La Quinta Inn Cocoa Beach-Port Canaveral

The staff was wonderful and accommodating! The breakfast lady was very attentive to her job and the two desk people on the 19^th of april were very gracious!!! The rooms were clean and pool was great. A short walk to beach!

This hotel was at first glance newly remodeled and looked very clean. We only needed an economical room to stay in until our cruise. As soon as we walked in and flipped on the light a huge cockroach went scampering across the coffee pot and ran and hid behind the refrigerator! We slowly opened the frig and a bug «casing» was on the top of the door! So naturally I’m like «oh hell no!» I wasn’t about to bring my belongings in here so what? So I could bring cockroaches home? I then did my routine inspection of the folds of the mattress to check for bed bugs and I’m not sure what this was in the folds but it looked like at one time they might have had a bed bug problem regardless it was disgusting! We immediately went to the from desk and asked for our money back. The front desk clerk tried to tell us that the stains in the fold of the mattress was rust from the frame… yeah right! It’s a cheap pillow top mattress so it would never be on a frame face down. They had box frames so that mattress would have never been on a frame alone. Needless to say they refunded us our money and we went to the Radisson! Boy what a difference! This place is awesome! I wouldn’t stay at that hotel unless you want to take bugs home with you and infest your home. Stay clear of this dump.

The rooms are updated and clean for the most part that’s a plus. Breakfast is okay, nothing fancy but a plus. Get there early because the hot food (fake eggs and questionable meats) are gone.
On the negative Christopher at the front desk was ride and demeaning. I arrived at the hotel before my friend whom I was sharing accommodations with. They needed a card to «preauthorize» a charge to et into the room. I was a little skeptical of this, because while traveling dealing with «holds» etc is a pain in the butt. I got one credit card purely for travel and all of the «holds» so I wanted to make sure to not be charged more than planned.
After speaking with my friend about everything we decided I’ll be charged for one day and she’ll be charged for another day; during our two day stay. At check out she was charged for two days and I was charged for one day.
So we went in to inform Christopher of this and he denied this was happening. He mentioned I’m not being charged because my card was denied. It was denied because between the stay I was being charged, my rental car hold and travel expenses I had 0 money on the card – which was intentional. Thank God I only had a small 300.00 card otherwise I would’ve been charged for two nights, because one went through and I was being charged for the other.
The disturbance of all of this is (1) Christopher kept saying he explained everything «clearly». Yet if he did this (1) she and I (I travel all the time; she doesn’t) would not be confused. (2) I wouldn’t have been charged for one day – as my card is stating and he is saying I am not being charged. (3) If someone is telling you you are not being charged, yet you are being charged as your card states and they are saying it’s clear that you are not being charged – would you be confused? Again I cannot begin to explain how rude this guy was. Instead of trying to understand that I indeed was being charged he just kept insisting I wasn’t which is saying in so many words I was lying.
All of my other «holds» and «preauthorizations» have been removed from the trip, but not this one! I travel at minimum for leisure once a month and I can’t tell you how much this makes me want to not consider laquinta as a lodging option.
So now I’m in the middle of disputing a charge.

Great hotel and stay. Very nice staff working front desk, clean grounds, very nice rooms, probably the best pool and temperature we’ve ever swam in. Not a single complaint about our time there.

At first view, I thought for sure we had been had. However, I stepped in the door of my room and was thrilled! I was very impressed! The room looked brand new and everything was clean. The Free wifi worked great! Everything was perfect in the room.

The breakfast is likely satisfactory for anyone who is a bagel, toast fan. I however, am GF so I was limited to eggs and sausage. At least it was good! The serving staff was incredibly helpful.
The desk staff was amazing! Every single one of them were so ice and helpful and led you where you might wish to visit.
Spoke personally to the head of housekeeping and make special accommodations for us as to a specific time to clean our room, which was way above my expectations.
The beach is two blocks away. Easy walk!
Would definitely stay there again!

OK hotel for the weekend. They allow pets, so the whole pace smells like dog. The free breakfast will make you sick. Internet was off and on the whole time. But if you don’t need internet or breakfast and you like dog smell, this is otherwise a good place. The rooms are fine. They have a good pool and patio. There is an asian restaurant attached, also a lounge and a bar called Time Out that is the place to be on Thursday nights. Not for me. But an OK place if you just want to hang out and party Thrusday to Sunday.

Upon first glacé I wasnt sure we had the right place. The front view of the property is less than desired but when we walked into our room we were pleased. As a former hotel maid I tend to be overly critical of how clean a room is but I couldnt find anything out of place. The room smelled fresh, which can be rare in a beach motel. After durther investigation I was actually really impressed; the room was spotless. Including the matress, bathroom, and even the microwave. The tv was a smart tv that included a wireless keyboard and cable tv with hd channels. Free wifi was also included. The water in the shower got nice and hot and had adequate water pressure.
The pool was also very clean and the grounds appeared to be well maintained. The. complementary breakfast was also adequate; it included waffles, fresh fruit, bagles, donuts, yogurt, toast, sausage… etc. A variety of hot teas, juices, hot chocolate, and coffee were also available
The property is located across the street from the beach –easily within walking distance. There is a discount beach store next to the motel so you can get towels, sunscreen, bathing suites, etc. Room service is available but over priced however there is also a thai/​sushi restaurant on the property that was pretty good albeit pricey.
All in all a nice place to stay if your not looking for anything over the top.

The place has a nice set up for a historic building that has been upgraded. The pool was very nice and clean. The rooms was updated very nicely. The breakfast was good and the employees were friendly. Overall it was a great value and I would highly recommend.

Went back home to Orlando to visit my family and we decided to stay at Cocoa for a night. We chose La Quinta because we were on a budget and just wanted some time at the beach mostly. The staff was excellent! I find customer service goes a long way. Our key card wasn’t working because our key-​reader on the door was out of batteries, I was about to go back to the lobby to tell them but someone from the maid service saw and said, «Oh, that is so inconvenient! Let me call that in for you.» :) It took 2 minutes tops and we were in our room.
The next day were were ready to check out of the hotel at 11:00 but wanted to stay and enjoy the beach. I asked if we could leave our car parked in the parking lot or if we had to move it, the woman at the front desk said, «Certainly, leave your car there, enjoy the beach and lay by the pool. Have a great time!» Awesome!
The breakfast wasn’t so great, but you can’t expect much from complimentary breakfast. I’d rather have a free mediocre breakfast than no breakfast or have to go hunt down a Starbucks.
I’d be happy to stay here again the next time I’m in town.

Our stay was fine. Older property, but rooms are renovated and clean. Mini fridge, micro, and coffee maker. On property Thai-​sushi restaurant was very good. Sports bar for drinks, darts, pool, inside outside seating was very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was standard fair. Swimming pool area is spacious with entertainment in afternoon. Looked very relaxing. They do well for a three star property. Would stay again.

My wife and I stayed here during my spring break time off last week. La Quintas are all pet friendly with NO PET FEES! And since this was our first stay with one, I wasnt sure how nice it would really be, but it was very clean and very convenient for us and our two dogs. This place was a close walk to the beach and close to most shopping. The breakfast was actually really good and they had hot waffles and fresh fruit. Well be checking for La Quintas at our next destinations

Room is clean. Bathroom is clean too. Surprised that the room has microwave and fridge. Exceptionally pleased that there are so many channels on TV. Free breakfast is awesome. But best is service. Staff is friendly, especially the general manager, Trevor Echerd. For the price we paid, this is surely a good deal! We’ll definitely come back.

I booked this room for me and my mom using her AARP discount and you really can’t beat $ 65 for one night. We chose this hotel for the price and location to the Disney Cruise terminal. Check in was easy and our room was clean and everything worked fine. We weren’t expecting the best of the best, and we were comfortable and slept well. The free wi-​fi worked great once we were logged in. And the pool looked nice, but we had no time to use it. The woman at the front desk gave us a great recommendation for dinner (this was after we asked where she would choose to eat, not some big tourist trap).
The next morning, there were plenty of options for breakfast and checking out was quick. If I’m ever in the area again, I would stay here!

Great hotel. I was there for a weekend trip back in November. The only thing is that there is a lot of nasty Mosquitos or something else that kept attacking me. It might of been my California vibe going off. Haha. It’s clean, the breakfast is decent, and it’s near the beaches and other stuff.

Stayed here a few nights while visiting the Space Center with some friends. The rooms were standard issue motel rooms with the car directly outside. It was fairly quiet at night. We were on the back and the wifi reached us just fine. The breakfast area was stocked with hot and cold choices. Plenty of coffee going around.
The staff at the front desk were friendly and stuck in there with our large group (18 people).
It was easy to get back out into traffic since there was a light right at the hotel.
Stay here again when over that way, sure.

Do not confuse this hotel with the other highly rated La Quinta in town. In comparison, this one is less than so-​so. It has an astronaut history but this does not help. The rooms are fungus and mold rotten and in dear need of total renovation. Not recommended.

The overall 2 ½ star rating for this location seems a little low to me. As someone who grew up in the area, I think people may have had unreasonable expectations for Cocoa Beach in general, which may have been reflected in their reviews.
Let me start by saying Cocoa Beach is not on par with other popular beach vacation destinations like Hawaii, The Caribbean, or even the greater Miami area. It’s a small working class beach town, with a beach and not a whole lot else. The Hotels in the area (even the one’s that claim to be resorts) are not (for the most part) the 4 and 5 star luxury beachfront resorts you might expect or be accustom to.
That being said, If your looking for the basics like a cozy bed, standard shower/​bath, Internet connection, and free basic breakfast, this La Quinta will do just fine. This isn’t the place your going to want to spend your honeymoon or anything like that, but it’s extremely affordable and right across the street from the beach. If you go into it with reasonable expectations, you’ll probably be satisfied.

For what you get in Cocoa Beach, La Quinta is fine. Understand that if this was a factory town, the factory would have been closed a while ago. Yeah. Dead. Before I went I was stressing about finding a really good hotel. A colleague of mine who comes from Cocoa Beach dashed my hopes. It’s the kind of place where the residents either stay for their whole lives, and keep hoping to get out, or leave and never come back to even to visit. Pretty in spots, but … cheap as a plastic pool toys.
That being the case, the accommodations were fine for a night’ while you waited to board your cruise. Tubs are small. They are also small at the hotel right across the street: The International Palms. How to explain this? Imagine you spend lots of money muscling up your Honda, then your neighbor buys a Bugatti Veyron. I would like to say the beds are comfortable, but after a night of pre-​cruise debauchery, I couldn’t even be bother with getting under the covers.

If Unilocal would allow ½ stars, I’d give this place 3.5. I needed a hotel in the Coco Beach /​Cape Canaveral area, I was planning to arrive late and depart early the next morning so I didn’t need anything fancy. I booked this place using Priceline for $ 49 per night. After Priceline assigned this property to me, I read some reviews on other sites and also saw Tyrone’s review here and was expecting the worst. I was pleasantly surprised!
This hotel is an older property, that’s for certain, as it was originally owned by 7 Mercury astronauts according to the literature in the room. However, a few coats of paint can make all the difference in the world, and this place appears to be newly renovated, inside and out.
This is a traditional motel (motor/​hotel), where you pull into the parking lot, go into the lobby and get checked in, then get back into your vehicle and drive to the the section of the 2 storey motel building where your room is located. One of the first things I noticed was that there are no elevators at all at this property, so if you’re staying on the second floor, prepare to lug your bags up a flight of stairs. Aside from that, there are really no complaints at all about this motel.
Everything appears to be freshly painted with a modern color scheme, there were no areas that looked to be in disrepair or needing attention that I saw, and everything in the room was in «like new» condition (bedding, carpeting, granite and tile, furniture, TV and appliances, artwork, etc.). Each room features free wi-​fi which was very fast, a microwave and small refrigerator, a 32″ flat screen TV with a game controller for playing video games, and a coffee maker with regular and decaf coffees. In addition to the usual amenities in the bathroom, there was a «Spring Break 2011 Survival Pack» which included a bunch of packets of Crest toothpaste, Stride gum, Fructis shampoo, a Bic razor, and Dove body mist.
Other amenities at this place include an attached surf shop (one of the largest surf shops on N. Atlantic Ave.), a Japanese and Thai restaurant, a sports bar which is located partially outdoors on the 2^nd floor of the lobby, and 2 bars near the pool in the central courtyard between the surrounding motel rooms. They also have soda and snack vending machines and coin operated laundry. They advertise a free breakfast which appears to be a small step above a contenental breakfast, and complimentary access to a «21,000 square foot health and fitness facility next door», but I never got to take advantage of either.
In the end, I got a great room at a newly renovated property for a great price. The normal price on La Quinta’s website and on Expedia was $ 99 /​night, and to be honest, even though that’s twice as much as I paid, I still think it’d be worth it. Note that all rooms are non-​smoking which is also a bonus!
