Moonlight Beach Concession Stand

Burgers were good. Wait for food was a bit longer than I think it should have been and the prices are high, but I guess that’s what you pay for beach front food in Encinitas, even though it’s still just a concession stand.

Sandwiches are huge! Pretty decent for a concession stand right by the beach. Affordable and pretty decent selection.

Poor quality food and it closes too early. I realize this sounds like the Woody Allen quote: «The food here is terrible, and the portions are too small.» But I wish, at the Moonlight Beach concession stand, they’d both improve the quality of the food and stay open longer. The hot dogs and ice cream bars may be okay but if you want a decent sandwich or salad, forget it. I advise you top pick up something from one of the fine local restaurants or Whole Foods and bring it down to the beach. I guess the concession stand doesn’t have much competition and the customers are mostly kids so I can understand why they’d have low standards in the food department. But it had good food maybe adults would eat there. How about Bull Taco? They’re a concession stand at the beach and they have great food. What I can’t understand is why they close so early. My wife and I often go down to Moonlight in the evenings after work with a picnic. I’m always shocked when I get to Moonlight beach in the evening. There are thousands of people crammed onto this tiny beach with bonfires roaring. And the Concession stand is closed! I’m not complaining about the crowds. Due to the fact that 90% of the people, for some reason, cram themselves onto this little space called Moonlight Beach, we can stoll a few hundred yards either north or south and have a nice peaceful experience watching the sunset and enjoying our picnic. But, with all the hoards of people, why isn’t the concession stand open? What bonehead is responsible for making decision to close up at 5 or 6 and turn away all this business? Can you imagine if this were Mexico or France? The place would be open till 10:00. They’d have nice outdoor seating and lighting. And they’d serve wine and beer. To continue complaining… why aren’t they allowed to sell wine and beer? I suppose the answer I’d get is because «this is a family environment». If this were Mexico or France they’d have wine and beer. Do they care less about their families there? End of rant…

Had a great acai bowl, awesome location but –2 stars for closing at 4pm.
I don’t understand — beach is open until 10 so why do they close so early — particularly in the busy season!

So great to be able to walk up and order descent food while spending the day at the beach!
We were greeted by the friendly and knowledgeable cashier (think she said her name was Kyla) since it was our first visit we asked about the menu and settled on the chili dogs. Surprised at the size of the dogs (big) and the chili was great, they also came with onions! Cheese would have been a good option and didn’t think about it until I was almost done. We will definitely be back to try the burgers and sandwiches next time! Kudos!

Great family ownership, fresh local foods, obviously beautiful location (and great maintenance of the stand itself)!
I wish I had more to say, but when visiting a beach concession stand, what else do you need to know? They’re great… give them your business!
