I did not take the reviews about NIcki’s being rude and surly to heart, and called to ask about and purchase a needed part. Too bad I didn’t take the previous reviews seriously. Rude is putting it kindly. While I spoke to one female who answered the phone, I have no interest in doing any more business with this concern. Her nastiness and offensive attitude is totally unnecessary in any business or any enterprise. Worse is that this company has to see the poor ratings on being jerks. Any company that would not take action to correct a serious flaw has no concern for its business or its customers.

They are very surly. Always have been. I’ve used them in the past — called today to arrange pick up of my riding mower and 2 hand mowers and they only do pick ups in Elmhurst. I’m 10 minutes outside of Elmhurst but okay, I get you have a policy. I asked if they could recommend someone who would do pick up or if I could pay an extra charge and you’d think I was from a land that spoke another language. She said I’d have to bring it in myself… hmmm…can you see me driving down 83 on my riding lawn mower… I was begging to find a way to do business with them because I used them before — and by the way they picked up at my home then — but I guess they have plenty of clients cause I can’t use them… if only I bought that house I was looking at in Elmhurst… oh well.

A bit surly… Not exactly peaches and cream but magnificent honor an integrity. If it was a real guest service business I’d be a bit whiny and sensitive about the lack of friendliness but they just get the job done. And when the job is done, they give the extra bit of service without charge that makes you realize… this is where you want service. These folks do it right and if they had a garage to fix brakes on my car or change my oil, I’d go there for that too. Nick and wife are old school in getting the job done right. If you have a power tool and live in Aurora, make the trip to Elmhurst because you know you can trust these folks at a very fair price. Just plain fabulous!

I called to get the procedure for an estimate. I was told to drop off the lawnmower, pay a $ 20 deposit and they would call me with a repair. So, I did just that but I got a call the day after stating that the lawnmower was ready for pick up. Pick up? I hadnt even gotten the quote?! I went and picked it up anyway and was told I owed ninety something dollars. Then come to find out, that was after they deducted the $ 20 deposit I paid. Wow, more than half of what I even paid for the mower. I feel ripped off, they shouldnt have repaired it without my authorization — Buyers/People seeking repair — BEWARE!

We have taken our riding mower and snowblower to them. Nick is good to work with. They fixed the blades on our mower and it didn’t still didn’t cut right, Nick took it back and looked at it again, free of charge. However, they have lost a customer due to their customer service. The girl that answers the phone is rude every single time. We will not be going back to a company who has customer service that hangs up on the customers and has no customer service skills.

Don’t expect great customer service or smiles, they can be rude when busy, but they are priced very well and do a great job! Been going to them for about 8 years since they were in Franklin Park. Can’t complain for the quality work and price.

Nicks sales and service is now the only place i take my small engine equipment. I am a contractor and Nick has fixed all my lawnmowers and snowblowers. New and old nick has been fair and has found parts from older machines that other small engines shops could not order or they didn’t want to mess with it due to lack of knowledge!!! Always fair and most important does it RIGHT

I have been going to Nick’s for years when he was in Franklin Park. I still travel 15 minutes to see him for repairs or new purchases instead of going to closer shops. I trust his work and his prices are comparable to big box stores. You cant beat his knowledge and personalized service.

The«David S» review must be a plant, why would a guy from Melrose Park go to Elmhurst to get his lawn mower repaired? I found just the opposite at Nick’s Sales and Service. The prices so were laughably out of line that I bought a used mower from him. You would think that he would have checked to see if it was in good working condition before he sold it, but no, and when I caught him in a fib about it he just mumbled a lame explanation. Well, the electric starter broke after I used it 4 or 5 times so I called Nick. He said it would cost $ 40. Since I could still start it with the pull cord, I finished the growing season with it the way it was, all the while debating whether to take the mower to some other more reputable repairman, or give Nick a chance to do the honorable thing and stand behind what he sells. I decided to give Nick a second chance, all the while a little voice in my head was telling me I was a chump to do so. Since my wife and I were moving into a new house on Dec 3rd, we were swamped and I didn’t get around to taking the mower in until after we moved. He repaired it, but when I suggested to him that he show give me a little consideration on the bill he mumbled another lame excuse, saying that if I had brought it in before the end of the year he might have, pretending that he does have some integrity, which was conveniently not applicable in my case(apparently, there’s an expiration date on integrity), then he mumbled something about giving people a year after they buy something; but it hadn’t even been 6 months since I had bought the mower on June 23rd. Is Nick disreputable? Hard to say. I don’t think he has much integrity: I think integrity shows up in the little things, such as my little dealings with Nick, so it’s probably safe to assume he wouldn’t have any integrity when it comes to bigger purchases or other dealings either. What’s the upshot? My recommendation is avoid this«guy» like the plague, and pay attention to the little voice in your head.

Nick repaired my lawnmower and snowblower they both work and run great. A true master if you need repair work done, fair and honest pricing. He has or can get parts. If you need a generator has them to.
