We incorporated in 2010, obtained registration as Legal Document Assistants in San Diego County, and changed our name to «Legal Assistants of San Diego County.»

Holly L.

Business Owner

Holly Logan founded «Paralegal Services» in (1995). A certified paralegal, Holly spent the last two decades diligently performing the tasks of a Legal Document Assistant in a professional, effective manner, and has a growing clientele which attest to her excellence in the profession.

In (2010) we became known as «Legal Assistants of San Diego County.»

In (2010), Meggin Hurlburt joined the team at Legal Assistants. Meggin graduated the University of San Diego Paralegal Certificate Program in (2010). Prior to that, Meggin graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelors in Liberal Studies and graduated with the top honor of being recognized as Summa Cum Laude. Meggin is a member of CALDA.

Holly and Meggin are a mother-​daughter team who handle divorces, child custody, and child support modifications. Holly also prepares QDROs and Trusts, while Meggin also incorporates businesses.

Holly and Meggin are registered and bonded Legal Document Assistants.

My divorce/​custody was starting to become very messy, I was so overwhelmed it seemed as if my husband had the upper hand because he obtained a lawyer. Financially I was strapped for cash after becoming a single mother of 3 and expecting my fourth abruptly but a friend of friend recommend this business And told me that they were very good a what they do. I contacted Megan and explained my situation she told me to come in immediately with my paper work. When I went in megan was calming and caring, she told me not to worry she was there to help, long story short she took everything I wanted to say put them in legal terms, prepared all my paper work quickly and organized my documents to prepare me for court. If ANYONE needs documents prepared this is definitely the place to go she is very efficient, knowledgeable and the prices are very reasonable. I don’t know how my case would have turned out without her but with her I gain full custody of my kids and was more then prepared for my case
So thank you Megan you are truly a life saver

Found this company via Unilocal review. Contacted Meggin and asked her for the pricing to do a homestead declaration document. She charged $ 175.00. Later, I did my own research online and found out it was illegal for people to charge over $ 25 for a Homestead document.
«You should know that it is illegal for a homestead filing service to charge more than $ 25 (including recording fees and notary fees) to prepare and file a homestead declaration on your behalf.»
I do not trust this company. I replied back to her email to refuse her services and Meggin did not even apologize for her mistake.

Having been a family law attorney for over 25 years in San Diego County, I’ve seen my fare share of work generated by companies that offer divorce assistance. It usually means they fill out the paperwork, make a few costly errors, give a bit of bad legal advise (when they shouldn’t give any) and then can’t help much when things go awry in court. Fortunately that’s not the case with this exceptionally well run business.
These people are professionals who know when to help the customer by referring the case out to an experienced lawyer, and when the case does not require the high costs or expense of a legal advocate. Most cases don’t need a lawyer to get what you want. Courts are set up to handle pro per litigants (eg no attorney).
Over the years I have sent many clients to this company and never heard a single complaint from anyone. Family law matters with complex legal issues, or high conflict litigation, should really be handled by a law firm specializing in this field. It costs much more for a good reason; it’s worth the investment over the long run.
BUT if your case does NOT fall into these groups, then take your business to these two women. You will appreciate everything they do. They are fast, fair and proficient and you won’t find anyone that does better paralegal work on uncontested family law cases in town.

I was seeking advice in dealings with my ex wife in matters of child visitation and responding to motions filed by her attorney.
Being a small business owner I have dealt with my fair share of lawyers over the years and developed quite disillusioned with the legal profession.
With their staff and posh offices and busy schedules and billing you for every little thing minute for minute. So i decided to go a different rout this time and did some research on paralegals in the area. I came across Holly and Meggin’s small family firm on Unilocal and decided to give them a try.
Best decision I have every made!
No receptionist or secretaries and no fancy office, but solid advice, expeditious service, compassion and very reasonable rates.
The concept of keeping the overhead low and passing on the savings to the clients seems to be
their philosophy. Doing good and helping others first, making money second seems to be their mantra. Thank you Holly and Meggin!

I am writing this review on behalf of a really close friend that does not have Unilocal but wants to acknowledge the awesome work Meggin did.
My case involved a divorce between me and my military ex-​wife. Meggin was terrific with explaining the easiest and best route for me to resolve a divorce. In my case she guided me through a summary dissolution. Even though my ex-​wife and I had been married longer than the 7 year limit for summary dissolutions she was knowledgeable enough to know that as long as we separated before the 7 years then I could still avail to the summary dissolution which was the cheapest and easiest way. I was nervous because I thought my ex-​wife would drag out this case because she was collecting extra benefits and allowances by being married to me. She reassured me that is rarely the case and I would be able to speak to her command. If I spoke to her command they would require her to act upon the divorce papers by either signing the divorce papers or filing separate documents. I got really anxious because it took over 2 months since she received the divorce papers for her to sign. Meanwhile, Meggin reassured me that waiting is typically the easiest way to resolve my case. It turns out she was correct all along and her expertise really made this ordeal as smooth as it could have gone. I recommend her for divorces including military personnel because she is knowledgeable with civilian law, military law, and what paper works to fill out. Thank you Meggin!

Holly is a human angel. I have watched her help so many individuals who have such huge weights on their shoulders and each time she does it with all her heart. I don’t have enough good to say about my experience with this business. Holly has gone above and beyond in her assistance to me and made me feel worlds more comfortable as I face going back to court to right the custody order that was mishandled by the attorneys. I have put off filing changes for a year because of my fears of the unknown, and Holly has given me a second chance at a happy ending.

Meggin is wonderful. She’s responsive, affordable, and does great work. She did everything she said she would, during the time she said she would. She handled my divorce perfectly and professionally. What could have been an expensive, painful time in my life, was made much easier by Meggin. I will always be grateful for Meggin for making that happen.
I dealt with a different paralegal firm that took $ 1000 and never did anything. They were difficult to get on the phone, never actually read documents or listened to me, and never refunded my money. After that terrible experience, I was so thankful for Meggin. She has great legal knowledge, great resources, and either answers her phone, or calls me back super quickly. Thanks, Meggin!

These folks have been so patient with us! We have moved, and had some family emergencies which has delayed us getting in the paperwork needed to finish a case we brought to them. They continued to tell us, we are here for you whenever you are ready. Meggin Hurlburt is an Absolute Angel. She is professional, knowledgeable and and friendly. They all work so hard there and care about us clients. Our case was unusual and a bit difficult however it was not difficult for Meggin. There may be a few other places that can offer the same type of services, but we came here because it was recommended by a friend who told us that they care and she was right!
