There’s just something about the INTENT of this place — I got it… small town diner, locals’ hangout, tourists’ «FIND» — comfy, EZ atmosphere but bangin’ recipes! My heart and my tummy were fed at this gem!

Great unpretentious place for some really good food. I had the Nasty Ned which was pulled pork on cornbread. They could build their business on the cornbread alone. It was pillowy, fresh, hot, and flavorful. With the scrumptiously savory, tender, and well seasoned pulled pork on top it was heavenly. I spotted some«ginger sautéed onions» as a addition on another menu item. Intrigued, I ordered a side of them which I topped my pork with. I deeply savored every bite. My side of beans was much appreciated since it incorporated 3 different types of beans. Phenomenal flavor again. The other coleslaw side fell on it’s butt though. There’s something funny that happens to cabbage every once in a while where it ends up with a flavor that is reminiscent of fishy-ness. Nasty indeed. Also, no seasoning, and it was really crunchy and dry. So other than that slight flaw, my plate was A+. Other diners at my table swooned over the shaved beef sandwich, and a prawn salad with tortilla chips and a side of that awesome cornbread. The cornbread didn’t come with butter to the table so when we asked for some, we got some wonderful honey butter. Be sure to ask for it, it really enhanced the flavor of that great cornbread! Service was not especially welcoming. We were in town to look at a real estate property, and came in to eat at 3 ish, kind of an odd time. We asked if the kitchen was open just to make sure, and the young man who served us drinks looked at us like we were aliens invading the dining room. He never came back to offer refills and neither did the server. The other tables were asked the usual«is everything okay» after getting their food, and we were not asked, leaving us to flag down someone for butter and refills. We kind of felt like outsiders for sure. But I’d go back again for the food, it stands on it’s own!

Not very good, especially in the backroom. They need to up the«cowboy,» tidy up, and rethink their execution of the menu. Kind of a disappointment.

My partner and I love the BBQ Here. They know their stuff. I wish they had a larger menu, but besides that. This place does their meat right! Plus they always have great service. Definitely a favorite for is local mountain folks!

Always good to get the perspective of time… and good to know that those 5 big bright ‘Cowboy Stars’ are still shining bright! A couple years since my last review and I just ordered lunches for all my crew today. I ordered the Zorba(lamb burger) and if I can get my eyes to roll back down from their sockets I will be able to read what I am writing at this very moment(using text to speech to write the review as I am ‘blinded by the awesomeocity of this burger!!!). I am getting thumbs up from everyone eating their lunches! No talk… just chewing(if they aren’t talking at lunch it means the food is GOOD). Looks like a positive review from the crew as well! One last thing… and it is a BIG thing. All the people that work at Cowboy are just plain great people. Apparently it is a good place to work cuz everyone has a smile on their face(Good on’ya to the owners for keeping the crew happy). People… PLEASE… do yourself a BIG favor and stop in the Cowboy Bar & Grill for a meal or just stop by for a drink and soak up the atmosphere. Hey! There us a little ‘Cowboy’ in us all right! You will not be disappointed.

Good food and service… But I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again. Simply because it took forever to get my food, they gave more priority to the bar it seemed then to my table. The staff is nice, but I wasn’t too impressed with the food…

A yummy simple menu and reasonable prices… add fast service and a full bar and the Coyboy has much to recommend it.

Staff was very nice. Food was great. Some of the best coleslaw ever. Lamb burger was good. The mongo was good too — it’s wrapped like a burrito. The fries are great. Even cold they are still crunchy and soft.

If I want to feel sick, bloated, and order a heart attack on a plate, I go here. Their pulled pork fries, smothered in cheese are a fine example. You must eat these things when they are hot, because the grease sets up otherwise, and at the end of the meal, there is enough GREASE left on the plate to cook a meal for the fat guys who frequent this place. The Gorgonzola burgers are served with iceberg lettuce that was just a few days past its prime, the onions were not sweet, but hot and tasteless, the tomatoes had turned, softened, but added a bit of ‘almost ketchup’ essence to this otherwise LOUSY meal. They use paper cups to serve ice tea, paper plates for the grease laden crap on the plate and show up three times during the meal, once to take the order, once to bring the crap and again to bring the check. They do not refill the ice tea. Personally, will never go back, but for those who will eat anything to make a turd, this is the place, and they got booze, tv, and there is no dress code whatsoever.

A great find close to my home in Scotts Valley. First time here on a Sunday since Malones was closed and I really wanted a good steak. They have a full bar and they even have Casamigo tequila!

The other night was the first time I’ve eaten here in over a decade, and boy how has it improved! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the menu simple and direct and the staff attentive. Their BBQ is excellent and the portions are just right. I suggest the«Nasty Ned;» a large piece of corn bread smothered in pulled pork and a sweet sauce, all topped off with melted cheese. It was as good as any BBQ I had in Texas over the last 3 years. Can’t wait to go again!

Cowboy’s lamb burger is haunting me days later, «.. . Oh-return, you must return eating another lamb burger!» Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah~I’ll return but, driving 77 miles for a lamb burger?! Are you seriously kidding me!!! Is it worth driving 77 miles for a lamb burger??? Like in the movie, «When Harry Met Sally» when Sally began proclaiming, «YES, aw-YES, yes, yes, oh~(moan)-YES!!!» As the old folks across at the other table exclaims, «I’ll have what she was having!» Yes~That IS the lamb burger worth driving 77 miles to inhale it in five to seven breaths! GONE! My family truly enjoyed eating the lunches as well. .. But, oh-that lamb burger. .. It was true LOVE at first bite!

I thought this place was pretty good. I had a burger with gorgonzola on it. It was really tasty and had a good portion of fries with it. They gave me lots of ranch for my fries. I can’t complain about the service. The staff was friendly and served me quickly. The restaurant had an old West theme. The prices were good.

The service wasn’t really good enough. To start with we had to wait forever to be shown to one of the half dozen empty tables right in front of the entrance where we were waiting. Then when our food appeared through the kitchen hatch it took so long to be collected by our waitress and brought to our table it was barely still warm when we started eating. Update 9⁄2015: Unwisely we went back. Again the service was poor, very poor.

I used my trusty Unilocal app to find this place. My husband and I were in the area for a couple of days, and we really didn’t want anything as fancy or pricey as the Oak Tree Ristorante(no $ 24 pasta for me thanks!). When we pulled up to the front of this place, and I saw the smokers going, I knew I was in the right place. It is definitely a locals kind of place, as it was evident that most of the patrons knew each other. It was kind of like Cheers had a mashup with your corner pub. The atmosphere is definitely not fancy, but makes you feel comfortable. No need to dress for dinner here, as jeans and t-shirts are quite ok. We ate here twice during our stay, so this review will be a combination of both visits. On our first visit, I had the smoked ribs plate, and my husband had the smoked tri-tip. Both of our meals came with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. Also, served with a side of cornbread. You were offered a choice of soup, or slaw to start your meal. We both went with the slaw, but for an extra $ 3.50 my husband added a wonderful crisp salad with gorgonzola crumbles. I didn’t much care for the slaw, as there was a very forward taste of horseradish in it. These ribs made angels sing. They were wonderfully smokey, and just short of falling off the bone. On our second visit, my husband had to have the ribs, because mine were so good a few days prior. My daughter went with one of the specials, which was a smoked chicken with a berry dipping sauce. She wasn’t a fan of the sauce, but liked her chicken just fine. Both hubs and daughter went with a salad instead of their slaw. I had a Cowboy Gorgonbleu– breast of chicken with sliced ham, and a gorgonzola cream sauce. It was good, but given the choice between the two meals that I had there, I would go for the ribs again. To start my meal, I had the pork and bean soup. It was a little more brothy then I expected, but very good, with pinto beans, and chunks of pulled pork. So, when in Felton… go to the Cowboy!

The pulled pork salad and delicious accompanying cornbread were delicious. Some of the best pulled pork I’ve had… and I’ve been to West Virginia and the South U.S. numerous times. Comes with salad dressing, although it’s not necessary. Washed it down with an Uncommon Bacon Brown Ale. Very good. Service was prompt and friendly.

What a find. We dropped in to get a drink while we waited for our table at The Cremer House in Felton. The staff was so nice and accommodating, that we dropped by for a bloody mary the next day. We will be back for some grub very soon.

Actually this is not a real review, but just a glimpse of feeling I had when I went there. I had beend riving the whole day showing my sister around(giant trees in big bassin and HW1). We wanted to stop and enjoy a coffee so we pulled over to Cowboy bar a grill. I really loved the atmosphere, the smell of the food, the service… so I eventually ended up trying the Yam cake that were… awesome! sweet and sour sauces, excellent cakes… I can’t wait to go back and update my review :)

After a long session of zip lining at the redwood tours nearby, my party of adventurers were absolutely famished and on the look out for BBQ flavored meal. Felton’s a small town with not particularly an abundant amount of choices, so this place seemed like a safe choice. Safe, but not overwhelmingly amazing. Cowboy’s Grill is a rustic if not dated place. Customers appear to be town regulars, and my group of Asians stuck out like a sore thumb! We started off with the yam cakes, and these were probably the highlight of the meal. These come in an order of four, and are accompanied by an interesting mix of candied ginger, jalapeño, and a ranch sauce. The yams were a tad luke warm, but so sweet and comforting. If they were just a bit more warm and had a crispy shell, they would have been perfect! The addition of the candied ginger and jalapeño gave this appetizer a good boost in sweet and spicy notes. My entrée however fell a bit short. I ordered the spicy chicken special, which was simply a medley of sweet and sour stir fried vegetables and shredded chicken over rice. This obviously Asian-American inspired dish was unfortunately decent but uninspiring… I’d skip this if you’re not into an elevated Panda Express dish. Entrée also came with your choice of coleslaw or soup of the day. Service was okay. Not particularly friendly but not terrible either. A decent place if you’re in need of a quick bite when in the Felton area. But I’d probably just stick to hanging out in Santa Cruz for good eats next time.

Bön petit restaurant si vous passez par Felton pour y voir les grands séquoias et le train vapeur du coin. Nous y avons dégusté des hamburger, celui au wapiti était excellent, celui au boeuf un peu moins passionnant.
