Galaxy Tea House

If I could rate higher just for décor, I would. I’m one of those people who are easily impressed by the aesthetic of things. While it looks hodgepodged together, the ambiance here is very kitschy and cute. There’s galaxy wallpaper, fish ponds under the Japanese style seating, and a cool light fixture that hangs from above. However, the chairs were made by the owners, quite obviously. The wallpaper is peeling up. But a solid A+ for effort.
The tea and customer service, however…
We walked in and three of the staff were at the counter. They stared at us for about 20 seconds like we were the scum of the earth before considering taking our order. When one of the girls working finished making the first order, she slammed it down onto the counter and yelled a name, walking away. When we sat down, we discussed if we were all imagining things or if they were really so aggressive and mean to customers. It seemed as if we were bothering them by ordering drinks. We kept getting stares from them like our questions were dumb and like we were awful for even being there.
We ordered a milk tea, and it was extremely good. Great flavor and smoothness. However, the strawberry ice blend tasted like Nesquik had been added. We could barely swallow it! It was the most chemical, foul tasting drink I’ve ever had. I’m not sure what happened here. We really didn’t expect to find fantastic Bubble Tea in College Station, of all places, but the owners here really need to get better staff and put more effort into the recipes of their tea. I wouldn’t even come back here for the milk tea under desperate circumstances, considering its just not worth the rudeness and effort of guessing which drinks are worthwhile.

Not happy at all with our experience. Went in and ordered one strawberry banana smoothie with the bubbles for our daughter. After a long wait received a strawberry milk tea. When we explained to them we wanted a smoothie the lady says «oh this happens all the time» I asked her how come they don’t clarify then before placing the order. She rudely came back and said «there is clarification» and pointed at the menu above her. After another long wait for them to remake what we ordered it came out DISGUSTING. Worst smoothie I’ve ever had! Near environment, but that’s all they have going for them.

Not a good experience at all. They were out of several things on the menu, they even admitted that the batch of tapioca they had just made was bad but served it anyways, and the drink was not really good:/ I hope it improves because I’d love to have a good boba place around

This was a very cozy place with excellent tea.
I really like how the owner tried to blend Asian culture with a relaxing environment that is similar to a coffee house.
I highly recommend and will definitely be back.

The place had a lot of great ideas to but it fails in execution of those ideas. The space wall art is nice to look at but nothing else in the tea room matches it. That didn’t bother me as much as the unsafe furniture, particularly the barstools and window bar thing. The stools are home made and incredibly wobbly and the window bar has labels that say ‘do not exceed 12 pounds’ so they could easily get pulled from the wall. A lot of the furniture still had price tags from whichever lumber yard the wood came from.
The fish tanks under the larger seating areas are also very questionable. I really wanted to rescue those poor fish because the pond area was too shallow and the fish didn’t have any hiding spots. The tops of the fish were poking out of the water and one of the tanks had trash in it. I’m not sure how the tanks are up to code because you could easily drop something in. When we went the cushions were wet from falling in which was freaking gross.
The bathrooms are dimly lit so make sure you bring a flashlight in order to see. The women’s rest room is a mess in terms of decorations. The men’s room is decorated like the rest of the restaurant.
The tea is also sub-​par and I’d only recommend coffee drinks and even then be careful. The ice to drink ratio is skewed so you end up paying for mainly ice. Do not get any of the flavored milk teas because they are gross and obviously from a mix. One of the people I went with got the avocado tea and it tasted like soap. I got a Thai tea and it tasted like regular milk tea. The sizes are basically the same so don’t spend too much on the larger one.
The employees are very nice and helpful.

The worst bubble tea I have ever had. I ordered jackfruit tea, and it tasted like overly sweetened skim milk with probably 10 tapioca — not even enough to cover the bottom of the cup (I ordered small). The interior was interesting, but when I went there around 1pm, the AC is off, and I couldn’t stay in there for more than 5min.

This place is a 3 with the atmosphere of a 4 or 5. But we rate on product, right?
I ordered my standard taro milk tea with tapioca and my sister got Thai tea milk tea with tapioca. Mine was definitely the better of the two, but we weren’t disappointed with either. The big bummer was the tapioca balls themselves, which stuck together at the bottom of the cup and didn’t easily come up the straw.
Definitely an eclectic place. Eclectic as in weird. But I liked it.

I gottta give this place props for creating a unique atmosphere. Really like the fish, teddy bears, polaroids, etc. Unfortunately, their drinks aren’t very good. My first drink there was the Thai tea, which I found mediocre. My roommate got a raspberry slushie/​smoothie, which tasted artificial and syrupy, much like a freezepop. On my second trip I got the matcha milk tea, which tasted kind of powdery. They added way too much ice and I couldn’t even get the tapioca out of the cup or through the straw because my cup was so full of ice. Third trip I went with friends and asked for no ice. I think there was miscommunication somewhere because I ended up with ice in my drink again. I got the lychee milk tea and didn’t really form an opinion because by then I wasn’t expecting anything special or any improvements.
With that being said, the one thing about the drinks I do like is that their tapioca is cooked well despite them sticking together often. I had the misfortune of getting mushy tapioca a few times back home, didn’t like that at all.

I thought the selection of drinks were interesting, but I wished they had more hot teas though. The interior of the place was my favorite part. Very unusual, but awesome at the same time! The vibe was amazing and so was the «warnings».

I guess this is the best you can get in College Station. The environment is full of really cool ideas, but some of it is sort of impractical. The chairs are TINY, and the fishies are pretty awesome but where do I put my feet? Same with Toni Y., I judge my tapioca places on their original milk tea. I also asked if they just had milk tea, was met with some confusion, but was finally able to order it. I had the same question of why it wasn’t on the menu. Although I thought the server was pretty friendly, my friend was very frustrated with their service. Their conversation went something like this:
Friend: What’s in the fruit teas?
Server: …Fruit… and tea…
Friend: Um, could you elaborate a bit more?
Server: It’s tea with fruit.
My milk tea was not bad, and the tapioca balls were fine, but the second time I went, I couldn’t finish their fruit slush. Too much ice and it just tasted so artificial for me. I’ll be going back to see if they improve (which I hope they do!) but not frequently. They have potential.

Seriously? And I was like? LOL!
I give 5 stars as I do highly suggest that everyone look at this. While I have tried to edge off reviews that may be perceived by the weak to be mean spirited, this to me shows that ignorance perhaps due to lack of experience, creativity can be wild and broad.
The fish living under the two tables are healthy. Their environment is clean and they acted robust and I say that as a quite well experienced tropical fish breeder. The two tables over the open aquariums should be glass so you can watch the fish.
The drink quality was odd. I ordered a Cantelope tea with boba and while it had a lot, and they tasted so accurate that I could not finish half, the tea was in a sealed package from Thailand.
They do take credit cards now (see receipt) and they allow local food to be brought in with free wifi.
I can see this becoming so popular that there is no where to sit.
Go check it out while you can.

This place is so chill, and the tea tastes really good:) service is very good! The atmosphere is so calming great to study at.

I had always loved bubble tea and decide to give this place a shot with my wife. I read all the reviews and was very hesitant but we figured we could just go to Sweet Eugene’s to study if this place didn’t work.
I will say that the customer service was fantastic! I wasn’t sure what to think after everything I had read about the owner. The staff was very knowledgeable and described each drink in detail for me and what made it different from regular bubble tea. After ordering a drink I did not like, the manager suggested that he make another drink that I may like more. He seemed genuinely excited that we were even trying something new.
The drink was mediocre. I feel like it had too much ice and way too many tapioca balls. I would’ve ideally liked more milk tea in it; before I knew it, the drink was gone and I was left with a mountain of tapioca balls upholding a pile of ice.
The atmosphere seemed really neat at first but soon made a turn for a very impractical experience. There are only two larger tables so if you came to sprawl out your books/​papers, forget about it. These tables are oriental style, very close to the floor, forcing you to sit Indian style. What made it worse was the OPEN fish tank at your feet. If any electronics slipped you’d be in for trouble. I’m surprised this isn’t a health code violation… One other atmosphere problem I have was the lack of outlets. Don’t plan on bringing any laptops here (if the open fish tanks didn’t scare you from this).
All in all, we gave it a shot and it is highly unlikely that we will be going there anytime soon. Save yourself the experience and just go to Sweet Eugene’s or Mugwalls.

I was really excited to try some bubble tea in college station but this was a real let down. This isn’t a place I would recommend a friend for a bubble tea fix because it’s just not worth it.

I’m happy that there’s a shop dedicated to bubble tea. Yum! I’m not a bubble tea professional but I thought it was good and a fun atmosphere! And the owner was nice and so was the cashier. I will come back again. The ice chunks were large and next time I will ask for less ice but I had the Thai milk which was good and my husband had peach which tasted like peach.

I judge every boba place based on their original milk tea + tapioca. If you can’t get that right then…
First thing I noticed walking in (besides the huge dripping blue led light fixture) was that milk tea wasn’t even on the menu. Off to a bad start GBT. How can a place dedicated to boba not have an original milk tea selection?! When I inquired about this the cashier didn’t hesitate and said yes I could order a milk tea + tapioca. Great, but why isn’t it on the menu?
Drinks were made pretty fast, but that’s about all the good I can say. There were huge chunks of ice in my drink and I asked for half sweet but it was still pretty sugary. The tea itself was watered down and had a weird after taste. The tapioca was hard and getting harder by the second as it sat in its diluted icy milk tea bath.
This is my last semester in cs and I had a glimmer of hope that finally some good tap had come to town in the 8 years I’ve been here, butttt nope. I’ll just have to get my boba fix during weekend trips to htown.
The comfy couch and cute succulents are somewhat redeeming factors. But I can get those in my own living room.

This place just opened on 1/​15, and it still doesn’t have a sign, so it’s literally still just a hole in the wall. It’s still really empty right now as a result, but I can totally see the potential. They’re trying to emulate an internet café type of feel, with lots of space to hang out, space art on the walls, and gaming tournaments.
Beyond that, the Thai milk tea is pretty solid. The flavors are great (I got it less sweet and that was sufficient, even though I usually have a sweet tooth). The boba was a little hard, but I can excuse that since demand is so low right now.
Service is okay, the owner is still trying to push his business, so they’re offering pretty unique deals: free drinks M-​F 12−4pm if you hang out for an hour, and also 20% for a Facebook check in. I hope that he’ll also extend this deal to Unilocal though!
I can see this becoming a cool hangout place though! The drink that I had was promising enough. If he could get some board games in here and Wi-​Fi (not sure if they have either), I can see this filling an interesting niche in College Station! This location seems notoriously hard to thrive in though, so I’m interested in seeing how Galaxy fares here.

This place is open for business, but it is currently missing a sign so it may be a little tough to find (it’s next to the UPS store). The first thing you notice about the place is the vibe it gives off. I don’t like it. It’s got a Japanese feel to it, but mixed with some space themes. The place is dimly lit, with somewhat popular music in the background.
When you go to order, take these things into consideration:
— The «tea» is basically just flavored milk and water
— The «smoothie» is basically a crushed up freeze pop
— THEY DON’T HAVE TARO (for smoothies anyway), WTF?!
— The tapioca is boba (the good kind), but will freeze too much if you get it with a smoothie
— There are two sizes, but they are about the same. Get the cheaper option.
— Someone will ask you if you want less or extra sweet (yes, regular is still an option)
— No, the Japanese space café does not accept credit cards. Cash or debit only. (What year is this?)
I got the raspberry smoothie with tapioca. Both the texture and taste will bring back memories of those 10 cent freeze pops you can buy at HEB or Kroger. Certainly not worth $ 5. Those tapioca balls at the bottom, once frozen, suck.
If you’re here alone, you might go sit on a stool. Too bad those stools have seats that are absolutely undersized for adults, and quite possibly for small children as well. If you’re here with a group, you might try the Japanese style seating, featuring an open aquarium underneath the table! As cool as that sounds, that is a terrible idea, as you’re pretty likely to drop something and have it land in the water! Besides that, the size is again not adequate for an adult. Unless you’re on the smaller side and are able to fit your legs in the confined space, you’ll have to sit facing the outside and just turn your head. SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE. There are also regular tables, but SURPRISE, MORE TINY SEATS! They do have a few regular seats here, but not enough.
There’s also a couch situated in front of an HDTV and a PS4 with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and 2 controllers. Comfortably seats 2 or 3, but if you try hard enough, you can squeeze 4 people. They’ve also got some board games if you want to play, but they’re not so great.
The bathroom is very poorly lit, almost pitch black, which is a hella risky move for the men’s bathroom.
1/​5, did not enjoy the drink or the atmosphere.

Since 2007, I am a big fan of «boba tea» (aka «bubble tea» or «pearl tea», — with all different names for the tapioca balls).
Unfortunately, until now, none of the places in College Station-​Bryan area had real boba tea. Some places had (and still have) it on the menu, but none of those were really dedicated to it, and the quality was mediocre at best.
The most recent newcomer, Babilon Café, has some smoothies, but what they call «bubbles» is not real tapioca balls, but some fruity popping balls, like some ice-​cream places have.
So, in the absence of boba tea in BCS, we’ve been drinking it in Houston, Austin or Dallas (or outside of TX).
Galaxy Bubble Tea café has real boba (tapioca balls), and they have some real teas!
When we came here for the first time, you can tell that they were still in the process of setting things up: one guy was still putting the last touches on the wall with the «galactic» picture (or fixing it?). Also, it looks like they are still trying to figure out the workflow. We ordered three teas, and they were lost in the options that we ordered, making some mistakes at first, which they quickly fixed. I hope that they would figure out those quirks, and we’d be able to come here frequently without having to deal with the mix-​ups.
I am also looking forward to when they will have plenty of customers so that they brew boba more frequently (we came shortly after 5pm, and the boba was a bit old).
The place has a very nice décor. But some parts of it makes it not very practical. There is actually very little space to sit. I am not sure why: they don’t expect many people spending time here? I hope that they will figure it out quickly.
There are two tables that are set in the style of Japanese low tables. What is strange is that the space under the table (sort of a pit) has water and live fishes here, which is confusing.
All in all, this is a good start, and I am looking forward to this place becoming a prominent place for boba tea in CS.

There are fish tanks under your feet, patches of floor with pebbles, huge soft teddy bears to cuddle with, a tv with a ps4 hooked up so you can play games, blinking lights, board games/​cards, and of course bubble tea, smoothies, and the like.
The staff and owner are very friendly. There’s free wifi. Its a cute place to spend some time, study, whatever you want.
