Liberty Moving and Storage

David who came out to complete the home estimate was very informative and made me feel comfortable asking as many questions I had. Movers on moving day were professional and surprisingly quick (less than 3 hours). My delivery movers when out of state were on time and put everything into my storage unit efficiently and made it all fit so I didn’t need a larger space (less than one hour). The only thing I felt was the price was a bit steep. I didn’t have much stuff and no large furniture but was told there was a premium for moving out of NYC. One box was misplaced and I noticed it may have been missing but when it was found my driver, Gerald reached out to me and personally delivered it back. Overall very pleased with Liberty and would recommend.

This is our 3^rd move with Liberty in less than 3 years. They are always professional from start to finish. Their movers are courteous and thorough. We have a large armoire which could not fit through the bedroom door. They disassembled and reassembled it without any problem
I highly recommend Liberty to anyone who may be moving.

I am a experienced mover. i moved over a dozen times in my life and have had a variety of experiences, good and bad. I informed them that I wanted to go with a larger more reputable company and did NOT want to play any games.
I contacted them almost a month in advance and confirmed that I wanted to use them as my moving company. then radio silence. I called the sales guy and asked him if the 15^th was a definite date. he confirmed it was. I scheduled everything around this date.
Again never heard from them on confirming delivery dates or what time they were coming on the 15^th. Finally emailed them after several attempts at calling the coordinator. They finally got back to me and informed me they couldn’t come until the 17^th. Which at this point I was not able to accommodate due to all the other coordination details.
They started telling me how lucky I was that they could come on the 17^th and deliver the next day. They also told me it would be impossible for anyone else to do this since it was so close to the move date.
Basically they threaten to pickup my stuff on the 15^th and then not deliver it for 10 days since they give you a range for delivery and the max is 10.
So after i berated them on their incompetence and didn’t buy their lines about there was nothing they could do. I called another company and they were more than happy to pick up on the 15^th and deliver it the next day. FOR MUCH LESS BTW.
Then 1 hour later i get a call back from them saying they could pick up on the 15^th and deliver on the 16^th. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Obviously I said no since I don’t do business with liars.
Don’t use these guys, they play games and their promises don’t mean sh! t

We have used Liberty twice. A great choice. From start to finish working with these professionals has made our moves seamless. When we shopped for quotes others offered slightly lower rates but did not appear to offer he same level of service. For our recent move we shipped cross country. It was a pressureless experience. Our stuff arrived on a day with 104 degree temperatures. The crew was fantastic. They recycled the cartons, put everything together and were super professional and pleasant. We are very happy.

I have called this company several times due to their habitual calling my house. Told them to remove me from their call list. They still call. It’s hard to believe that they would think that NOT listening to a potential customer would persuade that person to use their service. But stupid is as stupid does. Wouldn’t trust them to deliver to the correct town let alone the correct house. The single star is due to Unilocal not allowing a no star or negative star.

Recently fulfilled a second corporate relocation using Liberty, and am moved to share a glowing review with fellow Unilocalers.
Thoroughly impressed with the guys’ white glove service, accountability and timeliness of fulfillment. Liberty is the real deal. (There’s context here, given my last move to the Midwest from NYC, using a different provider.)
Will absolutely, positively recommend Liberty to anyone I can, and will look forward to relying on the guys for my next move, whether it’s a corporate relocation, or a move within NYC.

I unfortunately used Liberty Moving to move a large $ 6000 piece of artwork last Spring. They claimed and charged for «white glove» service and I later came to find out it was moved and dropped (severely) by Fed Ex. Eight moths later I am still dealing with a circus of claims people who have never delivered on any promises nor money to repair the piece. If you care about your belongings or being treated fairly as a customer DO NOT USE LIBERTY MOVING!

I don’t usually review non-​food related places, but I made an exception for this company.
My parents and I were looking for a moving company. High school had just ended and I had to move to a new state so it was a very stressful time. Liberty helped alleviate the whole process. The original estimate that they gave was very accurate. There was no hidden costs or unfair pricing. We researched all of the horror stories about movers who would give fake estimates. Our move estimator was very professional.
As well as the pricing, we read about other companies that were late/​unprepared on the day of the move. On move day, the movers were on time and ready to work. They kept in touch regularly with all the information that we needed to know leading up to the day. The entire process was made easy with this company. I would definitely use Liberty again if I have to move in the future.

I Knew nothing about the company other than they were a franchise of a national name company. Did NY to SC move.
First off, our sales Agent Rich T. was 5 Stars. A Professional in every way from coming into give the on-​site quote to replying timely to emails I sent to even helping out when I had issues during the move. I came to Rich with lower quotes and he came back with «rebuttals» to each quote. I did my homework and what he told me was completely accurate (one company was under suspension, one was so small they did not have other trucks if they broke down, one was farming the order out and may not honor the date of delivery). The pick up guys where great. Came early and I was not ready so they waited without one word is annoyance. They were great with covering floors and were professional. I gave a decent tip but nothing crazy and they were very appreciative (heard multiple bad stories from other companies where they virtually demanded more tips). Came with 4 guys so the large studio was cleaned out in ~3 hours. Delivery was a but annoying. They the back office told me monday so I rearranged my schedule to accommodate. I get a call from the driver the next day they are coming Friday. Their truck breaks down and they have to push to Saturday. Not their fault, but annoying that the back office was so wrong and pushing my schedule around was a bit of a problem with my new job. The delivery was an hour late, but they ran straight from getting a new truck. They were professional in drop off and appear also appreciative of tip.
The move was well within the 2 week window they gave me.
My gripes are the back office messing up delivery date. I did a self pack but have moved numerous times. 3 glasses broke, but not a big deal. I was very annoyed that they broke the trim off a dresser and knew it an did not at least tell me (The piece was placed inside the dresser and then placed under the boxes they placed inside to save space on the truck). Stuff happens, but to not say anything especially after they broke it was a bad way to deal with a customer. Also, I was told by the drop off guys the insurance for replacement value did not cover items I packed so I needed to sign off on box delivery before they left as it would not matter if items I packed were broken.
I called Rich. He corrected and said their insurance would cover items I packed. I was not going to file a claim for $ 50 in glassware, but the dresser they packed. I started to file a claim, which Rich immediately got me in contact with their clams department who sent out the forms. Ultimately, I decided not to file as the damage was small enough that I had problems getting a carpenter to come out to give a quote on a likely $ 50 – 100 job.
The best part was I got a quote for my move that was binding as they did an on-​site inspection. Apparently, I put more items than anticipated into storage rather than ship them. When the final bill came in they had taken a couple hundred dollars off because my weight moved was way less. Definitely, a customer service move in terms of honesty that I really appreciated!
In summary, while my move was not perfect. It went well and I have heard so many horror stories I would definitely reach out the Rich again for my next move. And the honesty they had in lowering the final billed rate without my having to ask was nice goodwill and will be used to replace the glasses an fix the dresser and call it a day.

I moved with Liberty about a week ago. Even with my complicated situation, they made moving really easy — and let’s face the facts here, moving sucks. When I told the move estimator that I needed to move about ²⁄₃ of the belongings in my apartment into storage, and the rest to a seasonal rental he made taking inventory on his tablet and coordinating the logistics seem like a breeze. I have no doubt that when I move into a new apartment in the fall, I will have Liberty move everything again.
Pros: They can just come and pack everything for you. The driver and movers were super chill and didn’t ruin the carpet or break anything so i got my security deposit back :) The estimate was accurate.
Cons: Nothing i can think of.

I find it amusing that Mr. Federico write a response to my below review nearly TWO YEARS later after attempting to contact me via email and phone (in violation of Unilocal’s policy – Unilocal advised me to contact the authorities which I will need to do if he attempts to contact me again) leaving creepy messages about how if I didn’t take my review down he would be «forced to respond» and he «hated to do that.» (words to that effect.) He had never saw fit to contact me in 2012 when his company tried to pull a fast one. Apparently hassling writers of two year old reviews is an easier course of action than asking new customers to write positive reviews of his company.
He also refers to a review of his companies services that I wrote BEFORE I received a bill filled with trumped up charges (of which Mr. Federico did nothing about and never attempted to rectify until my employer threatened action). (Note to self: Don’t fill out a company survey until the entire transaction is completed!) The move itself went well which I clearly indicated in my review below. There was another negative review from Amy C. which was taken down the same time Mr. Federico was hassling me via phone and email. I stand by my review and Mr. Federico’s actions two years later merely confirm my opinion that doing business with his Liberty Moving was regrettable. I am convinced that when the nuclear holocaust happens the only things that will be left will be cockroaches, Cher, and Mr. Federico hassling the wrong person about how he and his company attempted to put one over on someone.

I will say that the laborers who handled the grunt work were good guys who got my things from point A to point B in one piece ahead of schedule no less. The problem is with the front office once the move was completed. I made it quite clear from the get-​go that my employer was covering the cost of the move and the move was capped at a certain price. I was given a fair estimate that was binding and that Rich Trachtenberg was «throwing in a few free wardrobe boxes.» A few days later I received a call that because there was a contract with my employer, the estimate would be different. I failed to read that it was unbinding. The adjusted estimate they did give me was even lower than the first. Fast forward to a month or so after the move and imagine my shock when I would find out that the cost of the move was nearly $ 1000.00 MORE than quoted to me (and I would be responsible for the amount over my employers cap)!!! Was this an estimate or a guestimate??? Oh, and I was charged for the wardrobe boxes that Rich told me he was throwing in for free (which he told me were they not free he’d recommend I buy them from Home Depot as they are much cheaper there). When I asked about that I was unapologetically informed that there are no free boxes with contract moves. I was also told that I had far more items than he had counted for the estimate. I guess if you count two small boxes from Fresh Direct has a substantial additional weight then I guess I’m guilty. Otherwise, I didn’t have much in my broom closet New York City apartment (futon, dresser, bed, etc). Hell, I was too busy packing up my belongings and looking for a new apartment in another state to have time for acquiring even more crap to pack. In fact, some of what I had I even gave away so I had LESS than what was there on the day he gave the guestimate. They also went to town packing items that I did not specifically ask them to pack. Rich kept reinforcing to me that I approached him «as an individual looking to move.» Yes Rich, I did and I also informed you that my employer was paying for the move of this individual up to a certain price so one has to question why I would purposely screw myself out of a binding contract, pay $ 50+ for boxes I was told would be free of charge, and receive thinly veiled email threats (including threatening a lawsuit for writing a negative review of your services) over a a couple of hundred dollars from you and your front office stooge. I should have known when I called a competitor and told them what Liberty quoted me. Their exact words were «it sounds like you are being low balled.» Ya think?
The only reason Liberty backed off of trying to get additional monies out of me was because my employer (a rather large company) got pissed about the trumped up delivery charges and is considering dropping the contact with United for such dishonest behavior. Get EVERYTHING in writing. Absolutely disappointing.
I worked with both Rabbit Movers in Brooklyn – they can do local moves (I highly recommend them!) and Arnoff in Albany (they area No. American agent and move people in NY, MA, CT, and FL) and both those moves were relatively stress free (minus the complaining workers who don’t like big cities) and without any unpleasant surprises.
