Nails & Spa By Taffy

I went in for a long overdue pedicure today. When I asked her to cut my toenails shorter, the technician began visibly angry at me. When I gently reached down with my hand to feel the still sharp edge, she actually GRABBED my hand & moved it.
I tried to kindly explain why I needed them short. She then began speaking to Taffy in Chinese resulting in Taffy coming over & trimming them. I realize she was concerned @ cutting me but taking more time, soaking etc was all that was necessary.
Then Taffy had to ask her twice (to get off her headphone) & return to complete the polish.
While continuing to exhibit an awful attitude she polished. (It looks awful — see pic). THEN while I’m still sitting in the chair, she sprays bleach between my legs & begins rubbing down the sink w/​a sponge.
I got up, put on my shoes, went to taffy — complained, PD & left!
DON’T EVER EVER EVER GO to this place!

I have been coming here since they opened maybe 8 or 9 years ago, and think they are absolutely wonderful! Taffy the owner is always pleasant. I’ve never seen them turn anyone away and it can be 5 minutes before closing. I have seen some of the negative comments but let’s remember everyone has a bad day, that’s no excuse, but such as life. The place could probably stand a paint touch up but they do clean the floors and their stations every night and on Saturdays the salon gets a deep cleaning (remember ive been going here since they opened and I’ve stayed way pass closing on several occasion if nothing else to talk). I get my work done by either Sophia or Holli, those ladies are AWESOME!

I walked in a half hour before close (unknowingly) requesting a regular manicure and they took me in less than 5 minutes. I ended up getting a classic manicure with a cuticle soak ($ 15) and it took a solid 45 minutes which was unexpected but nice. She did a great job on the filing of my nails– very even and smooth– and the cuticle work is the best I’ve ever had at a nail salon. She really took her time and kept going back to the cuticle cutter, even while painting, to get any little bit left over. I’m giving a 4 (wish I could give a 4.5) because the polish job isn’t the greatest, I still have polish on my skin and the top coat bubbled really bad. Could have been my fault as I was there, with one other, after close so she may have rushed a little which I get. I’ll definitely go back, as it was the best mani I’ve had, and may just get a clear coat to strengthen my nails and avoid the polish work.

Love this place. Inexpensive. All the ladies are great. They can always fit you in at the last minute. They take their time and give you a nice long massage with your pedicures. I keep returning for the great service.

I just went to this place to get my nails done and I do not like the job they did on my nails after I showed them a pic of how I wanted the shape to be they did not make them the shape I wanted them made me very disappointed and they left some color on the edges they dint remove same with my friend and they were very bulky not worth my 30 dollars never coming here againg I don’t recommend I forgot to mention 2 of my nails fell off and it’s not been 2 days

Great prices, and my nail lady did an amazing job. I went in for an acrylic set, my roommate got a fill, and my other roommate got a pedicure. Very sweet ladies! Best prices in the San Marcos area for sure. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone, and I will be back! (:

I was SO happy I found this place about 3 years ago. Ann does a FANTASTIC job on nails (French, shellac, and regular manicures). She does it right so I haven’t went to anyone else. They all do fabulous pedicures – they take their time and give a super long massage which makes it so worth the money… and the extra tip. I am so happy this place is close enough to my house because I enjoy going there whenever I can. Highly recommend!

I decided to try out Nails By Taffy only because they are located within 3 minutes of my home and the reviews seemed great. I was more than disappointed.
I came in for an almond nail shape fill and gel paint. And was surprised by how dingy the shop appeared. There were splatters of… I don’t know what… on the walls and everything was covered in a thick dust of nail powder (which I understand is part of the ‘gig’, but it was apparent they weren’t trying to keep up on the appearance of cleanliness).
My nail fill itself was okay… we will see how long it lasts. But the gel polish was a mess-​I would assume they’ve watered down their gel polishes to extend the use of them because the gel she used was obviously watery (which I’ve never witnessed in a GEL polish) and would slide off my nails and into my nail beds. Even now there are several spots where the nail polish thinned out leaving my finished nails splotchy.
I’m sure I could have asked her to redo them all but, by then it had almost been an hour and I knew they were closing soon.
While I sat there I thought «why do people love this place so much?» So I assumed it’s because the prices were competitive, but alas no, when my splotchy nails were done she charged me as much as my usual place. With that said; shame on me for trying a new spot. I’ve learned my lesson :) I will never stray again from Be Polished on Rancho Santa Fe in San Marcos.

I really enjoyed my mani pedi here. Excellent customer service. Taffy even had me grab my keys and money before she did my nail color to help me avoid ruining my nails! I will definitely return. Great price, great nails!

I decided to try this nail salon after reading reviews on Unilocal here, and it was close to my house so bonus :)
Prior to going here I went onto their website and saw that they have a 10% coupon off of all services if you just show them the coupon. They rounded down from $ 6.10 to $ 6 on my $ 61 bill but for goodness sakes I have never had a nail salon take coupons and have wonderful customer service so even a dollar off is great for me!
I was a walk-​in I didn’t have an appointment on a Friday morning about 11. There was no wait I went in for acrylic french tips and a pedicure, Taffy the owner sat me down and started my acrylic procedures right away. Taffy is a sweet lady, and had decent customer service for a nail salon (I’ve had some really snippy people do my nails)
When you first walk in it seems a little bit unorganized, there are pamphlets everywhere and water bottles. It seems like some cleaning would be okay but everything was STERILE which is nice to see. I have never had better acrylics, Taffy spent almost an hour on them (go when you have more time) but they are beautiful, thin, barely squared just the way I like them and not bulky or thick at all. I had my toes done too and Sophie I believe was the lady, also sweet and talkative.
End all, my nails look great I was thrilled.
It came out to $ 61 before my coupon, $ 35 for my acrylics (including 2 flowers), $ 18 for my pedicure plus $ 3 for my one flower. It was $ 55 with my 10% off and then I tipped $ 15. If they do a great job always tip well, it opens a door for you to be well serviced every single time you go in. Everyone remembers a good tipper!

I am getting pedi right now. Feels like gross and she wipes the nail stuff and cuticles ON my foot not the towel! Seriously my 9 year old does better.

Came down from Veges and needed a good Pedicure. Was completely satisfied with the shop, workers, and pedicure. The technician knew her stuff…
Had lunch next door, Greek food, great too!

This place is terrible, the people are nice but they did not do a good job on my French manicure.
I got a acrylic French manicure and a pedicure design on each big toe and eyebrow wax. The lady that did my toes was amazing she did a great job and took her time, but the lady that was doing my hands was rushing and actually rushed the lady doing my toes. She did my wax sloppy and it left bumps on my face. The nails ended up starting to come off 4 days after I got them done. And it was not the shape I asked originally and she never cared to ask me
I hate complaining about places but this was just unacceptable.
The only reason I gave it another star was because the lady that did my toes.
Well long story short I will not be coming here again!

Got my nails done by Tammy and I absolutely love them! She did a beautiful almond shape with a matte black finish.

This place is awful. We came to get manicures before a wedding and we could have done better ourselves. One of us had unevenly cut nails and they missed the sides, the other ended up with polish all over her cuticles.
It’s cheap, but not worth it.

This place is GREAT! I just moved back down here from LA. The salons up there are so quick, affordable and perfect! I am SUPER PICKY!!! I’ve tried several places in the area. None meet my standards. I prefer NO acrylic and just gel on my fingers and regular polish on my toes. They have a great eye for color and always have something that looks good together if not perfect! Found my go to spot!!!
