Gates Hudson & Associates

The property management is horrible. Be aware that they may over charge you on utilities, or even rent. And it takes forever to fix the «mistakes». The front desk was however, nice and patient.

They have recently been switched by our board and they have been managing our property for 6 min us no complaints.

Our building has recently changed management companies and this company defiantly stands out! We have had some troubles in the past couple years with different companies. They are very good at communicating with us as residents and responsive to all our needs and concerns. I would highly recommend this firm. We were introduced to Chris from the building next door and couldn’t be more happy!

Ahh, where to begin with GHA… I have lived in the Gates Hudson and Associates property at Fort Strong Villas for two years and had been largely successful at avoiding having to deal with the management there. If you think you can limit your interaction with management, then go for it as the lease prices are often just below others. Now, some reasons why you should NOT take that bait. I have dealt with their local property managers and the corporate management and one word sums them all up: unprofessional. I would even take that one step further and say criminal based on my experiences with them. If you go to the office and ask anything other than «can I sign a new lease» you are greeted first with ignorance and then a «Sorry, No». That «No» is only if you follow up b/​c they almost never do. They will make it your problem and take on as little responsibility and cost as they legally can, perhaps that is a GHA corporate value? This will happen if you have ANY type of issue with your apartment, in my case they decided to knock out a wall in my closet over the course of three weeks. This work was planned in advance but they told me only a couple of days before, whats more they offered no consideration; outside of a «we are sorry for the inconvenience». Oh no wait, I did get a $ 15 Starbucks card. Asking for outlandish things, like any type of prorated rent was also met with a «No». This is even after speaking to the construction crew who said that the apartment should be vacated during the work as the fumes could be unhealthy. Management eventually agreed to give me another apt during this time but that was after having wasted two of my vacation days dealing with this mess they put me in. Further, the apartment they gave me was far away and did not even cover the whole time that the work was going on and my apartment was essentially a construction zone with all of my stuff strewn across my bedroom. I could go on, but you should get the idea by now. A uniquely horrible group of people must be in charge here to treat their customers with such disregard. Needless to say I will never deal with GHA ever again.

Please do not move here! I am not one to write reviews online, but I feel extremely passionate about my experience at North Pointe. We moved in during March of 2013. Two weeks later, we realized that the entire building was infested with bed bugs. The management had been aware of this infestation and had let us move in regardless. Our brand new furnishings had to be covered with chemicals and we could not clean our entire apartment for three months. The entire experience was extremely traumatizing, and the management at first did not even believe we had bed bugs. We had to capture a bug and actually show it to them before they would have an exterminator come. Then this past month (February 2014), our apartment was robbed. All of our birth certificates, passports, social security cards, financial statements, check books, titles to our cars, and savings bonds were taken as well as some very precious jewelry of mine. Additionally, there was no forced entry into our apartment. The locks were completely undamaged and there was no sign of a lock being picked. Therefore, one would deduce that the person who had came into our apartment and robbed us of all of our identification documents was someone that had been in this apartment before and had access to our keys! Let me add context to the situation, we are from NJ, and have never had anyone stay in our apartment except family visiting. Also there were several times that maintenance had come into our apartment without giving us any notice (to take out our air conditioners, to fix a tub that we did not ask to be fixed, and to change our stove). To say that we are devastated would be an understatement. After filing the police report and having the police investigate the apartment confirming that there was no forced entry we brought this to the attention of the management company Gates Hudson (
), who have informed us that they are not responsible for this. Even though it was their negligence in enforcing their key check out policy and 24 hour notice maintenance policy that resulted in us losing extremely valuable items. Not only would they not take responsibility or compensate us for the extreme financial difficulty that we are now in, they then turned the tables on us and claimed that this is a personal matter and we are somehow responsible for someone robbing us with a key. I am so bewildered. The lack of respect and professionalism of Gates Hudson management and the North Pointe Apartment Homes is astounding, and I would never want anyone to have to go through what we have gone through living there. I hope this message reaches potential residents of any Gates Hudson community and helps prevent an injustice like this from happening in the future by a leasing and management company that abuses their tenants.
