Established in 2003.

On a hot summer day in 2003, a group of college buddies borrowed a beat up cargo van and dubbed themselves College Hunks Hauling Junk®. People in the neighborhood would call the «College Hunks» for anything that involved strong backs and a truck. Word quickly spread about a group of friendly, intelligent college students that could help sort, move, recycle and dispose of peoples items. A business was born…

it was quick and easy. I was able to make an appointment for the following day and the guys showed up on time and were very professional and capable. It took a lot of maneuvering to get the furniture out of my basement and they handled it very well.

Outstanding service! Beginning with the initial phone call to the movers requesting information on hauling out a very heavy sectional sofa to donate to Goodwill. The customer service rep was friendly, efficient and informative. After the appointment was set up, I received an email reminder and a phone call before the guys showed up. There is no pressure to use their service and it was reasonable for the work they did. The two young men who came out to do the heavy lifting, Shelby & Jay, were very strong and made the move look easy. Would definitely use College Hunks again.

Aaron and Robert worked extremely hard to remove 2 dilapidated sheds and the junk left inside by the previous owners. It turned out to be a day and a half job. Those guys worked their tails off! I had recently moved to the area and hired college hunks to help unload. The guys were friendly enough and were able to move the large furniture in the 2 hour window. However, they were incredibly slow. The equipment they came with was much less than I expected from a professional moving company. After being charged $ 400 for two hours, my dad and I ended up having to unload 1⁄3 of the truck ourselves and it took us 20 minutes. I had a loading dock and freight elevator to help move. The movers I hired in my previous location loaded up the truck in an hour with 3 flights of stairs. It was clear they just wanted to get the job done so they could start their weekend, and wanted to push into a third hour so they would get paid for it. If I wanted to move my stuff myself, I wouldn’t have paid $ 400.

I filled out an estimate form on their website and got called by a sales rep from the national company. They told me that I would need an onsite assessment for my «inter-​state move» despite the fact that I was only moving 20 mins away from Northern VA to DC. I decided to go with a local mover instead– one who understands the DMV.

They cost a lot and didn’t do much. spent 4 hours moving a bunch of my stuff at a snails pace. didn’t accomplish what I really wanted done which was to break down a piece of furniture. overall, I would have been better off getting a friend to help me and saving a bunch of cash. the most useful thing was their truck.

An update to my previous review. Move-​in was this morning. Again the crew – this time Kevin and Francisco, showed up on time, did the move quickly and left everything in good shape. I’ve now been served by several members of the crew – Kourey, Stuart, Kevin, Joseph and Francisco and all were great. The owner stopped by yesterday to see if everything was going well. Dan the estimator was almost right on the button. If the rest of the crew is as good as these guys, they’ve got a great thing going.

They have great customer service when you call and great follow through with e-​mails before and after. I called a little last minute and they were very accommodating. Two guys showed up and they were in and out in now time. Totally made things stress free.
