AB Acupuncture

From the start, getting a massage booked was an arduous task. While in the process of trying to purchase the Groupon deal, the Groupon deal was taken down. Before even attempting that purchase I did a lot of research on all the offers available and checked reviews online, looked at company websites, etc. Luckily, there was a very similar Living Social deal which I was able to purchase.
I called and asked to make a same day appointment for a thai massage. This was around 10:30am. They were able to offer me a 5:15pm appointment. I’m just happy they had an appointment available the same day, as I’ve been dying to get a massage!
An hour later I received a call back from the person who scheduled my appointment. He was very apologetic and at first I thought he was calling about a mix up in the scheduling. However, he was calling to inform me that the Living Social deal was only for a «regular» massage. Not exactly sure what that means because I only have had deep tissue massage from my sister years ago when she was going through massage school.
I specifically wanted a thai massage because of it’s similarity to yoga which I’ve read about. And I do enjoy yoga, especially the restorative type. I checked the ad on Living Social as well as my actual voucher and NO WHERE does it state what type of specific massage it is valid for. There is also nothing stated about any restrictions for coupons on the AB Acupuncture website.
The massage therapist, and possibly owner? got on the phone to explain what a «regular» massage was to me. It sounds like it incorporates deep tissue and I’m gonna guess Swedish since I read that is the most popular therapeutic massage. She assured me that it is a custom massage tailored for the person and that a customer’s comfort is the most important.
So still trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt, even though it does not exactly make me happy to be informed about a restriction I had no way of knowing about. Plus, on the AB Acupuncture website all the different massages cost the SAME! So if one is more specialized than the other why doesn’t it cost more?! And if they all cost the same why can’t I use the coupon on whichever massage I want???
Anyway, the massage was just ok. It was mostly a Swedish massage which was not what I wanted.

Very friendly staff & therapists. The massage was OK, didn’t like the mentha rub all over. My therapist forgot I had 90 minutes so I had to remind her and the music went out about 20 minutes in. I am usually not one to be picky, but music makes a difference especially when you can hear 2 different and loud conversations in 2 other rooms next to you. Not very relaxing. Finally, I have horrible allergies and problems breathing on a normal basis. It smells like cigarette smoke as soon as you walk in. It is very hard to breathe and unpleasant.

I have been here many times for massage, and I can tell you that every one, was excellent and professional, from experienced therapists. I have always had fantastic customer service from the front desk.

Amber and Katrina are very special young ladies. They have helped me with Migraine, stomach and neck issues. Love them. And they take insurance.

Probably the worst massage ever! The «therapist», and I use that term lightly, had no idea of what feels good and what doesn’t! I told her I liked medium pressure, however, there were several times when she used so much pressure, that I almost jumped off the table, due to the pain! There was nothing relaxing about this massage, which is exactly what I look for when I book an appointment. I will NOT be back! What a waste of my time and money! :(

I complained to Groupon about the issue and the credited the amount I spent back to my account. Now they know how to take care of their customers. Too bad this place doesn’t know how to do that. Had they offered to refund me or give me credit for a massage with someone else I might have had a completely different feel about this place.

Amber is absolutely incredible! She knows what she’s doing and if you ask she is more than willing to explain. Her dad runs the office and he is super nice and willing to work with people schedule and gives a friendly reminder call the day before.

WOOHOO!!! Finally found a great acupuncturist, Amber is GREAT!!! She really cares about her patients and listens to everything you tell her. She is also so nice and friendly. Amber is so so so good at her job. I highly recommend her! Amber thank you for being great to your patients.
Also, Chip at the front desk is very friendly, nice, and mellow.

My husband and I tried this business out because of an awesome Groupon they offered. We were in town to celebrate his birthday back in September and badly wanted (not to mention needed) massages. It was fabulous! Not only did they fit us in on short notice by appointment, but the massages left us in awe! Rebecca performed her crafty handiwork on us and her bedside manner was impeccable. We definitely will return there again when we visit!

I Love coming here for the light therapy face treatments. It’s so relaxing and makes my face look thinner! I also come for the affordable massages. Great place. Nice people and good services.

My first visit was because of a Groupon purchase. Massages are a vital part of my stress management and it’s been a bumpy road finding consistently effective therapists. I have since been back 3 times (4^th visit is already scheduled) and each time I receive the same great service. They are very friendly and the massage therapists work wonders.

My wife, Carmen has been having back pain & headaches for some time. After trying chiropractors & other methods, decided to try acupuncture. AB Acupuncture was great! Amber & her staff was accommodating & very nice. My wife was reluctant to try it but after meeting with Amber (which put her to ease) & after the appt, Carmen was told what to expect & what to do after the appt. It was well worth it!!!

I saw a «GroupOn» for a massage for my wife (she’ll Unilocal her own experience). As I was looking at the «GroupOn» deal I noticed another one for some acupuncture. As this was something that I had wanted to try, I signed up for an appointment. I arrived on time and observed a business in the back of a local strip mall. I didn’t know whether this was going to be positive or negative. I entered the sparse waiting room and met Chuck. He explained the paperwork and had me fill them out. I explained that my reason for going was arthritis in my hands. I had never experienced acupuncture so I had no prior expectations going into this.
A short time later I was brought into a room by Amber. She asked a number of appropriate questions based on the paperwork and my goals. She then fully explained the process. The room was a small couch, shelf & massage table. The floor had a small carpet over tile. A small room heater was also in the room.
Amber began placing the needles in various locations, some had heat/​aromatic moss burned on the ends of them. The process took approximately one hour. I found the experience very relaxing, and no longer had any pain in either of my hands.
The negative thing about this location is how the rooms are set up. They have VERY thin walls and you can hear everything in all the other rooms and at the front desk. This is not very conducive to relaxing during the massage/​acupuncture procedure and in meeting HIPPA regulations.
I have returned four times since then and each time I have been very pleased with the results. The intervals without pain in my hands last about two weeks.

I got to try this place out through Groupon and it was the best place I’ve been too. I have been getting acupuncture and massages before for the last 5 years because I have neck, shoulder, and upper back pain. And this place is the best compare to many others I’ve been to! The staff there were all nice and friendly. The place is at the end of the small strip mall so you might not see it driving down the road. But it doesn’t matter. Service and skill are the 2 things that are very important in this business. And they were awesome in both!
My acupuncturist Lisa was super awesome! And she was very good and friendly. After the acupuncture, she gave a brief deep tissue massage of the sore area and did some other chinese «technique» using heat to help with the sore muscles and pain. Not only she helped me on the sore muscles but also on re-​balancing my energy.
If you are on the fence about acupuncture, give it a try. If you are needle shy, they have massages there too. Their rates are very affordable. I definitely come back at least once a month because their treatment worked and stayed effective for a long time!

When I called to make the appointment I was encouraged to do the massage and acupuncture together and I did. I walked in and noticed the place was not warm. The décor gave me a chuckle, Asian meets down home country.

The massage room had a heated mat on the table and a tiny space heater. Massage was good and relaxing, areas I was asked about were addressed. Pressure was reduced when I asked and I didn’t have to ask again.
I went to put my clothes back on and discovered a heavy NON-​absorbing oil all over me. Nothing takes the relax off like having to use the sheet I was covered with to rub oil off my body. Stepping off the small mat in front of the massage table onto the COLD tile floor really… really didn’t help either.
When I left the massage room the place felt cold. The Acupuncture room was cold NO space heater. I asked if there was heat, I was told the thermostat was set on 74 but I just had a massage and my slowed heart rate would give me a chill!!! and then she put a sheet around my shoulders. After waiting 10 min for the Acupuncturist my toes were cold. Once again the table had a heated pad on it. I’m assuming they invested in heating pads for the tables in an effort to keep their heating bill low?
The needles were painlessly inserted in me. Then a sheet was draped over me and immediately removed, when I Unilocaled in discomfort from the pressure it applied to the needles.
I noticed the bottom of my feet were dark gray and I was told it was from the oils on my feet from the massage and walking on the floor… mop your floors!

Giving 2 stars instead of one because they were able to accommodate me for a 90 min massage after they had me down for a 60 min. Anyway– throughout the massage I could hear the front desk receptionist on the phone or talking to other customers. I could also hear the rolling squeak of my masseuses rolling chair. No clue why she needed it. I told her that I had some low back pain and she didn’t even massage there. In fact I feel like I had a 90 minute leg/​arm massage with only two different kneading techniques. I came in with knots in my back and left with them! Only went here because I got a groupon at a great price. What a mistake. DON’T LET THE DEAL SITES FOOL YOU THIS PLACE SUCKS!

I bought a massage coupon through Groupon and I’m glad I did. This place is not ‘fancy’, but they do know their stuff. I’ve had many massages so I have something to compare to, and I give AB Acupuncture a solid A+ for massage.
I had an 1−½ massage and Sarah did not slow down. She was very careful to follow my instructions on what hurt and what needed more pressure or less. I felt wonderful for the whole day after… my muscles felt much better for the whole week.
I will definitely return, and I will ask for an acupuncture appointment to as I have had great results before for the arthritis pain in my ankles and for muscle knots in my shoulder.

Amber and chip are amazing! I’ve never had acupuncture before and amber explained everything and reassured me the whole way. I called first thing in the morning and told them my labor is being induced tomorrow but I don’t want to be. They were my last hope. Chip moved things around to fit me in. Already recommended them to two friends and some family. Will go back after I have my baby!!! A must go place!!!

Got a good deal from Groupon and came here not knowing what to really expect but knew and heard from others acupuncture would help with my «condition». The staff was so hospitable and caring that I was compelled to write a review, which I don’t do often. Amber is amazing. She made me feel like we had been friends for years, explained everything she was doing, and was very, very knowledgeable, which was part of the reason I became so comfortable so fast. The man at the front desk, sorry for not remembering his name was very nice and what I really liked about them is that they didn’t pressure you to tip (by suggestion) like most business places, that I even forgot to! But I will be going back anyway. Very authentic people who know their stuff, I highly recommend this place!

I purchased a Living Social Voucher for an acupuncture treatment. I had heard good things about acupuncture so decided to give it a try. The place is in an unassuming strip mall in El Cajon. The office staff was very friendly and caring. I met with Amber and she spent a lot of time to talking to me about what I wanted to work on. She was very friendly and I felt comfortable talking to her. She took her time to explain what she was doing the whole time. It was quite painless. It was AMAZING how I felt afterwards and for days. My symptoms were reduced as was my pain. Im a believer! In fact, I have another appointment next week. I would highly recommend that you try AB Acupuncture!
