. I also got a tiramisu cake as I had a sweet too. It was kinda a skimpy small slice but its all good, less calories and sugar for my gut: P It seems this spot is quite laid-back compared to your typical Starbucks but with the same feel. The ambiance here is pretty cool too and is located right inside a residential neighborhood so its a lot more mellow and you can definitely study here without the crowd and noise of Starbizzle :)

For those of us who are in SA meetings, that’s Starbucks Anonymous, I recommend this little known place in Eastlake. Truly the«Mexican-Starbucks» this franchise is fast in growing both in Mexico and now in San Diego. Four store by the end of this year and they are even in Los Angeles now. This place has what Starbucks was to stupid to never offer — FREEWI-FI. The drinks are fantastic, and their menu far out-numbers what Starbucks has. service is friendly, and the environment is sterile, but good for doing some work. you get a Starbucks feel without actually conforming to the norm, just don’t let anyone know that this is the Mexican Equivalent to the big SB.
