Matt Taylor – Intero Real Estate

When I asked around for recommendations of a good realtor, Matt’s name kept coming up. I took that as a sign that I should contact him. Boy, was that a right thing to do!
Matt, and his team (Rob Faris & Gloria Sokhn) are a class act. They managed the sale of my San Jose house with lots of care and precision as if it’s their own home they are selling. The end result far exceeded my expectation.
There is very little room for error in the process of the sale of a house. If you don’t get it right on the first showing, it’s hard to recover from that. And that’s why I am so glad I called Matt.
Not only is he a highly experienced and competent realtor, he is also extremely resourceful. The men he had worked on the house improvements (painting, repairs, etc.) did such a fine job; there is nothing I could fault. That’s rare. I was busy during that period and he supervised all the pre-​work that needed to be done and made excellent decisions on my behalf.
I couldn’t recognize the house after it was staged. It was that good! And Matt even bargained to lower the staging cost. Matt priced my house right, created so much buzz that we received 10 offers in just one weekend! Needless to say, it sold well above asking price. If I knew that he is that good, I would have saved myself from all the stress and anxiety.

Matt worked with us for about a year and a half! when I was relocating to the San Jose area. We looked at many houses and his expertise was really appreciated when we had questions or opinions. Matt Taylor is terrific. He spent a full day showing my husband and I houses in our budget and neighborhoods of interest. He also provided an excellent overview of the market in the San Jose area, educating us about a market that was new to us. He is very knowledgeable and personable. Matt sold our family’s downtown San Jose house for us in April 2015. He made the process as efficient, understandable, and predictable as it could possibly be. This review is «LONG OVERDUE»… I had a tall order for Matt and Rob. I owned a single family home in Vandome Park in San Jose, CA. that based on comps, was worth around 900K at best. I didn’t want best, I wanted «Legendary». I wanted to sell this property for 1.1M Although I had worked with Rob in the past, I interviewed several agents. All other agents would not even consider what I wanted except for Rob and Matt. I set the goal high and needed to set a record with this property. Rob and Matt «PULLED OUT THE STOPS» they even helped with painters and helpers to do last minute improvements. Their marketing was absolutely top notch and they even paid for a word-​smith who wrote the most eloquent description of the property. They sold the house for 1.1m in 7 days. That money became capitol for me to start a new business and has propelled me forward faster than I could have imagined. I could not have done this without them and I can’t tell you enough what the two of them mean to me! I watched other houses sit on the market because other agents aren’t really motivated. Rob and Matt are really the best real-​estate team I have ever dealt with and I wouldn’t trade them for 20 other agents. Feel free to look up the property on Zillow 125 Hawthorn Way, San Jose, CA. To put it simply, Matt is the very best!
Being recent transplants from the East Coast, there was a lot about moving to California that gave us distress — the crazy real estate market, the extraordinarily high taxes, the traffic, our new jobs, the DMV (I mean seriously) and did I mention taxes???
Matt was the saving grace throughout it all. We had a very short window with which to buy and move in to a house. He knows the entire region extremely well and all its neighborhoods. We were able to get into the first house we placed an offer on (shocking, I know!). If it wasn’t for Matt and the professional way that he worked with the other side, the deal would have fallen through and we’d still be looking.
He was über-​responsive throughout the process and guided us through any questions we had, including every nuance of settlement process. We love our new house! If we ever have to move and deal with it all over again, it’s comforting to know that Matt will be there by our side — thanks Matt!

Matt was a phenomenal agent to work with. He has extensive knowledge of the area and how the real estate market works. As a beginner in the house buying market, Matt was willing to answer ALL my questions and help us through the process of not only finding the house, but also providing contacts for loan agents. He has a plethora of resources and people who trust him that make purchasing a house (once you’ve found it) go very smoothly. Matt is willing to go to bat for his clients and will stop at nothing to make sure you are taken care of during this process.

This was my fifth time going through the home buying process, the second time in a ludicrous market. Matt was phenomenal/​outstanding in the following ways;
–Ability to understand my needs/​wants and use his knowledge of the bay area home market to advise which homes I would like and those we should skip (I checked up on ~10 he advised I should avoid and all 10 were a disaster indeed)
–Willingness to meet at non-​standard hours to better leverage an opportunity
–His estimates for the actual accepted offer for each home was always within 10%
–He has a wealth of contacts that can help make the entire process the smoothest/​easiest possible

Matt has been helping us with our property needs in the bay area for over a decade. He is incredibly knowledgable of the bay area specifically and real estate generally. This year he helped us buy the house of our dreams, and (more importantly!) sell our previous townhome for top dollar.
Matt works very hard for all his clients, and is available night and day by email and phone. We couldn’t be happier with his work!

I just had the pleasure of selling the aforementioned place with Matt. He did an awesome job — gave great advice, his pricing instinct was spot-​on, and his painter and stager did an awesome job on the place. We got 4 offers after the first weekend of open houses and ended up selling it in 28 days total from list to close. Other places that were as niec as ours are still languishing on the market because they were severely overpriced. Use Matt and listen to him! I cannot say enough great things about both buying and selling with Matt.

Matt & Rob are a great team.
We are first time homebuyers. My wife and I had done our homework on what we wanted and what were wiling to compromise on. Matt & Rob were accommodating and never pushy. They did a great job working within the parameters we gave them, and were patient with us.
In the end, hiring them really paid off. Matt sniffed out an upcoming property from an agent in a complex we really liked, and Rob helped us make a pre-​emptive offer and seal the deal. This is why you need this team!

My wife and I found Matt on Unilocal and he helped us buy our first house. It was a pleasure working with Matt and his team.
Team is the key word here — Matt was on vacation one weekend when my wife and I went to an open house and found a place that we really liked. We emailed him to let him know and within minutes he connected us with his partner Rob Feris. Rob met us at the house the next day and helped us put together an offer. Matt was involved the whole time — reviewing the disclosure, asking questions about the house, and helping with the offer.
After our offer was accepted and Matt was back in town he did a walk through of the house with us and helped us with getting all of our ducks in a row — getting insurance setup, working with our mortgage broker, and getting the house closed, and even coordinating a termite fumigation for us.
We had a great experience with Matt and the whole team and highly recommend him.

I was looking for my first bay area home, and I sent out a note to friends asking for agent recommendations. Matt’s name came up many times, and I selected him as my buyer’s agent. I had already been browsing homes online, and Matt’s obvious comfort with using electronic media (email and web) was a huge factor in my selection of someone I would be working with.
The ordeal of buying a short-​sale home was complicated and often frustrating. Matt’s experience with the process and the frequent communications helped ease the anxiety as well as got me through things as quick as possible. We often exchanged email late into the evening as we both had busy schedules during the day. This was greatly appreciated. I always slept easier.
Matt made sure I was happy with everything. I’ve sent all my friends that are looking for homes in the area to Matt, and will continue to do so.

5 stars for Matt — and this is from someone who’s always been skeptical of the value that realtors bring to a real estate transaction. We are relatively new to the country and first-​time buyers to boot, and wildly underestimated the amount of documentation and nuances in closing a transaction. He’s extremely knowledgable and experienced, and provided guidance and insight during the long and stressful closing process. He worked really hard to drive the closing process, coordinating and pushing where necessary all of the involved parties on our behalf (esp. our mortgage broker, who was less than responsive — but that’s for another Unilocal review).
Matt is also knowledgable about homes in general — roofing, flooring, termites, etc. It was great to be able to bounce ideas off him about updating homes that we were considering.
Matt was always professional, patient, and very responsive, often answering all of our emails within minutes of us pressing ‘Send’. He always made time for doing showings, and provided lots of support, even after the sale, such as helping us to set up our roof and termite and work.
Most importantly, Matt is a real person and not just another slimy realtor. At the end of the day, a realtor’s got to make a sale and put food on the table for his family, so I can understand why they are so often pushy to force a quick sale — but that was not the case with Matt. He just tries to do right by his clients, and that really sets him apart.

After only a couple of months looking, my husband and I closed on a house in Sept. 2012. We found Matt through a mortgage broker who recommended him. He turned out to be an amazing find — always on the ball and really able to help us. He is not only hard working, patient and a great communicator, but he has a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of the areas we were looking in (MTV and Santa Clara). Maybe it’s because he used to be in high-​tech (engineering at Intel, I think), Matt’s style of working and communicating completely clicked with us.
The market was really tight when we were looking and there were very few places in our price range. Matt saved us loads of time by steering us away from iffy neighborhoods or houses with «issues».
The greatest thing about Matt was his willingness to discuss the pros and cons about each property we saw with him as well as those we saw by ourselves. He worked really hard to educate us and share his knowledge about construction, materials, etc. as well as about «the process».
During the times we spent with him his recommendations for places to see became closer and closer to what we were after. Finally, he spotted a house for us that he thought would be just right and it was not an Intero listing. We got in to see it and knew it was «the one». We called Matt and he went to work: he advised us on our offer and leveraged a casual relationship he had with the listing agent to help get our offer accepted. He even went to the trouble of doing an in-​person presentation to her — something the other representing agents did not bother to do.
Now that we’re about to move in and are so happy, Matt has become more of a friend and advisor. He is helping us sort out some of the purchasing decisions we’re about to make (flooring, etc), even though we’re no longer prospects. This is a guy who really knows how to deliver great service!
